To whom it may concern, I am very happy to see your organization taking an interest in this issue. It is a very dangerous problem with this vehicle that bmwna is well aware of, but insists that it is "normal behavior" for my car/transmission. I brought the car into the dealer, and they were able to reproduce it, but they were told by BMW that this was "normal behavior." the problem occurs when you slow down- like for a turn, but do not come to a complete stop. The DCT transmission seems to have trouble figuring out what gear to select because when you step on the gas to accelerate, there is a very significant delay in the onset of power- up to 2-3 seconds. By this time, the driver is usually really digging into the throttle. The transmission finally picks a gear, which results in the

The dual clutch transmission (DCT) in my car, a 2009 BMW m3 routinely hesitates when pushing the accelerator in 2nd gear. The hesitation is long enough to have put me and my passengers in grave danger. In fact, it has almost caused a number of accidents when merging with highway traffic. This is unacceptable and needs to be immediately corrected before someone is seriously injured or killed. *tr

Hello, I recently purchased a 2009 BMW m3 with the DCT transmission. The transmission acts like a sequential manual shifter, allowing the driver to shift up and down at their will. These shifts happen instantaneously, within fractions of a second. Additionally, when coming to a stop, the car will downshift to 1st gear on its own, instead of relying on driver input, as a matter of convenience. All of this is normal, advertised, and expected behavior. There are times, however, when the car is decelerating but not coming to a full stop (when taking a turn at an intersection, for example), that the transmission will begin its automated downshifts but then become incredibly unresponsive. In these cases, if I press on the accelerator before coming to a full stop, I'll notice a significant

I was driving on a two-lane street (one-lane each direction) and as I was approaching a stoplight I turned on my left turn signal and started to move into the dedicated left-hand turn lane. As I did this I needed to downshift as I slowed down for the stopped traffic ahead at the light. When I shifted to second gear and pressed the accelerator to move into the turn lane my car would not engage into gear. I was almost rear-ended from the cars behind me but luckily my car's transmission engaged at the last second and I cleared the lane I was in. But because I was pressing the accelerator so hard to try to get the clutch to engage, when it finally did I shot off across the left-hand turn lane into the lane of on-coming traffic. I was able to steer clear before being hit head-on by on-coming tr

This complaint is for a 2009 BMW m3 coupe with the dual-clutch transmission (DCT). I am experiencing major shift lag trying to reaccelerate after slowing down. Basically, the 2nd gear will fail to catch / engage when I put my foot on the gas pedal causing the car stall for a second or two. After that, the gear will engage abruptly and I will be pulled violently forward. This has resulted in several near-accident situations: 1. I almost rear-ended someone when the gear engaged abruptly with the car jerking forward at a stop light when it turned green as I was approaching, slowing down to 2nd gear. 2. I was almost t-boned at a non-regulated intersection. I was slowing down when approaching the intersection. The car downshifted to 2nd gear for me and about 1/4 way into the intersection,

Hello. I have a 2009 BMW m3 with the DCT transmission. I am experiencing significant delays when down shifting from one gear to a lower gear. The problem occurs when you slow down, like for a turn, but do not come to a complete stop. The DCT transmission seems to have a serious problem figuring out what gear to select because when you step on the gas to accelerate, there is a very significant delay in the power engaging. I would say about 2-4 seconds. By this time, I am really stepping on the gas pedal. The transmission finally picks a gear, which results in the car suddenly lurching forward, sometimes engaging the anti-skip control. This problem becomes most apparent when making a turn into on-coming traffic, slowing down to around 10-15 MPH. After the turn, the car is positioned in the

2009 BMW m3 DCT (dual clutch transmission) exhibits a serious lag/hesitation when trying to accelerate from a rapid rolling stop. When this issue occurs in an intersection or at a stop light, a serious safety issue exists of being t-boned or slammed in the rear. When reported to BMW they claim it "works as designed". Guess someone needs to be seriously injured or killed before BMW will resolve this issue. *tr

Vehicle lost power while taking a turn. I was able to restart it and drive to a nearby parking lot. I drove around slowly to test and noticed knocking noise from the engine. I also noticed engine temperature was above normal, not quite to the next marker, but close. At that point, I had the car towed to a BMW service shop. Their diagnosis was rod bearing failure which LED to crankshaft damage, resulting in an engine, with only 57k mi, that is no longer reusable. I am now facing engine replacement costs of $15-25k.

Takata recall driving my car for about 30 minutes on the local street and stopped at a red light, light turns green, I try to accelerate and engine felt sluggish and shuts off. Towed the car to mrf engineering and car needed an "engine replacement" as my rod bearings caused the engine to fail. Costed roughly around $19,000 in parts and labor.

We were driving our 2009 BMW 335i on fwy 5 south at about 65 MPH , the check engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument pane. It sputtered and stalled repeatedly, we have to drive really slow to get home, next day I got it in authorized dealer, the technician stated that the fuel pump contributed to the failure. The fuel pump was replaced this happened to my 2 times , this is a very unsafe problem could cause accident if we in a mid of passing other car on fwy . The government should require BMW recall all vehicles with this pump, this seam to be the ongoing problem with 335i sean 2007 and BMW still didn't fix it, this is new 2009 BMW 335i only have 2500 miles on it. *tr

Takata recall - I received notice of my driver side airbag at the beginning of this year but the BMW still does not have the part. This car is my daily driver and I do not have the luxury to have a second car. I am driving a car that is putting my life at risk. BMW states they do not have enough, yet they have plenty to sell millions of new cars. I find this absolutely ridiculous! My wife's Toyota was also recalled and it took a few months to get replaced, but not BMW. I would like to suggest a change to recalls where manufactures would have to stop or reduce the production numbers of new cars for until all recalls have been satisfied for extremely dangerous recalls. Maybe then we can have manufactures take the issue seriously.

Shortly after purchasing my BMW 2009 m3, I noticed a rare but very disturbing pattern on take off. I had car checked in dealer and I was told it was likely secondary to my driving style! This uncontrolled take off is like hi rev and rapid acceleration periodically alternating with deceleration for few seconds. I had this happen prob a dozen time so far(36k on car). On day of my accident, in stop and go traffic with speed less than 5 miles per hour, car literally went off on me. It accelerated to hit the car in front and then managed to push the car into another 3 cars in front, before it came to a stall. I am not sure if it was exactly like my previous episodes because the distance between my car and next car was short. What I am sure is that I had no control on car. *tr

Vehicle would not start and all electrical systems were dead despite a good battery. Was solved by removing glove box and fus box and pushing on the battery cable that goes into the fuse box to get a connection. This is a know issue for BMW and a recall was issued on other 3-series vehicles (2007 - 2011) with the same part numbers, but will not cover m3. This is a safety issue as loss of power to fuse box while driving can shut down the car.

The car suddenly vibrated and the wheels locked up and skidded slightly sideways before going into a reduced power mode. If it had been raining or snowing, or at a higher speed on highway the situation could have been deadly. I had the car taken to the dealer. I was told a the throttle actuator valve was defective. The car has only 44k miles but has surpassed the 4 years of warranty. This is a known issue with thousands of cars affected. BMW refuses to recall and repair the item if the car is not under warranty. The cost for repair is $3000.00 the part alone is $1200.00 which I was quoted. My vehicle is also affected by the takata airbag recall.

I was driving on a side road at the allotted speed limit., I was on a single lane road. I then went over a pothole- not a huge crater. After which my steering wheel became crooked and the dsc failure warning on my BMW came up. I took it to the dealer ship and they said that I have damage to my rear sub frame(bent), I apparently happens under normal driving circumstances-the cost for repairing is 4000$. It is not covered under warranty. I have to pay for it. It looks like to avoid these incidents I should not be driving on roads - as I was not speeding nor was I involved in a collision with another car. I could have avoided the pothole - at the expense of going into the opposite lane and hitting the other car. I have contacted everyone at BMW., none helps. I hope this is my last resort for
