My 2005 Jeep grand cherokee has a recall from Jeep Chrysler but no parts are available. My key ignition will and has shut off all by it self causing me to loose steering, brakes and total control of my vehicle. This is my only vehicle as I purchased it in april of 2014 and I would not have bought this vehicle if I knew of the problems with the ignition like the Chevrolet vehicles. I have to drive with one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on my key/ignition to drive. I feel this is not safe and Jeep Chrysler has told me to stop driving this vehicle or drive safely. How can I drive safely with this problem that is clearly a major issue with all ignitions on several years of Jeep grand cherokee's. Jeep told me I cannot get a new ignition till I receive a second mail letter telling me t

Jeep door handles are faulty. The plastic surrounding the door handle is a faulty product. The plastic starts cracking and falling apart. Then the actual handle has no support and begins to have problems. I can no longer lock the vehicle properly. Three doors are affected thus far. *tr

Noticed in 2010 that small piece of plastic was missing behind one door handle. This is a lightly used one person commuter vehicle. Then in december 2011 all four door handles began to fail. Each has missing pieces of plastic behind each handle that compromise their use. Took vehicle to dealership where it was purchased new and serviced since 2006. Was advised it would be $750 per door to fix as the door handles are integrated into the plastic door panel. Complete failure of all four handles is imminent. We are very concerned for our safety. A brief search of the internet shows that this manufacture defect is widespread in this make and model. It is clear that both the material and design used is defective. Replacement with om parts will not fix, as the problems is with the design and mate

3 of 4 interior door handles and panel to which they attach appear to be broken (cracked) and one is non functioning. After a google search of "Jeep interior door handle", I have found hundreds of complaints. Repair costs exceed $2000 dollars from the dealer. Although the aesthetics of this remains annoying to owners, the real problem lies in the fact that door(s) are inoperable from the inside and could potentially "trap" people in accidents. *tr

We had the recall done on the Jeep grand cherokee 2005. They reflashed the ECU that controls the ability to shift the Jeep into neutral in order to tow behind motor home. After the recall we had trouble 3 times with the Jeep either not shifting from neutral to drive or from drive to neutral. The last time this happen the Jeep was stranded as my wife could not pull it behind the motorhome. Ultimately I had to go to florida and we drove the motorhome and Jeep back separately. I contacted the dealer about this and at this point I do not have confirmation that this will be fixed as part of the original recall. Since this appears to be a common problem I, based on internet searches, I believe that Jeep should fix the vehicle even if it is out of warranty. I intend on taking the j

I had to take the vehicle in for a recall since I received several notices, it was recall n23. This caused a safety issue when I could not shift into 4lo on a steep slippery muddy hill. Prior to the recall the vehicles transfer case functioned properly however now it is not and the manufacturer has claimed that it is a separate part that broke. However one dealer indicated that it was due to a faulty flash of the recall. This seems to be a widespread problem and I do not want to be charged to fix an issue that was caused by a recall. *tr

Purchased vehicle 8/9/08. At this time only problem we was you had to press clock button for radio to work. During 2008 we noticed a lot of odd behavior in electrical areas. October 29, 2009 brought Jeep to used car dealership with these complaints: first check engine light started coming on, then it began flashing, door chime starts dinging, illuminated areas dim & brighten-flashing, dashboard lights go crazy flashing on & off, interior lights turn on & off, transmission lights go crazy & need to shift down in order to get vehicle to drive, headlights & tail lights flash on and off which is very unsafe while driving on a dark highway at night. Used car dealership had car towed to Jeep dealership in new london. These repairs cost $500.12 for faulty crank sensor, sensor crankshaft, s

All 4 interior door opening handles breaking/failing: 1 rear door totally inoperable. This is a dangerous safety issue ' if handles break or are inoperable in certain emergency situations, passengers may not be able to exit the vehicle, causing serious injury or death! Manufacturer charge to replace/repair handles is prohibitively expensive

As I was leaving a shopping center about 40 miles away from my house my Jeep and as I entered onto the interstate the Jeep acted like I was having a flat tire with the steering wheel shaking and giving me a lot of vibration and the flop flop sound you get from a flat tire. I stopped and got out but no flat tire, loose lug nuts or anything I could find. Put flashers on and headed up the road slowly not going over 45 MPH. It finally quit and I was able to increase speed. It continues to have this wobble sound along with the steering wheel shaking off and on. I did some research and the only thing matched what happen was the Jeep death wobble. Some vehicles have had a recall on this but I don't see any for my year.

Issue 1 - all the internal door handled have broken. This limits passenger egress in the even of an accident. Issue 2 - this past weekend all the lights on the car flickered and briefly turned off while driving at night on the highway. This includes the headlights, parking lights, fog lights, and all interior lights. It appears there is a known problem with the light switch mechanism in the multi function turn signal assembly. This present a very dangerous situation if traveling on a two lane rural road. *tr
