2005 camry delays, then lurches forward, when accelerating from under 10 MPH. When car is driven above 10 MPH then is decelerated to under 10 (I.e. To make left turn) then accelerated, the engine will rev and after a .25 to .5 second delay the transmission catches and throws the car forward. *tr

2005 Toyota camry le v6 gradually speed up to about 25 MPH. Stop short (you don't have to lock them up, but stop quickly) then accelerate again. When I stop short, my transmission shifts into neutral, and it takes about 3 seconds to shift back into first. When it does, I get quite a jolt. Brought car back to dealer, they are saying it is normal. *nm
2005 Toyota camry failure is in the nature of delayed transmission response. Incidents happen at around 25-40mph, mainly while coasting in heavy traffic, also while in process of slow acceleration while changing lanes. Vehicle drops in speed/delays and then lunges, many times making a strong kick/jerk before allowing completion of lane change or acceleration. Has caused quite a few close calls while merging into lanes. Also, very delayed response while taking off from a stop sign or coasting through at slow speeds at an intersection, car delays shifting. Revs to the 3rpm mark while still stuck at 15mph. Dealer does not help with warranty b/c they "can't feel the problem" when test driving. Have gotten the response "that it is a normal function". *tr

cruise control 4 complaints shown
This is a delayed response, as I was not aware that Toyota finally accepted responsibility for spontaneous accelerations. I was in slow, stop and go traffic and my car suddenly accelerated. I recall looking down as I pressed the brake as hard as I could because the car was not stopping or decelerating. I thought that my foot must have been inadvertently on the gas pedal but it was firmly planted on the brake. The brake worked as there were definite skid marks. I slammed into the back of a tahoe, totaling my car and causing a pulled shoulder, whip lash, and a deviated septum in my nose from the airbag deployment. I was afraid that the policeman would not even believe my account of the accident so I did not report the incident as clearly as it occurred (though I definitely accepted responsi
On dec. 23, 2006, around 11:20 am, I was driving at about 5 MPH in a parking lot. As I made a slight turn to the left to straighten out, the car suddenly accelerated and hit a parked car. The brakes did not work, even when floored. The car would not stop until it pushed another car up onto the sidewalk and its wheels bumped up against the curb. The car was eventually stopped by turning off the engine using the key in the ignition. (taking my foot off the brake pedal seemed to make it go faster.) the weather was sunny, but the car had been parked outside in the rain the two previous days. I had not used the cruise control anytime recently before the incident. We have not had any problems with this car, although occasionally, the radio turn has turned itself on while we were driv
Tl*the driver owns a 2005 Toyota camry. When the brakes were applied, the vehicle surged forward and crashed. A police report was filed. The driver was taken to the hospital via ambulance due to the injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to an insurance lot and the contact was unsure if the vehicle was destroyed. The vehicle was not examined to determine the cause of failure and it was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were unknown.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Toyota camry. While making a left turn the vehicle began to accelerate. As a consequence she crashed into a parked vehicle. The vehicle was completely destroyed. After the crash she suffered many bruises and a broken collar bone. She was taken to the hospital for the injuries. The manufacturer went to inspect the totaled vehicle to exam the electronic throttle body computer but the damage to the vehicle impacted the computer itself. The failure mileage was 25,000.
seatbelts 2 complaints shown
While driving down the street, the left rear passenger had the seat belt buckle detach from the seat belt with the buckle remaining on the belt. Upon arriving at my residence I inspected the seat belts, I noticed that the right passenger belt buckle was also detached from the strap. It seams the threads where the buckle is sewn into the strap have disintegrated.
Front seat belts are jamming and getting folded and thus creating a driving hazard. They become stuck and won't retract sometimes leaving too much slack. They twist inside the side panel of the vehicle and you have to remove the molding to retract the seatbelt. This has happened multiple times with both front seats both driver and passenger. I am just taking the time today to log this complaint hoping maybe there is a recall I am not aware of. *tr

2005 Toyota camry, brakes didn't work while going over a pothole. This has happened to me at least 3 times. Used brakes to reduce speed due to pothole and brakes failed. *tr
3 cases: all at low speed (4-5mph) following 90-degree turn, application of brake causes car to accelerate, over space of c. 1 year, 2 collisions. Dealer "scanned system and performed health check." reported "all systems functioning properly, gas and brake pedal are secure and in correct position." *tr

[xxx] was stopped at an exit ramp on a freeway in his 2005 camry. He was rear ended by another vehicle at approximately 55-60 MPH, causing [xxx] car to hit a guard rail. Both cars were totaled and sustained major damage. [xxx] air bags did not deploy, despite the fact his vehicle sustained large impacts to both the front and back of his car. [xxx] hit his head and sustained head injuries (in addition to other injuries) as a result of the impact and failure of the air bags to deploy. I am submitting this form on behalf of [xxx] as his attorney. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I stopped my car at my mailbox at the foot of my 45% incline short driveway and put it in park with the engine running. After getting out to get my mail, I re-entered the car, put the car in drive, and touched the accelerator. The car engine "roared" more loudly than I had ever heard and lunged forward uphill towards my brick home. I slammed the brake pedal one time as hard as I could and the car stopped. I had not expected it to stop. There was no collision, but thank god I did not kill or injure some innocent person or myself. I now refuse to drive the car, which is a real problem for me and my family. I understand your agency has failed to force Toyota to include the 2005 model in your recall to install new braking system override. This is unconscionable. *kb
tires 1 complaint shown
Purchased new set of pirelli four season passenger tires at large-chain membership store for 2005 Toyota camry. Less than 1 year later one of four began loosing air and took it in for inspection. Tire shop found sidewalls were failing with noticeable bulging in several places and replaced with brand new tire (minus small prorated warranty + installation fee). Drove away happy and assuming was just a fluke but within 20 miles on way out of town driving normal 65 MPH on major freeway the brand new tire blew out with complete inner sidewall failure. Was very scary and at night but managed to pull over and replace with the spare. Next day the tire shop replaced with another new tire which unfortunately was of the exact same lot and date # as that was all they had in stock. Took talking to the

steering 1 complaint shown
The steering column generates a sound similar to ice and rocks sloshing around whenever the vehicle changes position--from stop to start, or acceleration or deceleration. I have taken it to Toyota dealership. Was told they could not hear this sound. Nothing done to repair or replace, but sound persists. The car has 48,000 miles on it now--sounds began around 35,000 miles. Subsequent email to Toyota.com to report problem. Was referred back to dealership. *tr
