The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine compartment, and the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the connecting rod bearings. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Car has acceleration issues when making left turns, merging onto freeway, or passing cars on freeway. Transmission and blind spot light went on and we took car to Honda dealer. They could not find anything wrong, no codes were stored and they were not able to duplicate the issue. Scanned vehicle and unable to trace root cause. Updated TCM software which helped for about a month but acceleration issues are now back again. This is a serious safety issue as the car hesitates to accelerate. We have kept up with all car maintenance.
There’s currently a recall on the 2018 2019 Honda odysseys. The recall is for the same as exact issue that I had with my 2018 Honda Odyssey there’s a problem with the connecting rod bearings recall campaign number 23V751000. I’m being told from Honda that my van does not fall into the production date range for the recall. I’m being told that any repairs I’m going to have to cover myself even though it’s the same issue that the other vehicles are having. I was on the interstate traveling about 70 miles an hour. My check engine light came on blinking I lost total power I had to get out of the left lane and make it all the way to the shoulder between traffic. I had my car towed to the Honda dealership that I’ve taken it to for every single service since I purchased the vehicle. I want to kno
The engine failed without prior indication. The dealer says the engine is destroyed and needs to be replaced. Once the engine stopped working the vehicle would not go into neutral and was immovable preventing the vehicle from being moved to a safe location. The dash had a message that said the engine must be running to shift to neutral but the engine was blown. The owners manual has no solution to put the vehicle in neutral with an inoperable engine.
Around October 29th my vehicle developed a faint to loud noise within 24 hours. There was no engine light, no leaking of fluids and no other warning. As we drove the vehicle to a repair shop I could tell there was some hesitation or lack of normal power. The shop we took my vehicle too was not able to do any repair or diagnosis so it was towed to Honda of Olathe, then New Concept Auto and finally Sallas Auto. On November 10th, I was told my engine needed to be replaced due to bearing issue. The mechanic ran diagnostic tests and did not find any past cleared codes or active codes that should have been triggered by an engine issue. My vehicle was serviced regularly. Most recent was an oil change end July/Early August, no issues were found, no metal flakes. In that short period of time my e
Manufacturing Engine damage/failure. Synthetic oil was used at all oil changes every 5K miles. However, after only 3K miles after last oil change the oil level was low and dirty. Engine light started flashing and failed to accelerate. Engine also started making a knocking noise.
Engine damage from connecting rod bearing wear. The dealer inspected the vehicle. The dealer confirmed that the damage was caused by a connecting rod bearing. The engine had to be replaced. I was told by the dealer that the VIN did not fall within the recall range. Therefore, I had to pay for the engine replacement myself. The engine damage was the same as the NHTSA ID Number: 23V751000 recall.

The rear tailgate stopped working. Upon investigation, there is structural issue with the body. There are holes near rear tailgate which allows to water to pass through. The water has damaged the rear tailgate motor and now the door is inoperable. This has been a common issue with Odyssey minivans 2018 and newer model. We have contacted honda regarding the issue and they refuse to accept any liability regarding the body defects.
Panel behind the gas pedal and brake pedal is missing. This exposes a large area of electrical wires. A driver will easily be able to get his feet there while stretching his legs and intentionally mess up the wiring. This is an electrical fire hazard and also a safety hazard. Pictures uploaded. Earlier models (2006 which I own) has a majority if this area covered by panel. I contacted the dealer and they said it is normal for 2018 models of odyssey.
Our 2018 Honda Odyssey minivan had water leaks intruding and collecting into the power tailgate control module on the driver-side rear compartment causing the tailgate to become nonfunctional and not lock properly or open/close appropriately leading to a major safety issue where the tailgate may open or even not close during movement of the vehicle leading to significant risk to passengers with respect to accident or bodily injury. This power tailgate issue appears to be caused by defective rear body seam seals from the manufacturer that allows water to leak into the rear driver's side panels and intrude into the module leading to damage and destruction of the module circuit board. I have needed to purchase a replacement for the module (~$200) and I have provided photos to show the water

The Honda monocular camera is apparently causing malfunctions and or warning lights. This is impacting many Odyssey owners according to my research. This should be addressed by Honda and reimbursement or repair covered as a recall.
Just purchased this van, brand new, less than 2 months ago. When driving my car, and in the midst of a turn into oncoming traffic, my car shut down. The engine shut down, the lights went off, I couldn't move the wheel. It just went dead. I took it to the dealer for this issue and the series of issues I had experienced in the days leading up to this event, which included not being able to open the trunk, a message flashing that the battery was dead and to turn off all the lights in the vehicle (no lights were on), anti-theft message came up twice, on several occasions the front safety sensors said they were not operable (which are controlled by a box by front rear view mirror, and sensor was not blocked), calls have been dropped randomly, side doors stick, etc. The dealer told me that

Crakling sound on dash from side to side, noisy and stronger by the weeks. Took ca to the dealer with 12k miles; three attempts were made. Honda service replaced the audio system, next attempts they said it was my iphone cable. Now, with 14k miles, can't use radio, bluetooth, carplay and the ent system freezes. Any call I make or receive, the cracklin starts and call freezes until gets disconnected. Does not matter if the car is parked or on the road. Have more than 10 videos showing the problem. Will go now to the 4th attempt to see if it can be fixed.
The Tailgate Control Module failed due to water getting in to it from normal rain. There seems to be a leak in the seam and caused the failure. I took it to the shop and confirmed the failure, purchased a new control module and replaced the faulty one. I opened up the faulty one and it had water damage inside.
1. Failure of the rear entertainment system: the rear camera and entertainment system will lost "network connectivity" and stop functioning 2. Brake mitigation system: spontaneously turns on 3. Failure of the infotainment system: the infotainment system will turn off and go into a series of failures, ultimately turning off completely and not functioning. The infotainment system will also experience power errors resulting in errors with the anti theft system. In addition, the radio/speakers periodically stop working.

The transmission failed at 108k miles. Honda is charging 10000USD for repair. They want to replace the 9 speed transmission. This transmission is notorious for failure and Honda hasn’t issued a recall yet.
The vehicle has a very significant delay in accelerating from a stop or slow roll. Often the delay is up to 2 or 3 seconds and has caused several near misses when attempting to cross traffic. It's inconvenient and more important, a safety problem. Upon research I have discovered it is a wide spread issue among Odysseys in this generation. It seems to be an issue with cars equipped with either the 9 speed or the 10 speed transmission.

The multipurpose camera failed showing lot of error codes. This affects the braking system putting my family and kids in risk. Honda is asking 2000$ to fix the camera.
