1. Turning right in 2008 Toyota tundra out of parking lot at work or into traffic, I decelerate preparing to turn right and remove pressure from gas pedal and brake during the turn. When I reapply pressure to the gas pedal during the turn the truck does not accelerate only the engine accelerates. Adding additional pressure to the gas pedal only causes the engine to accelerate more. When the transmission engages the truck surges forward suddenly. 2. This slipping in the transmission happens every day. The consequence of driving this vehicle is when will the transmission slip and when will the transmission engage. 3. Have talked to the dealer (2) two times about this issue and the dealer tells me it is normal for this vehicle to react in this manner. The dealer says there is nothing they

The check engine light came on and the vehicle won't accelerate over 45 MPH. Almost caused me to have an accident. Seems like Toyota knows about this problem and won't do anything to recall the problem. *tr
The transmission and transfer case on our 2008 tundra 4wd drive has failed, repeatedly this past week while operating the vehicle on a public street. In this "fail" condition, the transfer case makes a grinding nose, the transfer case alarm buzzer makes nose and irrespective of transmission position or transfer case selection (2wd, 4wd hi, 4wd lo) fails to engage in low or hi, and most troubling, the vehicle will roll in any gear, no gear will engage, and the car can roll forward or backwards out of control. I was almost hit a by a car today because I could not get the truck to engage in any gear, in any setting, inspite of attempts to roll the vehicle slightly down the hill to allow for the transfer case to engage, as suggested in the owner's manual. While I am not pleased with the (
I have a remote start system on my truck, I remote start my truck. The truck was parked on a level surface, nose pointing in towards house. The driveway drops off into a slope, but the truck was on the flat surface area. We go outside to get in it, and it's gone. It's not in the driveway and it's no where to be seen. I look over towards the creek, nope not there. Look out front, there's my truck and it is backed up on half in the street half in then the front yard. It's sitting where our mailbox should be. It is running and side marker lights are lit. I go look, open the drivers door to see if anybody is in it, nope, not a soul. It's in park, the 4 wd lo alarm is beeping, the 4lo LED is lit on the dash, however, the switch/knob is still on the 2wd mode position. I press the brake pedal an

While driving the truck bounces on certain concrete highways between 60 and 70 MPH. You can't even talk because of it. I am not exaggerating at all, I had a headache because of all the bouncing around and I am concerned for my children sitting in the back seat where it's most prone. The bounce gets so bad at times it seems the truck could lose control. *tr
We recently bought an 2008 Toyota tundra v6 4x2 double cab. I noticed a terrible bed bounce that makes us the passengers and driver dizzy and nauseated. I personally feel it is not a safe truck because this can cause road accidents. I went to the dealer and had this complaint but they say it is the trucks normal characteristic and nothing can be done. I don't think owning and driving an expensive truck just to feel dizzy and nauseated is normal. Can you please help us with this. Toyota should do something to correct this for safety. If I have a pregnant woman riding this car, she will probably have an abortion due to the bed bounce. *tr
On december 3, 2011 I was driving with my family on a paved local road and the front driver's side of the truck just dropped several inches after a loud snap sound. Initially I thought the front wheel had come of the truck somehow because it was a fairly violent drop. I pulled over and inspected the wheel, everything looked to be in tact. Next I got on the ground and noticed right away that the front strut had snapped in half. I considered this to be a major safety problem, so I contacted my local Toyota dealership and let them know what happened. The response I got was... "how many miles are on your tundra"? I replied 46,500. The next response was very disappointing - with no other inquiry into the situation, the technician said, "well, you are outside of the 3yr / 36,000 mile warran
Anyone familiar with "shaken baby" syndrome will recognize this defect. On certain sections of pavement and at certain speeds, this vehicle sets up a harmonic vibration and shakes so violently that infants are at risk. The events are easily repeated and are known to the manufacturer. *tr

Also my 08 tundra just like my 03 Toyota sequoia has the paint coming off the hood and very top of truck including chipping and pain coming off and clear coat, has to be bad paint there using.
The truck bed floor has rusted at all four hold down bolts and has expanded to other aspects of truck bed floor itself.
The 2016 Toyota Frame Rust Settlement (Burns v. Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.): This $3.4 billion class action directly addresses premature corrosion in 2007–2008 Tundras (and similar models). It claims Toyota “knowingly failed to apply adequate rust protection,” leading to frame perforation despite later treatments like HOF. The settlement’s “recurrent perforation” clause applies even after HOF. My rusted-through fuel tank strap and holes in the rear cross member qualify. HOF RO# XXX. Claim #XXX My 2008 Tundra SR5 TRD was treated with HOF in Nov 2017. In November 2025 my mechanic told me the gas tank was falling out as the straps that hold the tank in place were completely rotted out. And rust perforation was on the rear cross member. He instructed me to get a safety inspection

We have had issues with the power door locks on our Toyota tundra. The truck does not lock or unlock with the fob or with the door locks. It is an issue with all the doors. It is erratic as to which door respond to the fob and which don't. It changes everyday. Something is probably wrong with the actuator or computer. It is a nuisance, inconvenience and dangerous;in a case of an emergency, one wants to be able to open one's doors quickly. This was discovered a year ago and continues to be an issue. *tr
secondary air pump failure, truck has a tough time accelerating, I’ve unhooked the pipes and drained the water out the pipes but that did little good. The check engine light is on, “VSC OFF” light blanks on and off, as well as the “slippery tire” sign stays on.
While completely stopped in interstate traffic, I was rear ended by another vehicle. The driver was traveling approximately 55-60 MPH before he slammed on his brakes. Upon the collision, the driver's seat I was sitting in slid backwards on the adjustable seat track towards the rear of the vehicle and my seat fully reclined. After the collision, my seat was fully reclined and I was laying down in my seat. While I received no further injuries because of this incident, had a passenger been sitting behind me (particularly a child in a child restraint), they would have been more severely injured by my seat sliding backwards and reclining. *tr

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2008 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 43,893. It was later discovered that the CarFax report listed the mileage at 243,893.
Vehicle accelerates slow where it takes time for truck to gain spread. Also the cruise control doesn’t work for some reason when button is pushed the cruise light comes on but truck doesn’t cruise on its own.

My 2008 tundra suddenly showed multiple dash lights when I started it. It ran rough, tried code reader on it ,again multiple codes at once. Every item can't bad all at same time. The main problem was air pump failure, have a feeling it's associated with exhaust problem. Truck has been ticking since about a month after I bought it brand new, I just assumed that's the way it was since it quiets after warms up. Turns out manifold is cracked by the pump. Of course warranty is up. After reading online seems like a lot of people are having same problem. Have had it several times over the years for oil changes etc. . The dealership's know there is a problem and ignore them. I have two other Toyota cars and this is the first Toyota truck I've bought . Toyota we'll have a bigger problem when go ba

A report was filed on this incident under complaint number11171605. I'm looking for a follow up. Has there been any recalls on these airbags? I am of the opinion that my airbag was over pressurized thereby knocking me out for about 10 to 12 minutes and causing me serious bodily injuries, I.e. Several bulging and herniated disc, a fracture l5, and hair line fracture of ribs. It's been almost 2 yrs. And I'm still suffering from neck and back pain and I have had a back operation to repair my l5.
