Transmission on 2005 expedition is slipping. When the vehicle is placed into drive and the foot throttle is depressed the vehicle hesitates to move forward, but then jerks forward. Other times it seems like it doesn't want to upshift when driving on the freeway. I must also state that the paint on the tip of the hood and on the tailgate are starting to bubble /blister, the vehicle is only 5 years old and the paint is cared for through polishing and waxing twice a year. *tr
"check electronic throttle" message appeared and accelerator pedal became unresponsive in traffic. Pulled over, restarted engine and issue corrected itself. *tr
"check electronic throttle" message appeared and accelerator pedal became inoperative. This is the second time this has occurred. Shifted vehicle into neutral, restarted engine while rolling along and error was corrected. *tr
George newcomb landers mclarty 2609 south walton bentonville, ar 72712 I purchased a 2005 expedition from you a few weeks ago. On 11-23-05 I brought it over to have some defects repaired. Defects that were to be fixed. Transmission. When stopped on a hill if you remove your foot from the brake the vehicle will roll out of control. This happens if you are stopped with the vehicle in reverse going down a hill of in drive going up a hill. The transmission will shift at odd times as you are driving. Rear passenger dome light flickers when you turn in on with the switch in the back. Right turn signal flashes very fast. Tires are very bad out of balance. Driver door does not latch unless it is shut hard. I told jesse that they had to be done by 5:00 pm. After keeping th

Twice I've been driving and all of a sudden I lost power and "electronic throttle control" message came on. Accelerator would not work, coasted to the side of the road-- 2nd time in heavy traffic!! Both times I turned off engine and restarted ok, but I'm scared to death to drive with my children in the car. Driving straight on city street both times. *tr
I have six kids and when your driving and your car shuts off going 50-60 miles an hours and gives you a message fail safe message, that's pretty scary. I fixed the throttle body sensor once and now have issues with the same issue. I have looked into this and surprised that there are not recalls. This is one expensive fix. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 Ford expedition eddie bauer. While driving approximately 45 MPH, the contact stated that the vehicle stalled, when the electronic throttle control warning light illuminated causing the vehicle to loose power. The dealer was notified and informed the contact that there were no recalls and offered no further assistance. The manufacturer was informed and advised the contact that they were not aware of the problem and to file a complaint with NHTSA. The manufacturer also stated that they would document the complaint as well. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 58,000. Updated 07/18/11
At 45 MPH I lost throttle control and warning light came on indicating "electronic throttle control". I drifted to the side of the road, put in park and turned off engine. I restarted and everything was fine and warning light was gone. Has been fine for the past couple of weeks. Reading everybody's concerns on this issue makes me wonder if there really is a fix for this. I certainly don't trust the dealers......what's up Ford??? *tr

1. There were no events leading up to the failure. There is no warning that this is going to happen or is happening. Under normal driving conditions, my 2005 Ford expedition simply lost all power and the words "engine fail safe mode" appeared. 2. This occurred twice (oct. 6, 2009 and nov. 16, 2009). I was able to pull to the side of the road both times but during the second incident, I lost the power steering as well and struggled to pull over. The consequences of this "engine fail safe mode" is that the car stops working. You become a sitting duck wherever the car has decided to go into this mode. You are unable to accelerate -not fun when this happened on the freeway the first time-and if you do not lose your power steering, you can pull to the side of the road. 3. The elec
My mother had my car when this occurred and the incident and subsequent research showing a dangerous pattern and no recall of this issue has me very concerned. While at a red light, the engine failsafe message flashed across the dash with the engine light on while making loud alert beeps. The engine was still running but the car would not go. My mother put it in park and shut the engine off. She was able to restart the car and drive with no issues. My concern doing research on this issue is that this can occur while in motion. If this had happened a minute earlier or later, it could have resulted in very serious accidents during high speeds or left turns. I am now almost fearful for myself and others to drive this car. *tr
2005 Ford expedition limited ~83.5k miles vehicle had been driven about a half hour and the engine stopped without warning, unable to accelerate, brake or steer. Coasted to side of road, shut vehicle off, restarted. Took to dealership, unable to register code however I provided them with comments from online sites pointing to throttle control body failure causing engine to go into failsafe mode. Dealership's first inclination without any codes is to replace a fuel sensor. Dealership refused to address throttle control body despite my suggestion along with other vehicle owner's incident reports from online sites. 8 days later while my husband was driving myself and five children, after about a half hour of driving, he found he was unable to accelerate, looked at the message center and it
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Ford expedition. While driving 30 MPH, the vehicle vibrated abnormally and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000. The VIN was not available.

While driving 55mph on interstate 95 in philadelphia, pa with my wife and 2 children the vehicle stopped running and I was dangerously stalled in the middle of interstate 95. The check engine light came on and check electronic throttle message came on. This is a family vehicle and my wife and I refuse to drive it now in fear of this incident occurring again resulting in death or serious injury. Based upon my research, it appears to be a well known problem that occurred to thousands of Ford expedition owners. I would appreciate the problem being addressed expeditiously before people are killed and/or injured. *tr
Crank no start, after replaced new fuel pump, filter and other parts would not start and not getting fuel. Was in motion and died after making a right turn after filling fuel tank.
I was driving with 4 kids in the car, when all the sudden my car turned off, all the lights came on the dash. Luckily I was able to move over to a parking lot. I turned the car off, turned back on, nothing. Tried again and it worked. I was able to drive 50 miles home and as I was turning in my driveway it happened again. *tr

Stopped at a traffic light intersection to make a right turn. While I was making the right turn about 5 MPH, the 2005 Ford expedition stalled and all the lights went on. I waited for about 10 seconds to turn on the car. The car started. I stopped 5 minutes later to stop the engine to see if everything was ok. It took two tries to start the engine. I took it to a Ford dealer the next day to get it inspected. They claim it was the "throttle position sensor". I got that replaced for ~$340.00. *tr
I have a 2005 Ford expedition, eddie bauer. Most recently (2 weeks ago), my check electronic throttle light came on, I called my local dealer and planned to take it in the next day. I work close to home and have limited driving distance. On the way home, the throttle went completely out and the vehicle cut off on the side of the road and was unable to be restarted and had to be towed. My local dealer did fix it in a timely manner. However...this is not the first problem. We bought it brand new and within a month the fuel injector went out when I was coming back home from out of town, my drivers side seat adjustment went out twice and had to be replaced. I am short and had to drive with my seat all the way back. 2 cam phasers had to be replaced back in the summer and then most recen

Driving on highway at about 60 MPH changing lanes and a odb message appears "check electronic throttle control" and the car just shuts down. It was a life threatening moment for my family and I as a truck that was on coming from behind with speed had to slam on the brakes in order not to collide with me since I had no power to accelerate. I was only fortunate that the truck had a clear lane to change into abruptly. The electronic throttle message after further research is a wide spread know issue among Ford cars and I am livid and very angry that the NHTSA has not issued a recall on this know issue as it is public knowledge online. This needs to be addressed immediately to avoid any potential future tragedies. I hope Ford does not want blood on there hands! *tr
While driving on us 95 north the vehicle all of the sudden stalled. This has happened twice before while driving at speeds of 60 and greater on busy interstates. The engine just stops and the car must coast to the side of the road and sit for a few minutes and then it will start again and run fine for at least a week or two. Recently this has been happening every couple of months. The first incident was in jan of 2010 on a trip from missouri to virginia. Now that we live in virginia, near dc this is something that we find very dangerous especially with four children in the car.
