Car overheated going down the interstate (about 65 MPH). Blew a head gasket, fixed that. Then overheated a week later while in town driving (about 45 MPH) blew a head gasket again. *tr
I purchased my 2005 Chevy equinox on aug. 22, 2005 and instantly fell in love. Soon after it began to smell as if my vehicle was going to over heat. I took the vehicle to the dealer to have it check out and nothing was found. Although they did add more antifreeze. Things were going fine until it got cold outside. When starting my brand new 2005 Chevy equinox a popping noise was heard from the rear. I took it to the dealer and they stated that it was the exhaust. They replaced the exhausted and nothing was heard, at least for two weeks. Needless the say the noise has come back and no one seems to know what's wrong. To top it off a foul smell comes from the vents went the heat is on. I now have to ride with the window slightly open because the smell is now cause headaches for me and my

Bought brand new 2005 Chevy equinox. Bad odor coming from vents. Dex cool is corroding cooling system, and engine. 17,000 miles have had it in 3 times for entire coolant system flush... Still is un bearable. Be aware this is not an isolated case. Consequence- after extended drive (greater than 30 minutes) results in light-headedness, headache, or watery burning eyes. It leaves a film of antifreeze vapor on the windshield, on the inside. Gm does not consider this vehicle inoperable. Go figure. Gm has done little to satisfy our needs, they pay for new hoses and flush- which obviously doesn't work. 900 dollars a pop, for the same result. Parts repaired: 5 hoses (all of them) 3x, dex-cool 3x. Safety is something they strive for at gm, what happened? *nm
Check engine light came on after over heating occurred. Replaced the thermostat, water pump and then found out their was a blown head gasket. Now I need to place a new motor in a 2005 equinox with only 113000 miles! *tr

I bought this equinox in march 2013. Whenever it rains I have standing water in the floor in the front and back floors. There is also moisture on the inside of the windows. I have seen online that this is a common problem. Can anything be done about this? *tr
I purchased this vehicle today. 12/26/16. Drove home. About 10 minutes from my house. The temp gauge goes to the red. I wait about 45 min. I take it back to the dealership. They asked me to leave it overnight. After reading several complaints. Can't you all do something about this? Seems to be the common thing with the type of coolant that is used in these vehicles.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet equinox. The contact stated that while driving 15 MPH, she attempted to apply the brakes, but the brake pedal would not depress. The vehicle coasted to a stop. The contact stated that she then removed some of the anti lock braking fuses herself and the failure had not recurred. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 126,000.
While driving 30 MPH and attempting to stop brakes failed. As a result, vehicle crashed into four other vehicles. Upon impact, est dual air bag did not deploy to it's full capacity. No injuries were reported. *ak........there were no skid marks only after the equinox made contact with other vehicles. The transmission dropped to the street after impact, though the vehicle was not struck from behind. The right wheel on passenger's side came off. Also, the sheriff on the scene acknowledged that there was no brake pedal after there was access to the vehicle.*ak
This seems to be an ongoing problem for this model, you are probably aware of this the brakes don't work or the peddle pushes back and doesn't apply the brakes after pressing hard on the brake pedal the tc and ABS lights come on and the brakes work. I have had the speed wheel sensors replaced on both fron sides and am experiencing the same safety issue no brakes we have spent over 2000.00 to try and fix this and it doesnt seem to work the dealership and the mechanics keep looking for a fix. I think this model should be recalled or at least diagnosed by gm and fixed this is a serious problem. Thanks

I was in an accident on 12/15/2016 where I hit someone from behind. I was driving straight down the highway and didn't notice the people in front of me stopping. When I hit the brakes, it was too late and my chest went flying against the steering wheel. When my equinox hit them, my seat belt did not lock and my chest hit the steering wheel. I had to go to the hospital because of the force of the impact. The force was so hard that the air bag did not come out. I don't know if there is an air bag inside the vehicle. I could not catch my breath and I tested out my seat belt and realized it does not lock when breaking. It is actually lose the whole time I am driving. This is not safe for me or a passage that I have in the car. Tested out the passage side as well and it is the same t
I was driving, hit ice, fish tailed, started to spin, went head first into the median, probably going 30-45 MPH. After that we came to a stop, and were hit by a semi trailer traveling at approximately 45-60 MPH. Neither impact set the air bags off and we believe that it should have. *tr

I am experiencing an extremely strong mildew smell inside my equinox. It is so strong people comment outside the car. The smell also penetrates clothing so that others notice the smell. People will not ride in my car. I have had it to the dealer twice. Both times the odor improves slightly (they depdorize the HVAC) but still others comment. I am concerned about driving my 3 year old b/c of the smell. We have found no visible wetness or mold. The rubber around two windows was loose but the dealer did not find water inside the door. The smell does not seem to be coming from the vents but mores so just from the car. *nm
fuel system 1 complaint shown
I have taken my 2005 equinox in for service 4 times due to poor fuel economy (13 MPG city/15 MPG hwy). I just bought the vehicle in june 05. I have also contacted Chevrolet motors corp with my complaint. Each time there is some additional equipment the dealer puts on the vehicle per advice from gm tech's. However, mileage still way off from that advertised. *jb
