My 2006 Hyundai sonata air bag light illuminated on my dash. I took my car into the dealer on 12/9/15 and after a $120 diagnosis fee was told that I needed to replace the seat belt buckle and that the cost would be near $500. Unfortunately, I do not have the money to replace the part and was told that my air bags will not work. I have seen many more complaints about this same problem. This is a safety issue and there should be a recall for this issue! *js

Passenger right side airbag warning light is intermittently on. Diagnosis was "passenger side pre tensioner" since this time the problem has not been solved. The seat itself was replaced, but the problem still remains in december 2012. Service says that the occupant weight less than 110 may cause the warning, but the december 2012 diagnosis used 3 different people (100,120, and 170 pounds) and found no problem. When the light is on, there is no assurance that the airbag will function in a crash.after the december 28 check the warning light has not come on but only one short drive from dealer. *tr

The vehicle was taken back to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the mat sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 79,411. Updated 04/08/16*lj
Passenger side "air bag" light has come on. Passenger air bag "on/off" light flashes back and forth when the seat is occupied. Have seen many reports of same on the internet - same year, make and model of automobile. It is reported to be very expensive to repair but sounds like a recall is in order as many vehicles have been found to share the problem not associated with normal wear and tear. *tr
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Hyundai sonata. The contact was driving approximately 35 MPH when the air bag warning indicator illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer ten times for the defect. In addition, the front passenger and driver side seat buckles were replaced on a separate occasion due to the seat belts not properly operating but the failure continued after the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 19,313. Kmj

My airbag light has been on for approximately 8 months. I had it to the dealer and they said it was a loose connection. They "re-connected" and the light went off. Now it has been back on for about 2 months. Also I have a hard time connecting my driver seat belt, one time I had to drive without it at all since I could not get it to snap in at all. Also the passenger seat belt display light flashes even when there is no one sitting in the seat. I called and apparently I am not a part of the recall for the airbag. My sister has the same car, same year and has the same issues. I find this hard to believe that this is an isolated problem. *tr
One morning that I started the car, my airbag light wouldn't go off after the start-up. It has been 5 months since this light came on, and I brought it to a Hyundai dealer's service center. After their diagnostic, they said it's a sensor in the driver's seat belt had shorten out and it's causing airbag sign to come on. The mechanic also told me that this means that in case of accident that my driver-side airbag wouldn't inflate. This seems like a common problem after reading several websites about this particular model and year's airbag light problem, but Hyundai is keep denying their responsibility. Another thing that it's shocking to me is that in case a person is driving without a seatbelt, airbag wouldn't inflate, just as an electrical failure in seatbelt buckle can cause mal

On december 30th 2012 time:11.52 am while making a slow turn into a parking area of sikh temple, 16000 stirling road, southwest ranches,fl33331 tel: 954 680 0221,my 2006 Hyundai sonata suddenly accelerated uncontrollably for no reason,an accident resulted with minor damaged to other property and minor damage to the front of the 2006 sonata. Is there anything wrong with the vehicle's speed control? *tr
I own an 06 Hyundai sonata and was hearing a growling noise which became louder with increased speed. After going to the dealer on three separate occasions with the hope of identifying the problem, I was informed that I needed to replace the two front wheel bearings (to a tune of $1100.00). I am shocked by this considering this is a farely new vehicle. I read complaint and defect reports on the NHTSA website which sited frame corrosion issues in models up to 2002. My concern is that this is the same type of issue but my car is not acknowledged or included because it is a 2006 model. I know that Hyundai claims to have improved the engineering of their newer models; however, it just seems ironic that I am needing to replace the wheel bearing (which is included in the frame) at such an early

Driving on highway from a family event doing 65 miles an hour. Experienced extreme instability. ESC light came on dashboard making us think problem was electronic. Continuing at a reduced speed, the car continued to dart to left. On a highway off ramp, the car darted toward the left hand guardrail, with rear tire squealing. We were still 50 miles from home. Limped the car home to bring to our mechanic. We took it to firestone in ct. The mechanic put it on the lift and inspected it. Found it to have extensive corrosion on the subframe in the back end. We could of been killed. He told me not to drive the car until the problem was fixed. *tr

The parking lights will automatically come on by itself when the car is off and there's no key in the ignition. I have returned to my car from work and the lights would be on draining the battery. In addition, while driving the parking lights will come on and go off as well as in the dash when the switch is in the off position. I have video but it's not downloading. *js
