Key will not release from my ignition. It appears that the ignition does not read that the stick shift is engaged in park and does not release the key from the ignition. This began happening just as my car reached 60,000 miles (my car is currently at 84,000). There does not seem to be any pattern to the problem, just random and in any weather condition. Sometimes I just have to leave the key in the ignition and leave the vehicle. The key is still in accessory mode and does drain the battery. I brought it to the dealer at my first incidence and the ignition was replaced. It was covered under the warranty at the time, but the warranty expired just after.*tr
Our Saturn ion 3 would not turn off. Apparently there is a serious problem with the ignition in these cars. Why hasn't Saturn/general motors recalled this part. Someone could get killed. We have had it repaired only to have it happen a second time. *tr
Car will not start when it is very cold out! Key will turn, radio etc. Will work, but anti-theft system cuts off fuel. Many, many people have same problem, on Saturn ion 2, numerous years! The oil/grease used in ignition freezes! Saturn knows of this problem, but is turning a blind eye! *tr
Two days after moving to nj from fl as I was pulling into my driveway the power steering light came on and the steering locked up. I found that if I turn the car off and on again the steering is good for maybe 20 minutes. I have checked the fuse and took it to a shop. The mechanic suggested I do some research because a car this young should not have these kinds of problems. I have seen similar complaints on the internet about the same model. My car is a Saturn, ion 2005. *tr
Dt: the contact stated intermittently the vehicle will accelerate with the contact's foot on the brake. The vehicle has been to the dealership, and they were unable to duplicate the problem, and no codes were found. This caused the consumer's vehicle to rear end another vehicle. There was property damage. The hood buckled and the grill was damaged. There have been no repairs done. *ak the consumer experienced electrical problems such as the right front turn signal, which turned out to be a loose connection. The vehicle would not start until 10 minutes after the initial start. It was determined the vehicle needed a new module. Updated 01/25/06. *jb

I took my car in for a recall on the steering and the said they replaced the electric steering motor. It still had no steering . The gm dealer said it was 58.00 to tell me what was wrong, the dealer came back and said that it was the steering module was bad. Gm customer service says the module is covered but the gm dealer wont replace it because they say that the module is part of the steering column and its on covered for the steering column. I have been going round and round for 30 days and no avail. I need some help. I am sending this for my step-daughter [xxx] who is the owner. Power steering intermittently fails at random and steering wheel suddenly becomes immovable nearly causing serious accidents and endangerment to myself, my family, and others drivers on the roads.
While driving down the road at normal speed 55 MPH we get a ding ding ding with a pwr steer light to come on and then we have no power steering. Luckily my husband was driving. After calling the Saturn dealership it appears to be the power steering assist module. This is dangerous due to you not getting much of a warning. *tr
Absolutely abysmal customer service experience with orange Buick GMC orlando. I had them do two recalls on my '05 Saturn: the ignition switch (which was giving me problems due to the passlock system), and the electric steering assist (which I'd had _zero_ problems with prior, it was done as a precaution). After the steering motor was replaced, I started having intermittent power steering codes on startup with no assist (turning the car off then on clears it). They replaced the motor again. Problem still occurs. Now they're saying the steering column is suspect, it's not covered under the recall, and they won't do anything about it. How funny that the column would have been touched by their techs for both the motor and ignition replacements.
Power steering keeps failing on and off during turns at all speeds. *tr

There was not an accident . The key will not come out of the ignition when you turn the key back, you have to wait for a while then it will finally come out. This is after the recall that fixes the ignition switch. *tr

Passenger front wheel of a 2005 Saturn ion 3, still under factory warranty with 27,000 miles, locked up on dec 22, 2007 causing a single car collision. An ASE certified mechanic looked the car over after having it towed to my residence and saw that the spindle was broken, but there was no sign of other damage to the vehicle that would cause enough force to break the spindle. His opinion is that the spindle (cast aluminum) was over-tightened at the dealership and had a defect/hairline crack that finally failed. The failure happened at 60 miles per hour, causing the vehicle to slam into the guardrail, then spin into a ditch. When the spindle failed and the vehicle pulled sharply to the right, I attempted to hit the brakes which went to the floor and did nothing. Insurance has refuse

Dt: the contact stated vehicle stalled several times at highway speeds. There has been no warning prior to each incident. This was the fourth time she took vehicle to a dealer. Each time the dealership told her the problems was fixed. She did not know what repairs the dealership had done previously. She did not have any other problem with the vehicle. The vehicle is at the dealership now and has not been repaired. *ak updated 01/25/06. *jb
