Tl* the contact owns a 2011 BMW 550i. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle would not shift back into park. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed that the wiring that connected to the fuse box and battery was not properly attached to the trunk floor panel, which caused the fuse box and battery to melt. The carpet in the trunk was scorched and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure mirrored NHTSA campaign number: 12v126000 (electrical system). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000.

Our car's electrical panel lit up before the car stalled on two separate occasions. The first time, BMW replace the battery. The second time, BMW replaced the alternator. 12 days after being serviced by BMW, our house burned down due to a fire originating on the front left side of the BMW. That afternoon, my husband had come home from work, parked the car in the garage, and turned it off. The fire started within 30minutes of being shut off and parked. We received a letter in the mail informing us our BMW was under recall for a malfunctioning fuel pump injector.
I have prepared a pdf document that I would like to submit as well. I can supply it at any time. Here is the short version. 10/17/13: I have the family come with me for a ride and then the vehicle begins to malfunctions and the check engine light comes back on. The vehicle is struggling to even drive at this point and I am on the freeway trying to make it to an exit. The hesitation becomes worse and worse I start to fear that I may become stranded on a busy roadway. I make it off the exit and home. 10/18/13: (d/o vehicle mileage: 29,375) I take the vehicle to concord BMW for inspection; [xxx] is the service consultant at BMW of concord. 10/19/13: (p/u vehicle mileage: 29,379) [xxx] telephones me to inform me that it was a quick fix and the vehicle was ready to be picked up. This vehicle has had multiple recalls. The latest one was campaign no. 18v-248. BMW has yet to do anything for my vehicle, even after it burnt itself to the ground and a portion of my home. They did not add any explanation or attempt to investigate this situation. It is still undefined how this vehicle lit itself on fire as it was parked and turned off sitting in my garage, after just being driven 5-10 minutes before the fire started.
This car has been in the shop many times since I purchased it in 2014. First, it was unknown issues that resulted in the injectors, spark plugs, and battery being replaced. That did not fix the problem and it went back to them several more times before they eventually brought an engineer in that determined that it was a stretched timing chain. This resulted in a new timing chain and all parts associated at 60,000 miles. Since then we have had recall work a couple of times. We have had to have turbo coolant lines replaced and we had to have a new water pump put in at 80,000 miles because ours apparently fell apart. The car needs a quart of oil every 500-700 miles (this has been an issue since the beginning but it has progressively gotten worse) and the newest problem is that it threw a driv

Engine information center says to add oil, in between oil changes, numerous times. Car shut down on road and was taken to a dealer. Dealer says the engine has seized. Since the vehicle is just over the warranty by miles, pax 500 miles, I was told that I would be responsible for the repairs. The car only has just over 50k miles. It was purchased with 40k miles on it but was purchased from a dealer not BMW. Is there anything that can be done?
BMW n63 customer care package: a recall b001314 that BMW refuses to call a recall. Im having problum with the car burning oil every 200 miles had fuel injectors replace twice. Car stills runs bad. My car only has 84k on it and I have had so many problums out of it oil chance has always been on time.
I was driving my car and all of a sudden the entire car started shaking. I get multiple engine malfunction lights and then get a "reduced power" alert on my dashboard. The car goes into "limp-mode", which means it's incapable of going past 40-45 MPH and going anything above 25 results in violent shaking of the car. Also at red lights, the entire car vibrates. The fault was determined to be the fuel injectors in the engine, however I already knew that by simply looking up the symptoms. Thousands of BMW 5-series made between 2011-2012 have this issue, yet BMW is not recalling them, but rather fixing them on a one-by-one basis. If someone is out of warranty, like me, they are then charging nearly $6,000 for a fault that affects over 50% of 2011 BMW 550i's made! BMW forums everywhere talk a
powertrain 3 complaints shown
I bought the car on may 6, 2015 with about 53k miles on it. Drove it for only about 45 days and while driving the car the drivetrain malfunction and other lights came on and the car lost power and stopped immediately. At first, I thought it was the battery and had the car jumped but that didn't work. The care engine was totally dead, no sound no anything other than the engine light that popped on before it stopped. I had purchased an extended warranty from gwc at the purchase of the car so informed them. I had the car towed to a place (lmc auto in norcross georgia) that gwc was willing to pay for repairs. Lmc said the engine was locked and needed to be replaced. Gwc refused to replace the engine because of the expense and instead had lmc auto repair the engine. Needless to say, lmc

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 BMW 550i. While driving 35 MPH, the drive train malfunction warning message illuminated. The contact also stated that when depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle shook violently, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle stalled along with the drive train warning light. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 49,500.
airbags 2 complaints shown
I was rear ended on the left side exiting the freeway when my car spun to the right into a guardrail head on and continued into a 360 degree motion. The roads were clear and normal weather conditions. After my vehicle stopped spinning my vehicle had a message stating restraint system failure and the airbags never deployed. The impact of hitting the guard rail with tremendous force should've deployed my airbags. My bumper, whole front grill, and headlights were shattered all over the highway. My whole back left side is dented in and my wheel is tilted. I would love to post pictures if possible and you will wonder how could the airbags not deploy. I would like to hear from BMW. *tr

Regarding: n63 fuel pump failure on 2011 BMW 550i gt VIN # [xxx] dear NHTSA recently I had a serious issue relating to the fuel delivery system on my 2011 BMW 550i gt. I was accelerating on a busy freeway ramp with my two young sons aboard, and my car went into limp mode. This put us in a precarious situation when at the moment I needed brisk acceleration, my car was unable to achieve even 40mph. It almost caused me to have an accident. I had no choice but to get this issue serviced at BMW of san francisco since this is my daily driver. When all was said and done the bill came to a little over $2100 which included about $450 in diagnostics. Now that the dust has had a chance to settle, I'd like some recompense on the following issues. 'the high-pressure fuel pump failu
This vehicle when being used has excessive consumption of oil and oil leaks. This problem cause the engine, engine turbos, valve stems and seals and oil pan seals to go bad prior to normal vehicle engine/part life. There is currently a settled class action lawsuit that replaces the engine at a percentage based on miles on car at time of bad engine test. But I believe this is also a possible safety issue and should be treat more like a recall not a suit. You can view more information regarding this suit at https://bangclasssettlement.com

I was driving on a back road about 40 MPH. No other cars and nothing but bushes around me. I heard a huge loud bang and my sunroof just abruptly shattered. I know nothing hit it and if it did it shouldn't have shattered like that. I read another vehicle on here, same model, year and mileage had the same issue! Recall this! *tr
