Surpintine belt shredded due to faulty belt tensioner. Shreds of belt wedged between crankshaft timing sprocket on engine causing engine to jump timing while driving down highway and vehicle lost all power and very hard to steer due to all valves in motor bent because of poor design. Definitely a safety concern. Volvo is aware but does nothing. 11,000 dollars to replace engine.

This in regards to a vehicle I purchased on March 30, 2021. It is a 2012 Volvo S60 T5 VIN #[XXX]. When I purchased the car it had 99,489 miles on the odometer and when the vehicle became an issue it was at 104,409 miles on the odometer. I purchased it on Craigslist from a physician in Maine. On December 1, 2021 my husband was driving the vehicle on the highway and it stalled without warning after almost crashing. He was able to pull over, start the car back up and drive it home. There were no warning alerts or check engine light that came on the dashboard. After browsing the internet, we realized that the car had a recall due to an oil consumption level issue in 2014 (Recall #R29436; National Highway Traffic Safety Administration campaign #13V592000). I contacted Volvo of North America who
The contact owns a 2012 Volvo S60. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the drive belt had failed, causing damage to the timing cover and other drive belts. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 62,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 Volvo s60. The contact stated that while driving at 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who stated that there was no engine oil in the vehicle and diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the low oil pressure warning light failed to illuminate. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,111.
Like many of the complains listed for this make and model, my 2012 Volvo s60 is consuming oil between oil changes with no warning light of low oil pressure showing up. There is no smoke or puddles indicating burning oil or an oil leak. We try to keep a close eye on the oil because the dealer said since it's a turbo it needs extra oil between changes. About a year ago the oil trap was changed because it was leaking. Recently, the car started running rough, like it needed spark plugs,(though it was not time) then the check engine light came on. We found out the 5th cylinder stopped firing and I have a warped head now because of the engine getting too hot. The week before, I could smell the car was burning rich, now I realize it was because of the 5th cylinder and very likely the 'gunk' from

The vehicle was taken to cherry hill Volvo cars (1810 marlton pike west, cherry hill, nj 08002, (856) 665-4050) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the manifold, turbo charger, cylinder block, new piston rods were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made not aware of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 13v592000 (engine and engine cooling) as a possible solution to the failure however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 151,031.
2012 Volvo 60, needs new engine. Volvo states its not worth repairing at 81k miles. VIN # [xxx] this car was purchased certified in 2015 from bill gray Volvo, 2897 murrysville road pennsylvania, 15317 I bought a certified 2012 Volvo s60 t5, VIN # [xxx] in 2005 from a dealer in pittsburgh, pa, with 17/k. I maintained the car, with all the required service. The car drives runs well, the check engine was on and when I took it for a state inspection, I was told it had internal engine issues: mis-firing, no compression on cylinder # 1 and low compress on #2 cylinder. I was told it's too expensive to repair. It's well under the 100k warranty, with only 82/k miles but over the 5 year warranty period. I was told replacing the engine is not an option because it will cost 1

As I approached a red light I began to slow down and my car started to shake and then it turned off I was unable to turn on my hazards to warn other drivers or pull over to the side, after a couple seconds the lights came back on and I put the car in p and started it again. It happened again later on the same day.
I was driving down the interstate, suddenly I heard a loud boom. I could hear something sliding down my roof and off the back of the car. I didn't know what was going on, then I heard a wind noise above. I realized that my sunroof was broken and glass was cascading down and flying off of my car. It just spontaneously exploded. I pulled over to look at the sunroof and to see if there was a rock that hit it or something else. There was nothing there except for a shattered sunroof with a huge hole. The glass was pointing upward as if it had exploded from the inside.
Please, please back off on your head rest requirements for safety. Please allow the consumer to choose the position of the head rest. Not only Honda, but Ford, gm, Chrysler, all manufacturers are creating very painful car seats since 2009 due to this awful headrest requirement. Seatbelts are a law, but I choose to wear them. Motorcycle helmets are no longer a law, but I choose to wear them. Now let me choose my headrest position. I think these new designs are going to cause far more injuries and insurance claims from people having their heads cocked forward, in a forced improper posture. I had migraines due to my headrest before I resolved this issue in my car by making modifications. I sit with proper posture and my head is forced forward. The only choice I had was to sit impro

The keyless entry failed one by one. The right front first, then the left front door. I went to dealer, ending up paying more than 500 dollars for fixing it. They said that is caused by the poor design of the door handle which allowed the water to get inside and to damage the sensor and wires.
The sensus/navigation system is plagued with bugs. Frequently my bluetooth fails to connect, audio randomly stops working for all satnav/radio functions, sometimes the screen fails to load up at all. All seems to happen completely randomly. Some days radio functions great but some days I can not listen to any audio at all. Some days my phone connects to bluetooth without me even trying to connect, and some days the satnav radio does not connect at all. I have even gone as far as to reset all network settings on my iphone and remove the iphone from the recent device list; still the phone will not connect to the car. The only thing I have ever seen 'fix' this problem is to stop the car, get out of the vehicle, walk more than 20ft away from the car, lock the car, and wait a few minutes; unloc

Cpsc: on september 8, 2018 around 4:30pm on a saturday, I was running errands and suddenly my curtain airbags on my 2012 Volvo deployed. There was a high pitch, loud screeching noise, a loud pop and all this debris sprayed all over me and the inside of my car and these white plastic airbags (curtains) busted through the roof of my car. *dt *js
