I brought the car in for brake safety recall in 2017. On oct 31st, 2018 with 56,320 miles the brakes failed in driveway twice in cold weather. On nov 1 the brakes were working again with warmer weather. I drove to the dealership. Ran tests, found nothing wrong. I was told it was a low 12 volt battery even though I had replaced the battery 24 months prior (now 3rd battery in 3 years). I was charged $388 for a new battery. But I could not leave the dealership. The brakes failed again before I could leave. I had the technician test. Here are notes he wrote: "brakes failed again in service parking lot. Advisor verified concern. Yellow ABS light, yellow brake system warning light and vdc warning lights were on. No brake pedal pressure. Pedal went to the floor and could hear an electronic cli

Whenever you brake and hit a bump or pothole the brakes disengage launching you forward causing a huge danger of hitting other cars, people or other objects
Was driving the car in a neighborhood setting only going 20 mph, ABS light turned on the dashboard, traction control light or some other light regarding traction came on as well, brakes failed. Had to use parking brake to stop the vehicle.
Brake warning lights on dash may turn on at startup sometimes, and pressing brakes cause grinding noise (like anti lock activated). Located in san jose, ca, weather is about 50-90 degrees f. Nissan keeps on saying there's no issue, and it's a $4k fix to replace the whole brake system, and will not look at the issue. Have gone to several dealerships, no help.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 Nissan leaf. While driving 35 MPH and attempting to park, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The brakes failed to respond after the ABS warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake sensors needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,200. The VIN was not available.
While driving normally, yellow brake warning lights came on but I arrived home without incident. Next time I drove, the warning lights were all off, but suddenly the brakes failed almost completely. I pushed the pedal to the floor and heard a grinding/clicking sound, and barely any stopping power. I was only going 25 mph, and was able to stop after 5 seconds of high foot pressure. At the same time, red brake warning light came on. I was able to get the car home very slowly, and strangely I had adequate braking power for the remainder of the short trip (although red and yellow brake warning lights remain on). I am happy to provide the car for inspection. This was extremely dangerous to the nearby pedestrians because I could not have stopped the vehicle had one been crossing in front
I was driving fown the highway and the car in front of me stopped. I was going 45 MPH. I was two car lengths behind him. I hit the brakes and the car wouldn't stop. I then slammed the brakes and the car slowed down, but I ended up rear ending him. It felt like my car was on ice, but the roads were clear. It was 29 degrees outside.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 Nissan leaf. The contact stated that while driving at 5 MPH and attempting to park, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard causing the contact to crash into a brick wall. The brakes failed to respond. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was to be diagnosed and repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000. ..updated 01/13/16 *bf updated 05/03/18*jb
The morning of november 9th, 2018 I attempted to start the vehicle after having been parked overnight in our garage. When I pressed the brake pedal, I did not feel any resistance. After pressing the on button, I felt the pedal resist and vibrate. I heard a grinding sound from behind the pedal and warning lights illuminated for brakes and ESC. The vehicle would not start so I had it flatbed towed to the Nissan dealership. They determined the electronic brake controller had failed and required replacement. The dealership and Nissan jointly covered the cost of the repair, to their credit. I am concerned this component could fail while driving and result in a loss of braking force, creating an unsafe situation.
Much like other complaints here, just after starting the car and putting it into reverse from a parking spot, pressing the brake pedal did not slow the car down, even with the pedal fully depressed. Only after letting the brake up and pressing it again did it work. Fortunately I didn't hit anyone or anything and was able to get the brakes to work in time. The next time I went to start the car, the dashboard display kept telling me to press the brakes when pressing the start button no matter how much I was pressing the brakes. I could not get the car to start. Only after plugging the car in and returning to it an hour later did the car start.
Purchased a brand new 2015 Nissan leaf on september 12th, 2015 3 weeks later on oct 5th, 2015 brakes failed on this brand new car while driving in traffic on the freeway. As a result I ended up hitting a truck in the rear end at 55 MPH. Inuries sustained in the accident and 2015 Nissan leaf was totaled. I called this into Nissan and was told there was a service notice for this car for brake failure. This was never disclosed to me and the dealer had not performed this service work on the car prior to selling it to us. Please report and have all brake issues with the 2015 Nissan leaf investigated.
Brake pedal goes to the floor with no braking power. Grinding sounds, then finally brakes engage, but feels like the emergency brake. Super dangeraous, happened on the freeway. Checked 12v battery, based on what I read on line, battery had and still has strong charge. Next day, brakes work just fine. No problems. Happened again on highway a few days later, again, no braking power until just at the end, cant drive the car at any speed now, battery still fine. No cold weather here (unlike the many other 2015 leaf owners reporting the same issue. All dash warning lamps come on. Again, car drives fine the next day. Nissan denies any recall being needed, despite the hundreds of reports of similar dangerous problems.
It was early morning of nov 13 friday around 5:30 am, I was about to leave the house to work. I backed up the car about 10-15 ft away from original parking position and stopped because I forgot something in the house. At that time my foot was still on break pedal however, as soon as I changed to drive mode, the car move forward quickly even though my foot was on the break pedal. I pressed harder on the pedal to stopped the car unfortunately, the car immediately hit the filing cabinet, shoe rack and penetrated the house wall. It was a terrifying experience for me. My husband arrived home couple of hours later. He assessed the car and came into conclusion that the break pedal is totally reaching the floor. We immediately notified our insurance company on the same day.
Upon backing out of my garage, I found that the brakes did not work. I was only able to stop the car by applying the parking brake. Note that I had the car serviced on 11/11/2015, and one of the service items was "p5327 - leaf electric brke ntb15-089... ...7594 reprogram electrically-driven intelligent brake control unit... ...perform campaign p5327, ECM part #46007-3nf9b"

I was driving down the road and applied pressure to the brakes. The brakes did not respond and the dash lights lit up indicating several failures. It took 15-20 feet before I was able to completely stop. If this had happened on a busy street or freeway, the results would have been catastrophic. The vehicle is currently located a Nissan dealership and is available for inspection.
Electronic brake assist failed while driving in traffic, october 9th, 2020. Braking distance was extended and the brake pedal depressed much farther than normal, causing driver to stop car with emergency brake. Emergency lights illuminated on the dash. Errors codes indicate faults with the electronic driven intelligent brake control unit, the subject of safety campaign 16v119000. Subsequent Nissan recall, which applied 3nf9b firmware to the edib, had been applied 5/13/16. Failures re-occurred in cold weather in november 8th, 2020. Problem is sporadic and dealer cannot reproduce. However, a video of the failure was recorded and has been shown to them. Replacement part carries yet a new firmware, 4np3e. This firmware should be made available under the safety campaign if it more fully address

I was driving with one passenger going at very low speed. I began to turn into parking area and suddenly the car accelerated at an alarming speed. I applied total pressure on the brake to no avail, it did not override the acceleration. I steered into the back of another parked vehicle. The impact pushed the large heavy vehicle down into a ditch and deployed the airbags for both myself and passenger. 911 was called, Police arrived, tow trucks. My vehicle was totalled, and insurance now has the claim. If this has occurred on a highway or busy city street, many lives would have been at risk.

The leaf often shows that my passenger air bag is disabled, even though my son who is over 100 pounds is sitting in the seat with the seat belt on. This happens about 50% of the time at all speeds when he is in the passenger seat. I think there is something wrong with the sensors in the passenger seat. I would hate to get in a crash and not have the airbags deploy! *tr

The car stopped responding to accelerator pedal and eventually stopped in the middle of the road just before a hill. Haven't noticed any error messages and instrument panels seemed normal. Switched off power and then turned on again, the car worked normally. I am going to bring the car to a service center but it seems hard to find an appointment.

The occupant classification system (ocs) is designed to classify the size and weight of the front seat passenger and, under certain conditions, automatically turn off the passenger air bag. The ocs system is designed to only deploy the front passenger airbag when the front passenger seat is occupied by an adult. In the affected vehicles, the ocs software may incorrectly classify the passenger seat as empty when it is occupied by an adult. If the ocs does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger airbag would be deactivated. I have had this happen 2 times in my car with my wife which is a short light woman, I went to Nissan in greensboro, nc and they got the parts in, tore apart car but Nissan sent them incomplete parts and now it is on back order....has been like
