I purchased a 2006 land rover lr3 se in dec. 2005. It has approx. 13k miles and I was about to rotate the tires when I noticed that the inside tread on both rear tires had worn completely through exposing the steel belts while the outside portion of the tread was not worn at all. It appeared to have a significant camber misalignment on both rear wheels. It was so dangerous, I called roadside assistance to tow the vehicle instead of driving and risk blowing the tire on the way to the dealership. After dealer inspection the dealer agreed to pay only half the cost to replace the tires and said that factory camber settings would require us to replace all 4 tires approximately every 10k miles (every 6 months). They are charging me $769 for 2 tires - that would cost $1500 every 6 months!!

I bought a 2006 lr3 about a year ago from a dealer in south florida. The vehicle only has 39k miles on it and last week the suspension fault indicator came on. I took the truck to the dealer to have a diagnostic and they told me that the suspension compressor is not working. To replace the part is $1200 because the car is no longer under warranty. If the compressor fails, the suspension fails and the truck can end up riding on the tires at any time until the compressor is fixed. I spoke with land rover north america and they will not pay to replace the defective part. So now I am stuck with a $1200 repair on a vehicle that only has 39k miles. *tr

As we were driving, the suspension fault light came on and immediately went off. We thought it may be due to the road conditions. About 30 minutes later, we stopped to gas up and when we were back on the road, the radio would not work. No sound but a cracking sound was coming from the radio. After a hour, the radio came back on. Last week, I was driving and the suspension light was came on and off every 5 or 10 minutes, it seemed. Then a loud chime with a suspension fault in red letters. At a stop light, the vehicle was going up and down like it has a mind of its own. Kindly of spooky. Of course, our 2006 lr3 is out of warranty. I called the dealer and it will cost $125 for a diagnosis but it will go toward the cost of the service whatever is needed. All I see is major dollars s

My wife owns a 2006 land rover lr3. The vehicle is less than 1 year old, and the rear tires are bald. They have approximately 16,000 miles of use. This is clearly a problem with either the car or the tires, and the dealership acknowledged that it was a problem with the alignment of the vehicle. I am concerned because my vehicle was in for a regular service a month ago, and land rover neither mentioned the problem nor took any action to correct the defect. Now that the tires are gone, land rover is fixing the problem and replacing the tires. My concern comes from the fact that the tires were worn enough to expose the material under the tread. The wear takes place on the insides of the rear tires, and so is not visible to a casual glance. If we had not noticed the damage when we did,

Shortly after purchasing my new 2006 lr3 I started noticing uneven tire wear and requested that the tires be rotated and for the service department to check the front end for proper alignment. On the following maintenance service the dealer said that the warranty had expired for front end alignments and there was nothing they could do unless I paid for it. Now at about 35,000 miles I'm noticing exposed plys on the inner part of the rear tires and am concerned to drive it. This model definitely has a problem(s) causing premature tire wear which I fear may cause blowouts at high speeds thus causing serious injury or death. I understand that land rover issued a technical service bulletin la 204-005 in the us in october 2006, which covers vins from 5a000360 to 6a403382 that states that uneven

Land rover lr3's have a faulty rear tailgate release mechanism that could lead to being trapped in the car. My rear tailgate would not open is controlled by an electronic actuator....so I looked in the owners manual to see where the manual release is....guess what there is not one...so if this little cable brakes that is attached to the rear tailgate actuator..there is no way to manual open the tailgate from inside or outside of the vehicle. After looking on the internet at various land rover forums..I have found this to be a problem on lr3's. If you where unable to get the front doors in the event of an emergency and had to exit the rear...if that cable is broke...it is impossible to manually release the rear tailgate..you are stuck in the car..I took the car to the land rover dealership

2006 land rover model lr3 -leased. Vehicle has delayed acceleration from a stop or slow speed- vehicle hesitates. Vehicle is used on roadways in florida. I brought the vehicle to the dealer three times and the problem persists. Delayed acceleration poses grave safety risks to occupants when attempting to accelerate for turn, start, etc. According to the dealers repair orders the following was done: 5-18-06 reflash transfer box control module, configuration of new ECU; reset adaption: 6-26-06- faulty engine management-system diagnosis includes configuration of new ECU;inspect delivery valve and rework compressor;remove spigot and check spigot and reinforcement plate nut ,located and reinstall spigot; 7-3-06-engine management system diagnosis includes configuration of new ECU;drive cycle'

Check for transmission software update, as it initially seemed to have the must discussed problem of harsh and irregular shifting when rolling to a stop and then re-accelerating. This problem has continued intermittantly and now the vehicle sometimes drops completely out of gear when slowing down or turning. The vehicle then dropped out of gear and I had no acceleration, as it was suddenly like I was in neutral. High RPM.... But no movement. After a few seconds, the transmission seems to find "drive" and I can then move forward with normal acceleration. *tr

I just purchased a 2006 landrover lr3 with cold climate package which includes a heated front windshield. My complaint is that when driving at night any head light from on coming cars or street signs is automatically blurred by the vertical element lines that are in the windshield. (there are many vertical heat element lines across the windshield). Any bright light viewed at night tends to be blurred which can make driving a bit more dangerous. As I have searched, there are other car makers who offer front heated windshields. Have there been any studies regarding this. *jb

The brake rotors on my land rover became severely warped at 12,744 miles. They were replaced under warranty, but brake rotors should not warp with so few miles on them. I think this is a problem with all land rovers based on comments from the dealer. *tr

2006 lr3 with only 93k miles had the timing chain break while on the highway and the engine immediately shut down. The vehicle has a full service history at an authorized land rover dealer showing recommended maintenance has been performed during the life of the vehicle. The damage to the engine (valves etc.) is estimated at $5500 to repair. The timing chain is made of metal and based on industry expertise is not supposed to break for the life of the engine or past 200,000+ miles. Research online shows this has happened to other lr3 owners with vehicles with less than 100k miles. Based upon the expectations for the lifespan of a timing chain and other similar incidents, I believe there may be a defective part on this vehicle associated with the timing chain and it's related components. I own a 2006 landrover lr3 with 21,000 miles. All four tires were found to wearing only on the inside only by the dealer at 16,000 miles. At 21,000 miles the dealer informed me that all four tires are dangerously worn and that they need to be replaced. They are worn on the inside only. *tr
