Brake pump failed while on the highway. Brake functionality and braking distance changed drastically while driving high speeds. Dealer confirmed that the breaker pump and master cylinder must be replaced with a new assemblies. There was no recall for this failure, but a Toyota Customer Support Program for replacement of this brake assembly was active for reports of this failure only before April 2023. Toyota dealerships are not obligated to cover this replacement or make customer aware on any suspected vehicle unless the failure was present before April 2023. Warning lamps only appeared at brake pump failure - not before failure.

BRAKE BOOSTER AND BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLIES. making a buzzing noise. cost to repair is estimated to be 2500 or more. Toyota even has a bulletin for it, but they did not inform the public, because the part is very expensive and difficult to fix on a prius. since it has expired, we are out of luck.
Unusual loud clicking and screeching sound as well as vibration feeling under the brake pedal while pressing the brake pedal and brakes don't feel powerful enough despite just getting new brake pads at the dealership and there is much longer distance needed for braking and bringing to a full stop. This has progressively increased since last noticed about 11-12 months ago when the odometer was arount 95000 miles. It started spontaneaously on its own. There was no accident or impact of any kind.
On [XXX], we were driving from Coalinga, CA to Phoenix, AZ for Thanksgiving. As we began to descend into Los Angeles on [XXX], three warning indicators suddenly went on: the ABS warning light, the traction control light and the brake warning light. The brakes still worked but the brake assist was weakened. We pulled over as soon as possible at the nearest AutoZone. The employee performed a standard handheld OBD-II scan of the vehicle and did not detect any issues. We continued on our way through Los Angeles and to San Bernadino where we were spending the night. At one point the indicator lights went off for a few minutes but then came back on. We spent the night in San Bernadino, and the next day (11/26/2025), we took the car into the San Bernadino Toyota Dealership as we felt it was

From day #1 these issues were present on 2013 prius five: lka suddenly stops car over minor car movements ahead, major knocking sounds from engine on cold starts, brake pedal hits floor and suddenly locks up! I now have 20k and hardly drive it now trips skid icon?, bluetooth is erratic, cruise control shuts off or won't turn on when its wet out, drizzles or rains! Is my Toyota my mother warning me not to drive in bumper to bumper traffic, avoid rain or snow, not to use electronics or listen to music while driving and if I use the tech in this 36k prius five its causing me to drive like a 90 yr old with bad eyes and even poorer judgement! It's a wonder why some people hate prius drivers..! The 12v battery dies every few days so I must keep it plugged in. I even wrap my fob in foil at home an
I would like to register a major complaint about the design of the headrest. It pushes my head forward at such an angle that it is impossible to sit comfortably in the seat. In order to hold my head up straight I must tilt the seat back beyond what is safe or desirable for driving and even that is not completely satisfactory for the angle of my head. Please require car manufacturers to provide adjustable or alternative headrests which can accommodate different drivers more safely. If ntsb is requiring the current design, they've made a big mistake. *tr
Toyota has issued a recall with no remedy. They say there is a possibility the car could stall at high speeds and increase the likelihood of a crash. I have small children and plan to travel over the holidays. I am afraid to drive this car. We have followed the previous recall notices.

2013 Toyota prius. Consumer would like reimbursement for repairs and parts for the defected oil filter housing part. *ta the consumer stated the vehicle was equipped with a cheap, plastic oil filter housing. Over time, the heat generated by the engine caused the oil filter housing to fail to maintain its required shape. MY 2013 Prius' hybrid system failed as I was entering a very busy state highway (where several fatalities have been recorded) exit when a tractor trailer truck unexpectedly bore down on me. My engine reduced to half speed and there was no breakdown lane to pull over to. The dashboard lights lit up and indicated a hybrid system failure, but I could not get to safety for another 2-3 miles. This is an NHTSA recall (20V-369) that was eligible for repair under an expanded warranty, but ONLY AFTER the vehicle has experienced the shutdown. The IPM (Intelligent Power Module/hybrid) system breakdown was confirmed by Toyota dealership's diagnostics, but the warranty period was not told to me and the charges amounted to almost $3000. My research and doggedness discovered that the costs would be

2013 prius c two, bought brand new with 15 miles on it 5 weeks ago. A few times when driving, I noticed the brakes seemed weak, like they weren't stopping the car very well even at low speeds. My driving is mostly in town on residential streets, so I'm rarely going over 35 MPH. Even so, I'd have to really mash the pedal all the way to the floor to get the car to come to a complete stop, otherwise it would keep moving forward. Several times I ended up about 5-10 feet past the line, sticking the front bumper into cross traffic. Luckily no one hit me. I chalked it up to the quirks of a different car than the one I was used to, and figured if it kept happening I'd take it to the dealership. On monday, my wife was stopped at a red light. The light turned green and the car in front of her sta

I bought this car in november since the car is new . I wanted to install mud guards so I had to remove each wheel. As I was torquing the wheel nuts, one stud came off. I used a torque wrench 65 ftlb. I went to the dealer they told me that I broke the stud that this is not cover by the warranty. I told them that this studs must have a defect from manufacturing. I hope they don't fail while I'm driving. *tr

Sun roof exploded / shattered while driving on the fwy. At 70 MPH. No traffic around, clear day about 70 deg f. After hearing the explosion, I pulled over and found the glass had shattered and it appeared that it was caused by pressure from inside as the shape of the shattered glass was bowed outwardly. No apparent impact from any foreign object.
