My 2009 Hyundai sonata with about 46k miles had brakes begin screeching with a metal-on-metal sound when braking. In fact, the sound continued when accelerating after completing a stop. On friday 12/26/14, the car repair shop replaced the pads and rotors. The next day, the brakes were quiet but overheated to such an extreme that there was a strong burning smell and the wheel could not be touched for fear of burning your hand. Returning to the car repair shop, one of the new rotors was completely black from the extreme heat. The pads, rotor, and calipers required completely replacing - even the new ones just purchased. This is a safety issue that Hyundai needs to take responsibility for, issue recalls, and pay for my repairs. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2009 Hyundai sonata. The contact stated that after taking his vehicle to a certified dealer for regular service, they informed him that his rear brakes were worn due to the caliber sensor failing. When the caliber sensor failed, the wheels would lock up if not replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000. The VIN was unavailable.
I had my rear brakes and rotors replaces in february 2012 at around 60k miles. In october 2012 again my car felt like it was dragging and I heard the tell tale squealing of the brakes so I took it back to the repair shop to be told my rear brakes and rotors again were worn out and chewed through, and no that my calipers had seized and I would need to pay yet again to have this issue repaired. The mechanic made a comment that the only time he'd ever seen this before was from young people doing "power slides" on their cars, something I would never do (I am 28 years old). Upon research I find this is a well documented problem when searching online for break problems with this car for model years 2006-2010, enough that there is even a class action lawsuit in new york. While driving on a freeway at approximately 70mph, my sonata stopped accelerating. I had to pull off the road in the middle of traffic as my car was rapidly decelerating. I turned off the ignition, and after letting it set for a few minutes, I was able to start up again and proceed without trouble. This has happened three times in since, both on a freeway and once on a side street. I am on my way to my dealer today to check this out. Also, I have checked the internet, and found that this is a common occurrence among these models.

Takata recall. I was told that the electrical module is defective by autozone,. We were driving down the highway when all of a sudden the engine light came on. We pulled over to check the usual stuff like oil and antifreeze and other fluids. But all of them were ok. We tried to leave again with no success. We had no power. The engine would turn over but when we tried to press the gas nothing would go. So we stopped the car waited for a while and then the car started. We countinued our trip carefully, but the check engine light was still on. After we arrived to our destination I went to autozone to check the problem. They said the eletrical and cpu modules are damaged. That of course has me a little worried. We have only had the car for a year so it couldnt be for that reason.

Excessively cracked dashboard. The entire dash in my 2009 Hyundai Sonata is cracked and a replacement has been denied by Hyundai USA. A cracked dashboard could cause reduced structural integrity. The dashboard is a structural component designed to help absorb and distribute some of the forces in a collision. Cracks can compromise this ability to perform this function potentially increasing the force experienced by the occupants and the and other parts of the vehicle. It can also cause increased risk of debris and shrapnel. During a collision the cracked dashboard may break apart more easily causing sharp or jagged pieces to become projectiles inside of the cabin these fragments can pose a serious injury risk to occupants. It can also result in an impaired airbag deployment. Many vehicles
