12/30/2020 7,000 mi ODI #11385571.0

The vehicle experienced a ~12" crack vertical crack in the windshield. The vehicle was parked and stationary when the windshield cracked. No known pebble, rock, or debris was known to have stuck the windshield. There was a relatively loud "pop" sound and the crack appeared in the windshield. The crack extends from about halfway up the windshield down to the bottom of the black section of glass that supports the windshield wipers (visible but less obvious in the photo than the crack through the transparent section of the glass). The vehicle was ~4 months old (purchased new) at the time the windshield cracked. Outdoor temperatures ranged from ~15 to 35 degrees fahrenheit at the time the windshield cracked.

Windshield cracked in a relatively new (1-year-old) vehicle. I discovered the crack in the morning when the vehicle was stationary. I believe it wasn't there yesterday when I last parked the car.

After a 650 mile drive with no impacts to windshield or perceptible cracks, parked the car overnight. In the morning, a crack had developed from the lower driver side of the windshield moving up and to the passenger side. With no further driving, the crack continued to grow toward the passenger side, splitting into two cracks. The spontaneous crack is in the eyeline. The vehicle was stationary when the crack formed and has been stationary as the crack has grown. See pictures. One photo is when first developed, (december 14, 2020) second in on december 30, 2020 after no driving and the car remaining stationary from the 14th)..

The car was parked on 12/28.2019 in perfect condition as new. Upon entering the vehicle at 11:50am on 12/29/2019 it was obvious that the windshield had cracked overnight. The crack is 24 inches in length and runs from the bottom drivers side under the left side of the windshield wiper heading in an upward direction then turns toward the right side of the vehicle at an elevation of one third the height of the windshield. The vehicle was parked and stationary when this occurred. I have been exclusively the sole driver of this vehicle for all of its 2260 miles. The windshield has never been struck by an object.the vehicle was purchased new by me on 10/31/2019.

The windshield is ridiculously susceptible to cracks. I’m on my third windshield in 4 years. I had the windshield last replaced in October and had a new crack within a month. I didn’t even notice anything hitting the windshield with this last crack.

12/26/2020 26,677 mi ODI #11385080.0

Today (26 december 2020) as I parked my 2020 Subaru outback in a business parking lot, for the third time in just four months I noticed my windshield starting to crack for no apparent reason. There were no vehicles, road debris , or winds to cause this. This is the third cracked windshield on my new Subaru in four months for no apparent reason. Subaru has a problem! I have driven over 1.5 million miles in forty-plus plus years, and never in all the different manufacturers and models of vehicles have I ever had issues like this!

12/26/2020 8,112 mi ODI #11384978.0

I went out this morning 12/26/2020 and the car won't start again. Because of the previous problem on 12/22/20 which I have reported. I made sure everything was closed and locked securely and all lights were off. Prior to the 12/22/20 incident, I had 2 previous incidents since purchasing the car. One previous incident involved a battery drain (I do not remember the date) because the cabin light was left on overnight. The battery drainage prevention function should have kept that from happening but did not. Also, on approx. 9/1/20, I received an email from Subaru about a software update. I tried to update the software but the process wouldn't complete for some reason. Within a few hours I received another email saying to disregard the previous one and that there was an issue with the update.

On approx. 8/22/20 I received an email or text from Subaru or starlink, I don't remember, about a software update. I tried to update the software but the process wouldn't complete for some reason. Within a few hours I received another email saying to disregard the previous one and that there was an issue with the update. The issue left me without any display. I took the vehicle in and had to have the whole radio replaced. The vehicle was parked in my driveway.

Windshield spontaneously cracked for no apparent reason. No impact, just cracked as I was driving out of my neighborhood (about 10mph).

12/28/2023 ODI #11562294.0

I noticed when the weather is wet, closing the front windows is slow. This kept advancing and now it won't close at all. Today, 12/28/2023 it wouldn't even come up more than half an inch then goes back down. Done some online research, and lots of people are reporting this with several Subaru models and dealers only say it needs lubrication.

Windshield defective issues. The windshield in my subaru outback cracked twice in a 6-month period. Both incidents occurred while driving between 40-55 mph in San Diego. The first time (July 2022) the windshield cracked for no apparent reason. I took the car to the Subaru dealership for a windshield replacement. The second time (12/25/22) it appears that a small pebble hit the windshield on the bottom side of the windshield. I am really not even sure a pebble hit the windshield, I just heard the windshield crack. Subaru has been notified of this second incident and I am waiting for an appointment to replace the cracked windshield. This is appears to be a defect on the windshield. I've never had this issue with any other car. Its troubling to know that the windshield on my car can

The TomTom navigation system quits unexpectedly while driving and if the Adaptive Cruise Control is on it will stop working and the car will begin to slow down. The computer screen will go black and then a message will come on saying the Navigation System is starting. The system will then reboot. This has been reported to Subaru and Subaru tried to replicate the problem at the dealership, but they were unsuccessful. Subaru Corporate has acknowledged the problem, but offers no solution. Safety was impacted because you suddenly start to slow down and any car following you may not know you are slowing down because the brake lights do not come on.

1.) Headlights. They are extremely bright to oncoming traffic and oncoming traffic is always flashing or beaming you with their high beams as they think your brights are on when they are not. This is dangerous. Also LED lights do not put off enough heat and the headlamp body itself freezes over in cold rain or snowy conditions severely reducing your ability to see during low light situations. Wipers. The windshield wipers do not last. They should be silicone and they are rubber which is terrible for longevity.

The EyeSight system will randomly not load at times and need to be reset for Rear Automatic Braking and other EyeSight safety features to become available. This usually only occurs within 30 seconds of engine startup but always occurs when plugging in a phone with Android Auto (a phone with Apple Car Play has never been used for verification). Warning message is displayed on driver's side message center stating EyeSight, RAB, and other safety features are not available. Reproduction of problem is difficult as it seems random.
