2005 Chevrolet Venture owner complaints

I have a 2005 Chevy venture. There's a bar that attaches my automatic sliding door to the van and makes the door open and close. When the door is closing, it causes a triangular gap between the door, van and bar. The automatic door has a sensor that if someone is in between the door and van, it will stop and open the door up. There is a piece of plastic on the floor where the carpet stops and before the metal side of the van begins. My cousin's daughter was sitting in the seat behind the drivers seat. I buckled in my kids & was standing next to the open driver's side sliding van door talking to my cousin. Her daughter was sitting in the seat behind the drivers seat. On friday, november 12 2004, I entered the middle row of my son-in-law?s new 2005 Chevrolet venture. This vehicle is equipped with an automatic sliding rear side door. After I sat down and closed the door, it seemed to not close completely. I proceeded to open and close the door again. As the door started to open, I tried closing it with the door handle. However, it continued to open fully. By the time I realized that the door was not going to stop, despite my closing pressure on the door handle, my arm had moved backwards and became lodged against the back of my seat. I was unable to release my hand from the door handle, and as the door opened further, it fractured both bones in my arm. *nm

Power sliding doors don't have safety sensors on them, they will shut on whatever is in the way, they have left a bruise on me when I was standing in the way of the door. Younger children or even adults could be hurt or possibly killed in them. *nm

The passenger sliding door opens at random while stopped and in motion exposing passengers to a serious risk of injury or death. *tr

Rented a Chevrolet venture van from avis in flagstaff, az on 10/30/04. The following evening (after dark) as my wife was attempting to exit the vehicle through the power sliding door her hand became caught behind the handle. Her elbow was pinned against the seat back and her wrist and thumb were broken. Her middle finger was also injured. She will be in a cast until at least 1/20/05.*ak

Tl*the contact was transporting a 2005 Chevrolet venture to a dealer. While driving approximately 40 MPH, the contact felt a gust of wind and the hood detached from the vehicle and shattered the windshield and the grill. The vehicle was towed back to his establishment. While the contact was driving 30mph the driver side rear door had suddenly slid open. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership and the contact noticed beforehand that the door would not open electronically. The current and failure mileage is 69250. Bml

I have a 2005 Chevrolet venture Mini van that has developed a fuel leak around the area where the filler tube connects to the fuel tank. Having researched this, it is apparent that this has been a problem for these vehicles as early as 2003. This the third time this has happened on my van. I have attempted to repair it twice, using an epoxy sealer,but the leak redevelops after a few days. I might have to replace the fuel tank and filler tube, if I can find one that I can afford. Gm says that this is not defect and will not issue a recall, but it seems that just the idea of fire hazard would be enough reason for gm to fix the problem. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic, who stated that the fuel tank had failed. The contact was also informed by the dealer that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07e021000 (fuel system, other). The vehicle was not repaired. Dt: the consumer is a canadian resident. When the consumer exited the vehicle, he smelled gasoline. The consumer had the engine turned off and inspected underneath the vehicle and discovered fuel was pouring from the gas connection pipe that goes into the tank. The sealant was plastic as well as the tank. The consumer immediately drove to a local GMC dealer about two to three kilometers away and spoke to a mechanic there regarding the matter. The mechanic inspected the leak and noted this was a common problem and the sealant connector had broken or cracked allowing a fuel leak. There was no guard whatsoever around this connector piece. Temp gauge reading hot, decided 95 s in new york city wasn't an ideal place to stop and traffic was very bad had to drive in breakdown lane to get to nearest exit (approx 1.5 miles) pulled over in a water works lot with my 4 yr olds and wife at 11:30 pm, on way to ohio from rhode island. Called aaa took to garage, several hours later, us to a hotel that wasn't booked. Next garage replaced the temp switch and thermostat. Seemed ok. Continued to ohio. While in ohio temp gauge was reading hot again. Took to dealer and said that the gauge cluster was faulty but did not have the part to replace. Came home , temp gauge has been reading fine if I turn the key on and off to "reset" the gauge back to "zero" still not sure that it is reading correctly at that point. $500.00 to have replaced. Dt: the contact stated he left the road vehicle struck a tree and went into an embankment. Striking the tree kept the vehicle from going over the embankment. The accident occurred while swerving to avoid hitting a dog. The road conditions were dry at the time of the accident. 2005 Chevrolet ventura. Consumer writes in regards to non-deployment of air bags. *smd the consumer stated his father and step-mother were involved in an accident. His father died from his injuries and his step-mother was injured. The consumer stated his father hit a dirt bank head-on and the air bags failed to deploy. As a result, his father hit the steering wheel with his chest causing damage to his lungs, spleen, kidneys and ribs. His step-mother hit the dash and center console with her head, cutting her across the forehead. *jb

One minute it will show full and the next empty. Also havedproblems with the temperature gauge, they corrected that problem. The dash cluster, a/c pumps, and the a/c valve has been replaced and still not corrected the problems. You can be driving down the road the a/c will be cooling and then all of a sudden it will blow out hot air. Brakes were making a squealing noise. The van only has less than 10,000 miles. The dealership has been doing everything that the service representative iwas telling him to do. My wife hit a old style van that had stopped for a dog crossing a the road. The whole front end had to be replaced. Hood, grill, lights, both fender had to be repaired, also the steal tube under the radiator frame had to be cut out and replaced. On 11/5/2010 I hit a deer going 30 MPH, again front end damage. Both times the air bags didn't deploy, and on star didn't respond. I asked two different Chevrolet dealers if the air bag sensor could be tested, answer was no.
