12/27/2021 ODI #11445069.0

I was driving through a construction area on interstate 95 and hit uneven pavement and the front of the vehicle starting shaking violently. It took everything I had to hold the steering wheel the shaking was so violent it rendered the brakes almost useless. Fortunately no one was next to me in the next lane because I could not control the vehicle and I had to ride the shaking out in both lanes until my speed came down do approximately 40 mph, Everything smoothed out and the vehicle began to operate normally. I knew I experienced the Ford Death Wobble because It has happened to many of my friends vehicles already and has been a topic of discussion amongst many of us which is why I brought it to the dealership immediately. If you google "Ford death Wobble" thousands of people are experi

Popularly referred to as "death wobble". At speeds above 50 MPH, the truck instantly goes from full control to an uncontrolled state of severe oscillation that can only be stopped by stopping or slowing the vehicle to 10 MPH or less. There is no prior warning that this is about to occur and it does not occur all the time - extremely random - usually occurs when the truck hits a rough patch of road or a bridge/pavement expansion joint. The condition is manifested by violent shaking of the front end accompanied by the steering wheel being jerked out of the driver's hands, resulting in complete loss of steering control. This causes an extremely hazardous condition for other vehicles as well as the problem truck. Ford has issued a tsb for this problem 18-2258, consisting of a replacemen

My vehicle started to shake uncontrollably at 50mph when driving. Research online indicated what people call a "death wobble". I contacted my local Ford dealership multiple times to see if my repair would be covered by Ford. On November 8th, 2022 I turned my truck in and on the 11th I was told what repairs needed to be done. On November 21st, I picked up my truck and parked it at my house. I drove less than 40 miles locally with speeds never exceeding 50mph. On December 6 I began a work trip to Nashville from Killeen Texas. 20 miles into my trip my truck did the "death wobble" with me going 70mph. Two hours later it happened again. I drove all the way to Nashville going 50mph and experienced the death wobble about 8-9 times. Now my engine has a ticking noise that I am certain came from the

After going over a bump in the road at 70 mph, vehicle began to shake violently. Unable to control the vehicle. Had to come to a complete stop. Checked tires, all tires were good and had good air pressure. Took the vehicle to repair shop. Repair shop referred to the 'Death Wobble' . They checked for any loose parts in the front suspension/steering and did not find any. They replaced the steering damper indicating sometimes this will fix the issue. Two months later I hit another bump at 70 mph, vehicle started shaking violently again for several seconds. Had to slow to under 50 mph for the shaking to stop.

While driving at 75 mph my truck started to vibrate violently causing me to lose control of the steering. I backed it down to 40 mph to get it to stop. I continue to drive 200 more miles and it happened again while driving 65 mph. My research shows that this is happened to many Ford F350 and F250 trucks. I just wanted to make sure that I document that this is happened to me.

A main computer communication cable failed (rubbed through) due to rubbing due from the use of the parking brake. I noticed all my gauges were not working. I happened to be very close to the Ford dealer, so I pulled in the lot and turned the truck off to see if the issue would reset. Upon trying to start the truck, everything was dead. I got the service manager and left the truck. When he called me to tell me what he found, I immediately recall reading about this same issue several times on the Ford Truck Enthusiast web site, and the fix was simply moving the communication cable so it doesn’t rub.
