I purchased a use 2005 Nissan titan 4x4 in may of 2010. In december 2010 I went to engage the front wheel drive due to driving up a road that had snow and ice. After complying with the directions in the owner's manual I began driving up the grade only to find that I had no pull from the front wheels. This almost resulted in the loss of control of the vehicle due to loss traction on the road. One time the front of the vehicle complete slide back down the hill, causing the vehicle to do a complete 180 degree turn. Days later I took the vehicle to my mechanic and found the front axle had become detached. They advised me that this was the second titan they had seen do this and had heard that titans had a problem detaching when driven in four wheel drive mode on dry pavement and the vehi

I wish I would have check this website before buying the 05 titan. Went in for oil change and tech. Informed me of leaky seals training and play in u joint need to be replaced under warranty thank god, but after reading all of the complaints on this website I don't think I'd would have bought this truck. *tr
My 2005 Nissan titan has had a rear end failure at 12,500 miles. They cannot tell me when they can get replacement parts. *jb
Had a bad sound coming out of front tire area. Noticed grey oil the following day on my garage floor. 70,123 miles on it. Took my '05 titan to my service guy. Said the front differential is completely gone. Got it repaired yesterday, $2100....looked online and saw folks with the same issues, many folks! Seems to me Nissan should own up to this being an issue with these model year trucks and correct the problem (ie recall) before its a major accident for someone. My mechanic noticed that the part number was superseded by another number, most likely meaning that Nissan knows of the issue and that's their way of "correcting" the issue. Only issue Nissan, consumers pay for the issue. Makes me want to re-think about purchasing another Nissan product, I have two presently. *kb
Failed rear end differential at only 75,000 miles. Driving on highway when a loud bang came from the rear end. Made it home, but more popping and banging noises along the way, especially turning under acceleration. Drained rear differential fluid and removed cover, metal chunks and shavings in case. This vehicle has the "big tow" package on it and has never been used to tow anything. It has been mostly on the highway and off road very infrequently and never heavy-duty off road. It is very fortunate that the failed rear end did not cause the vehicle to lock the rear axle and cause a severe accident. This is a very common issue on this model of vehicle, and in my opinion is due to a faulty locking rear differential. Nissan will not admit this, because the entire rear axle assembly nee
I was turning into a gas station and I heard a loud popping noise coming from the drivetrain and it felt like my truck slipped out of gear. I had to engage 4wd just to make it to the dealership. Diagnosis was a failed rear differential. Parts are being ordered for a full assembly repair. *tr
Rear seal completely failed while driving causing differential oil to saturate the rear brakes. *tr

The other day I was sitting in traffic for almost 30 min stopped with the engine running (lots of christmas traffic on the 5 south freeway), I put the truck in park because I notice an accident. I had my windows up and my cabin air on. Then a few min later I started feeling dizzy almost fainting. The car next to me saw that I was struggling, came to my window and asked me if I was ok. I rolled down my window and he noticed the smell of exhaust inside my truck. After my headache went away. I went to the dealership and they told me both of my exhaust manifolds were cracked and that's how the exhaust was entering near the front cabin. *tr
My exhaust manifold is leaking just as many other titan owners have experienced. I did not notice a noise on mine until I went in to a muffler shop to get a price on getting a dual exhaust installed and they showed me that it was cracked. As a result, I do not know when the problem began, but I can hear it constantly now. I have since, done extensive research over the internet and have found that hundreds of titan owners are experiencing the same problem. It doesn't seem to matter how old or new the titan is, owners are reporting the same issue over and over again. Some are still under warranty, so they are getting a free repair, but if it is an ongoing issue, why hasn't a recall already been issued? I have been told by many muffler shop tech's that the "cast" that Nissan used was a bad
Cracked exhaust manifold found by dealer on an inspection but has been cracked for several years. When I researched the crack I found it to be an issue with no recall.
Both exhaust manifolds have gone bad due to cracks and thus have exhaust leaks. *tr

2005 Nissan titan, the heater works intermittently, the fan blows fine along with the a/c, it doesn't make a difference if the truck is moving or stationary.there is a clicking in the dash when I switch the control from, floor to dash or from defrost to floor, etc. I purchased this truck in 2015, but assume it has been a previous problem.
Certain 2005 Nissan titans were recalled in campaign #10v074000 due to the fuel gauge showing that there was fuel remaining when the tank was actually empty. This occurred to my vehicle in february 2013. The vehicle shut down and I lost power steering. I was luckily able to turn with enough force to leave the roadway. After contacting Nissan, they declared my vehicle was not part of the recall and was not affected although I was having the exact same issue.
2005 Nissan titan. Door latch failure during cold weather below freezing. Live in smallwood ny, so time period of this weather is october - april. Locked out of truck while children in car and unable to get to them because all doors were frozen. Keep in mind I have not washed the truck in several months. There is a Nissan tsb that they will replace door locking mechanism if vehicle is under warranty. Nissan usa: tbns bx56aa / tsb 05118. However if vehicle is not under warranty they quoted me at $400+ per door x's 4 doors. This is unreasonable and a severe safety hazard for most of the country that experiences weather below 32degrees f. It is a known failure that Nissan usa knows about. This should be a mandated recall. Below are links to a Nissan titan online forum with multiple other co

After a freeze during the night, I went to open the driver side door. The door latch cable snapped the first time I tried it. This now poses a hazard if in the case of an emergency I cannot open the driver's door. *kb
