While driving through town the speedometer on my tahoe was saying I was going 90 MPH. After cycling the key on and off several times it was working correctly, then while traveling down the interstate the speedometer quit working completely being stuck on 67 MPH no matter what speed I was going, causing me to get flipped off several times by fellow drivers. Eventually the needle started moving again but said I was going 120 when I was going 60 on my GPS. *tr

My speedometer jumps around and at any given time could read 20mph above my actual speed. When the vehicle is shut off, it sometimes sticks around the 10 to 20 MPH mark. Nothing has been done to correct the defect. *tr
While driving I noticed a smell of something electrical burning. The heater was on so I immediately turned the heater off. A while later when I turned the heat back on the front blower did not work even though the rear blower did. Being and easily replaceable part, my husband took the panel off to remove the blower motor. While trying to get the motor out he found that the wires were melted together and the resistor plug looked burned. We have owned this vehicle since july of 2005 and were not aware of the gm service bulletin regarding the matter until today, december 29, 2013. If it were not for the internet I would not know it now. I am concerned not only because we own two vehicles that my have this problem but that if I had not immediately turned off the unit that my vehicle wou
While traveling at 65mph on interstate, speedometer on my 2005 Chevy tahoe, went arbitrarily up to 120mph and did not return to normal even after engine turned off and restarted- I can see that many others are dealing with the same problem - has there been a recall? *tr
My speedometer has a mind of it's own. It will say I'm doing 20mph when I know I'm going much faster than that. Or it will register 0mph. I took my tahoe into the shop today and they said that nothing came up as being wrong on their computer so nothing was fixed. I contacted Chevy and they said that was true, they can't fix it unless they know what the problem is, I know what it is, the speedometer isn't working! This has happened to me 3 times now, I will continue to take it to the dealership and to call Chevy everytime this occurs, I want results, not a speeding ticket! *tr
Tl*- the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet tahoe, the current and failure mileages are both 78,000. While driving the speedometer displays the incorrect speed regardless of the speed she is traveling. This failure has occurred for the last two months. The contact intends to take vehicle to be serviced for the failure. The VIN was not available at time of complaint.
I own a 2005 Chevrolet tahoe with 52,400 miles and the speedometer just gave out. The speedometer head is not working. When the engine is off and in park the speedometer still indicates 40-90 MPH. When driving the speedometer indicates anywhere between 90-120 MPH. I spoke with the dion lloyd who is the service manager at chapman Chevrolet in payson az and he told me that gm would only fix 2003 and 2004 tahoe's but not the 2005. He said that they had recalled the 2003-204 tahoes and would fix them but not the 2005. In researching this speedometer failure on the internet it looks like this is a widespread problem that gm should be fixing as soon as possible. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the speedometer was working sporadically and displayed inaccurate readings. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that there was a recall for the 2003-2004 models; however, there was no recall for the 2005 model. The vehicle has not been repaired due to the labor and repair costs. The failure and current mileages were 60,000. Updated 01-29-08. *kb
Speedometer needle stuck at 120 mark- so didn't know what my exact speed was. I work in downtown dallas and traffic is pretty bad at most times and not knowing how fast/slow you're going is pretty dangerous. I took it to get fixed at dealership and was charged for this correction because apparently it doesn't fall under any special provision gm is giving and will not recall this issue. Service guy told me that they were only given special provisions on 2003 and 2004 models- and I have a 2005- even though it is the same issue with bad cluster. I tried working with gm to get my $200 refund, but no luck. Service guy recommend to me to keep my receipt in case they do a recall or decide that they will correct this problem- not sure what they are waiting on- more accidents to happen??? *tr
My complaint is a steady vibration in the steering wheel while my 2005 tahoe is idling in traffic, car in gear, basically crawling along in traffic. Although vibration never gets to the point of seeing the steering wheel physically shake, the vibration gets stronger after the vehicle has been running (gets hotter). Vibration creates a sensation similar to a low electrical current running up your arm. After sitting in traffic for 30 to 40 minutes, your fingertips become almost numb. Vehicle has bee back to the dealership twice for this problem and has been reported directly to gm. Gm's response is that the vibration is caused by an electrical fan running after the vehicle gets heated and can not be resolved. *jb
2005 Chevrolet tahoe. Speedometer failure. The speedometer is stuck at 20 MPH. Personal research has LED me to believe that Chevrolet has acknowledged a defect in drive motors within the instrument panel from a parts manufacturer in 10 models produced from 2003 to 2007. This is a definite safety hazard that Chevrolet needs to address via a recall of all effected models. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet tahoe. The contact was driving 70 MPH when the speedometer failed and reset to zero. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 61,890 and the current mileage was 62,100.
Our 2005 tahoe has been having speedometer problems. It seems to not decrease speed when we slow down and when we accelerate the speed just keeps going up on speedometer until it pegs. We have noticed that there are recalls for several earlier year models but not on the 2005 model. If we get in an accident, police could say we are going faster than we are and our insurance company could deny the claim. Also a possibility of a speeding ticket not knowing how fast you are going. Major safety issue!!!!! The speedometer problem happens randomly. We only drive the vehicle approximately 100 miles a week. Speedometer acts up 2 to 3 times a week. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet tahoe. When the vehicle was started, the instrument panel became inoperable intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 136,000.
When I start my car start my car it says service sevilla track and service airbag with in conjunction with this happening my wiper blades don't work and my cruise control does not work as well I've also noticed this happening on my mom's 2000 Chevy tahoe and on my previously owned 2001 GMC yukon I think it is across the board gm electrical problem

Stopped to check air pressure in tires, that's when I saw the front driver side tire with a 6 inch sidewall separation leading from the rim sidewall to the tire tread. The rear driver side has a 3 inch separation starting into the sidewall. *tr

While driving, the gas pedal stuck in the down position causing car to sped up. It then slowed down. Upon inspection by mechanic, it was found that a spring on the gas pedal had become dislodged. One end of the spring is straight (like an opened paper clip) the straight part had stuck into the carpet and then slowly eased out. The mechanic was able to recreate the situation. Because of this, my wife was issued a summons which is still pending. E-mails to general motors have gone unanswered. *tr
