2005 Chevrolet avalanche at approx. 40,000 miles the speedometer has gone crazy never giving the correct speed. Several others with this problem and recall has been call for 2002 -2004 models that use the same cluster and step motor that controls the speedometer. Contacted the dealer to fix problem but they wanted 600+ to fix the problem. *tr

The fan motor control relay and connector short circuited and burned up. The location of this relay is behind and slightly below the glove box. General motors issued a service bulletin special coverage adjustment bulletin no 11046 for this problem, however it was only valid in canada, not the united states.

I have a 2005 Chevy avalanche that I am the original owner and have recently had a problem with the speedometer not working correctly. Some days it works fine and other days it doesn't work or the speed is all over the place. I have heard this has been an issue on previous year models and gm has not done a recall. No one can tell me exactly what the problem is and I don't want to waste money trying to figure it out. This is obviously a problem gm has known about and will not address. This is also a safety issue that gm needs to rectify asap! Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your assistance in this matter, regards, mr. Anthony trapino *tr

After starting the truck and turning on the ac the driver side was pushing hot air while the passenger side was cool. This problem has occurred several times over the past few months the only way to clear the error was to restart the truck. I have not brought the issue to the dealer as it happens so in frequently. *tr

I own a 2005 Chevrolet avalanche and the speedometer stopped working. The truck has 51k miles and not been modified. This is a danger to my family and the cost of repair is expensive. This is a know issue and should be a recall. *tr

Speedometer acts erratically, will often stay at zero, sometimes will start at 30 and progress @ 30 MPH above the right speed. After contacting dealership was told I would have to buy a new speedometer. This is a well documented problem and should be considered a recall. *tr

Gm has had an ongoing problem with intermediate steering shafts that loosen and rattle in their avalanche models. This may also apply to the 1500 series pickups as well but I'm not sure since I haven't kept in tune to those owners as I have avalanche owners. The dealer remedies the situation, based upon gm's service bulletins, by shooting the shaft full of grease to take out any play in the steering. However, this lasts anywhere from 5k - 15k miles. I have had two avalanche's and both have had the same problem. I also know numerous other avalanche owners who have the same issue. I don't know of any failures but I'm also not happy with gm's lack of a fix for this problem and I'm afraid an accident is more sooner to happen than a satisfactory fix from the manufacturer.

Rattling in steering column...have had greased 3 times and it stops for about 6 months. 2 friends drive 3/4 ton Chevrolet pickups and have the same problem. *tr

The transmission began to shift hard. The answer from the dealer was need new transmission for $4500. Stated that the fluid sensor housing was cracked and the entire transmission needed replacement. Seemed a bit ridiculous for a two year old vehicle that towed nothing. *js

Purchased may 31, 2005. 39 mileage. $43,000.00. 8 months later the transmission started jerking. We took it to the dealer 6+ times and they said they couldn't find anything. Now at 75,000 miles it won't drive in d it has to be in 3, 2, 1 to drive. I have read 100's of complaint about transmissions in 2000-2010 models. Gm needs to take care of their customer transmission problem or design a better transmission. *tr

I was driving to work 12/17/16, 5:40am. I was traveling to work and I lost all pressure in my pedal. Which LED me to nearly hit a telephone pole. The master cylinder and a flex brake line going from the master cylinder to the brake booster(module) were replaced. But this did not fix the problem. I have bench bled the master cylinder, and all brake lines around the truck. I still have no brakes unless you push them to the floor. I have done some research, and found were other people with the same model and year truck have had the same problem. After reading all those blogs and post, I discovered that the model and year of avalanche that I have was recalled for the ABS system for failure. *tr

Catastrophic brake failure because of four corroded brake lines. All four lines corroded in the bracket holding the lines to the driver side frame rail. I was driving the vehicle and when I attempted to apply the brakes there was initial resistance and then the brake pedal went straight to the floor. I attempted to apply the brakes again but the vehicle would not stop. I had to apply the parking brake to stop.
