The last week in nov. 2009, I had backed my vehicle into the garage. The next morning, when I came outside, the first thing I can see is the back of my vehicle and a vertical crack on the panel between the top hatchback and the liftgate. The crack was in the center to the left of the Ford emblem. The crack was the full distance vertically of the panel. It has since widened. I took my vehicle to my local Ford dealership to have it looked at within 3 days of the incident. The next day, I received a call that it would cost me $430 to have fixed. My local dealer said Ford would not pay for this incident which was of no fault of my own. I have since researched this problem and found out that hundreds of explorer owners have had this happen to their vehicle and Ford won't pay for it nor do a r
Right next to the Ford emblem a crack developed. It's on the rear glass hatch and runs from the top of the fiberglass panel to the bottom. The panel keeps expanding and contracting with the crack going from just a slight line to a 3/16" gap! Definitely a manufacturer defect. I've seen many other explorers with the same issue. The truck was in perfect condition when it appeared and Ford says that it's not their problem. Too bad your warranty has run out! Poor design that Ford should fix for the money we have given them for the vehicle. *tr
2005 Ford explorer has paint peeling along the roof rack. The dealership said this is not covered by Ford. While researching the problem on the internet, I found that this is a common problem for other owners. *tr
The front, driver's side, tire came apart and caused considerable damage to my vehicle's body and possibly other damages not seen. I need to take the vehicle to a mechanic for an inspection to see if there are other damages. The tire is a good year eagle rs-a. The DOT # is 4b08 dlwr 3701. Tire size p235/70r16. I was driving on interstate I-75 when the tire came apart. It was terribly scary. I did not realize what had happened and thought the vehicle was falling apart. I pulled onto the emergency lane and realized the tire had come apart. The rubber coming off the tire caused quite a bit of body damage. The visible damages include damages to the driver's side head light, rubber ripped out the driver's side blinker, molding under the driver's door was ripped out, paint damage, tire well dama

Paint in roof channels bubbling, roof rusting. *tr
Came outside and noticed a crack in my rear hatch going all the way down. Ford dealer says they will not cover it, even with a extended warranty. *tr
The paint on my 2005 Ford explorer is peeling off big chunks in numerous spots on the roof. I contacted Ford and they told me that since it was past my 3 year 36,000 mile warranty that it was up to me to get fixed.I want Ford to have this problem fixed. I shouldn't be having to pay for defective paint that Ford is well aware of. A recall needs to be done on Ford vehicle paint. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Ford explorer. The contact stated that while trying to reverse at a low speed, an abnormal noise was heard before the vehicle suddenly jerked backwards. The failure occurred constantly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact mentioned that the gear lever in the reverse position failed to operate after three months of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
Vehicle transmission begining to slip, soon will ahve no 4th gear or reverse. The vehicle is up to date with matinanace and everything mileage is still below 95,000 miles. This is an outrage that the Ford company is aware of this problem and no recall has been reported.
Drove the vehicle to work and went to leave and I had no reverse. The transmission had been slamming into reverse and then engaging prior to this-but no slipping or anything else. I had the fluid changed and there were no teeth or any metal in the filter or pan-but this did not fix the problem. Spoke with 3 transmission shops in my town and all told me the 05 explorers had junk transmissions. That the fluid in part of them from the factory was bad and the tranny itself was just a big mistake. This needs to be recalled- $1338 later, I have a rebuilt 'junk' transmission. I have owned fords in the past and loved them, but my explorer ended this lover affair. Everywhere you look online there are complaints about this vehicle- and no one is making Ford do anything about it. *tr
Transmission continues to go out and an investigation is needed for all 2005 Ford explorer transmission problems after 120,000 miles. *tr
Just bought this car. Transmission was having trouble shifting gears and is now slipping. This should be a recall, as I have found too many complaints about this transmission falling apart. Ford should fix this issue and replace with a different transmission. I don't want to spend thousands of dollars on a transmission that is bound to fail again. This is a blatant missed recall. The trans is model 5r55s. Please recall this. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 Ford explorer sport trac. While decelerating from 45 MPH, the engine stalled when the brake pedal was depressed. The dealer was able to duplicate the failure, but could not find the cause. They believe it could be the torque converter, solenoid, or the transmission needs to be replaced. The current mileage is 48,600 and failure mileage was 48,580. Updated 01-29-08. *kb the consumer stated the vehicle has not stalled within the last 2 weeks. Updated

Heat component: tried to defrost the windows on my vehicle, when I adjusted the controls to the heat I began to hear a loud clicking noise and no heat was coming out of the vent. Winter is in and it is extremely difficult to see when driving due to this issue. Two other individuals with the same make & model have the same exact issue with there vehicle. I feel that it is a failed piece of equipment that causes a high safety risk. *tr

2005 Ford explorer front wheel bearings bad at 87,000 miles and ball joints have slack in them. Ridiculous that a car this nice has such problems. Lots of complaints about the same thing on the internet, rear end has a roar in it too, of course I can't afford to get this stuff fixed. Ford should recall these auto and fix all these problems. This should not be happening on a new vehicle which has never pulled anything, only driven to work and back 12 miles a day and top speed is 45 miles per hour. Last Ford I will ever own. *tr
