The dashboard has cracked in several areas and the issue seems to be getting worse daily. I've contacted Toyota main headquarters complaint department several times and their response was that since the vehicle is out of warranty they will not fix it and it is my responsibility to correct the problem at my expense, I have heard and seen many reports that this is a systemic problem due to use of inferior parts used by Toyota and other manufacturers. Class action suits have been initiated to address this problem.I wish to formerly file my complaint with your agency as a point of record . Incidentally I had maintained a very expensive extended warranty policy for six years after my purchase and it seems strange that Toyota wasn't aware of this problem prior to it's expiration. *js
Entire dashboard cracked and continued for several months. There are multiple cracks all over the dashboard. My son had the same thing happen to his 2006 solara convertible two months prior to ours. Both cars were always garaged and had very few miles on them. My son had about 18,000 and we had about 16,000. We both called Toyota and we were each told it was beyond warranty and there was nothing they could do. *tr
The dash pad surface started to become dark in color and sticky to the touch in the sunshine. The dash pad material was very shiny and sticky to the touch, almost like a liquid. The glare from the shiny, sticky surface causes a glare on the inside of the windshield that makes the car dangerous to drive...and a greater concern are the airbags in the dash affected by this surface deterioration. I took the car to two local Toyota dealerships seeking resolution and was told they have seem numerous instances of this and there was nothing they could do short of my paying approx. $1,500 to replace the part. Contact with Toyota customer care had them telling me I had done something to cause the situation. To-date the car (my wife's vehicle) sits inside, under a custom car cover and has less t
My 2006 Toyota camry solara's dashboard is cracked and more cracks seem to appear out of nowhere. The vehicle is garaged and under shade during the day. It has been cracked for years and continues the same trend. I've seen other toyotas with cracked dashboards, there must be a service bulletin for this. I could ignore it for a while, but now it has gone too far. *tr

I have a 2006 Toyota camery v6 and it has major transmission problems. The transmission doesn't properly change gears. The car drives slower than a car with a v4 engine. It seems to stall for a few seconds when attempting to change gears. I've taken it the dealer 4 times. Currently this car only has 12,000 miles and the dealer changed the transmission once. When I came back again and again with the same complaint the dealer claims that the car is operating as designed. I've gone into arbitration with Toyota and they claim that there's nothing wrong with this car. *tr

suspension 1 complaint shown
My 2006 Toyota camry, bought brand new, had only 14,606 miles and driven 5 years and 11 months, when I brought it to the dealer for a new battery. Dealer hoisted it and the mechanic told me that the rubber control arm bushings (lower suspension) were tearing and therefore, both left and right side control arms needed replacement. . Cost: $988.38 less 10% discount. The rubber bushing flexes up and gown when the control arm moves and is subject to age deterioration and damage from road debris like salt, snow, etc. The bushing is only partially shielded by the car frame. If the bushing tears more, the control arm could fall and the car would lose steering ability - a very serious safety issue. I saw the same complaint for another 2006 camry and 1996 camry on the NHTSA web site. I wrot
seatbelts 1 complaint shown
The front passenger seat belt gets tangled whenever it is pulled out in order to buckle when someone is sitting in the passenger seat. This does not happen on the driver's side. Normally you have to move the adjustable slide for the seat belt oh the side of the car up and down repeatedly in order to get the seat belt entangled in order to use it properly. It has now become fully extended and will not retract at all making it unusable. I bought the car used in 2011 and it has been happening since then. *tr
