Service column lock (scl) code on dic occurs with high frequency on 2005 Chevrolet corvette mn06 when attempting to crank engine - car will not crank, other electrical components function. Car flatbed-towed on at least 4 occasions. Car was serviced numerous times, by 3 different Chevrolet dealers, for separate scl incidents occurring 2006-2010; most recent scl incidents occurred 6/2010 & 11/2010; car towed to Chevrolet dealer in 6/2010 to a Chevy dealer that claims to be corvette service center of south. Dealer replaced scl part but only after the car experienced scl failure on their lot when I attempted to take delivery after they certified the car was fine. Car experienced scl on their lot and was pushed into service bay. Scl post-repair failure occurred 11/2010 following dealer's rep

NHTSA campaing number 10v172000. My car is presenting this problem, it is completely unsafe to drive and I am afraid to have an accident to weight that there is evidence of the gm dealers problem do not want to attend under its responsibility
I received a message on the information screen on the dash, it says service active handling system. Is there a recall for this. What may happen, what do you recommend I do, I belong to a corvette forum here is the web address for the forum http://nhthqnwws111.odi.NHTSA.DOT.go, https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c6-tech-performance-101/ https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c6-tech-performance/2336065-service-active-handling-consumer-action.html,, I was just driving down the road at 45 MPH
My question is; I own a 2005 corvette c6 and have been having problems with my steering column which is the tilt and telescoping. Such as not being able to start it. I am lucky that my brakes haven't locked up on me yet. During my research I found that you had began a safety recall on april 30, 2010, NHTSA 10v172000, regarding the tilt and telescoping steering wheel on my year and model of vehicle. I contacted my Chevrolet dealership yesterday about this and scheduling to have them put in the bypass to column lock. I mentioned the safety recall and he told me that there was only one recall on my vehicle, lights. Why isn't my car approved for the safety recall of 2010, when she meets all of the criteria?
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the service active handling system warning light illuminated as the vehicle jerked to the left. The contact called the dealer regarding the service active handling light. The dealer suggested he bring the vehicle in for a diagnostic test. Prior to the diagnostic test, the contact referenced NHTSA campaign I.d. Number: 10v172000 (steering:column). The dealer advised him that the recall repair had already been performed on the vehicle. The contact did not have a diagnostic test or repairs performed to the vehicle. The failure mileage was 42,000.

Service active handling system warning comes on brakes randomly lock. *tr
(entered by smch from e-mail, trimmed to fit available content length) I purchased my 2005 corvette new in los angeles five years ago. Have been having the "service active handling" problem now for the last year and a half. At speeds of 30mph or less...thus far ssuddenly brakes and pulls hard to the left while pulsing on and off the brakes. This has been very scary, needless to say, and I have narrowly avoided being forced into oncoming traffic or being rear-ended by the sudden braking. I took my car to a dealership for the fifth time over this concern and have heard the same story.; that there is no code or recall for this problem. (update from e-mail) I have had the repair completed. I was told it was a fault in the steering column (telescoping) and would be fixed with a couple
Service active handling error appears on my dic at random times although nothing seems to be wrong. I can shut the engine down and turn it back on and the error does not appear. There are other times that it will reappear but the vehicle drives ok. I will turn active handling off when the error appears. It seems to appear only when I have key fob no 2 in my pocket. Because I've heard horror stories about active handling "taking over the vehicle" I'm very cautious about this function in the vehicle. I mentioned this to a dealer and they told me to ignore it since they couldn't get it to display. *tr
During freeway travel the vehicles "service active handling" message appeared and the vehicle brakes seized and pulled to the left causing me to almost hit a concrete barrier. The dealership claims that the recall was performed but the car still has this very dangerous condition. *tr

Airbag lights will flash at random or stay lit. This indicated that the system will not functiion. Gm is aware of the issue, a frail ground signal, and will not fix the issue. *tr
I have complained to gm and NHTSA many times about this with no help from either. The air bag system on the c6 (2005 - 2012) corvette is defective. The check air bag light goes off and on at random. We know what is causing it but gm will not fix it. I just received the letter below from gm explaining the problem and what is causing it. They admit they know there is a problem but have no plans on correcting it. Thousands of corvette forum members complain about this. We have come up with our own temporary fix until gm redesigns the defective (bad design) connector under the seat. We zip tie it together. Many members drive with the light on all the time. Gm will not tell us if the bag will deploy when the light is on. I'm sure it wont. Are we going to wait for someone to be kille
My check air bag dash board light continues to go off and on. It was taken to the dealer several times and I was told unless it was on while I was there the problem could not be diagnosed. Finally in 2008 I was able to drive to the dealer with the check air bag light on. The code said the drivers pre-tensioner needed to be replaced. That was done a few days later and the light stayed off for several months. When it returned I was told if they couldn't see the light no code was set. I spend a lot of time on the corvette forum. (over 24,000 post) this is a very common problem with the 2005 to current corvette. The owners have diagnosed the problem as defective connectors under the seats. The automatic seats moving causes the connectors to loosen and the light will come on. I came
The airbag light keeps illuminating for no reason. From what I read, the airbag system will not operate when the red indicator light on the dashboard lite

There is a battery draining issue which the dealership and thousands of c-6 corvette owners are experiencing, particularly the 2005 year. I have owned this car for one month and have had to have it jumped numerous times.. Carfax has documentation on file.
This car will drain the battery after three days of sitting and sometimes after one day of sitting. This a a manual shift car and thousand of fellow c-6 corvette owners are experiencing this problem and the dealer does not know how to solve the issue. Every thing has been check in my car and is listed as working correctly from the dealership. My car only has 39,000 mile and is factory original. Carfax has documentation of all repairs and issues. As stated this is a 6 speed manual shift car. The automatic cars are not experiencing this problem. I had to have this car jump started 6 times within 30 days. Help please!!!!

Severe swerve to the left followed by service active handling warning light illuminated. Brakes lock up during swerve. Shutting down active handling does not help as the same error can occur very quickly again. This happens repeatedly, and more so at colder temperatures. *tr
This vehicle (corvette) was parked , gear in reverse, with the emergency brake fully engaged , vehicle not running .while reaching in to press acess. Button inadvertently pressed the start button which put the car into a strong violent moving reverse action, the corvette hit my truck which was parked two-three feet behind corvette and drove my vehicle a good ten feet before the corvette stalled, the truck was not running ,truck was parked in gear with the emergency brake applied --the skid marks from my truck being pushed are still in my driveway and road. *tr

Both rear axles have broke. One was found by a dealership's repair shop when they were looking at something else. The service tech said that the left rear axle was cracked all the way through and that it was a factory defect. The other rear axle broke several months later (about 2 months ago) as I was accelerating into rush hour traffic. Now I have a problem in the front. *tr
