Transmission is going out and can't afford to repair because of ridiculous cost. Seat belt in middle seat is stuck and my children can't sit in that seat because it is stuck. Very unhappy with this Ford buy. I do not feel safe in my family vehicle! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Ford freestyle. While driving 2 MPH, the vehicle lunged forward without warning. In addition, the air conditioner compressor stopped working. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
My husband was backing our 2005 Ford freestyle out of the garage at 8 am when it stopped moving, it would not go in any gear and the engine would not respond. My vehicle has 31,000 miles on it. After having it towed away on a flat bed tow truck and 2 days of diagnostics at a Ford dealer repair shop it was found to need an entirely new transmission. There were 6 failure codes inside my CVT transmission. I contacted Ford corp. Several times and they refused to assist in costs as my 3 years had expired even though at 30,000 miles I had complete transmission failure. Dealer states $5600.00 to replace. I had to replace all 4 tires at 23,000 miles as manufacturer continental tires had worn out, power steering line broke at 30,000 miles. Vehicle is solely used for family transportation. *tr
1. I leased a 05 Ford freestyle and in just 3 days the PCM was broken. In just 100 miles. I was still able to drive home that night. 2. The next day I called the dealership and told them that the engine check light was turning on and the vehicles turns on and off, so maybe they can tow the car from my home. Instead they told me to drive the car to the dealership. I was on my way to the dealership and when I exited the freeway the engine suddenly stopped including the brakes which almost made me fall off the ditch. I was then towed to the dealearship. 3. The dealership had to order a new PCM and when the PCM arrive after 2 days they had to wait for another 2 days since they did not have the software to calibrate the new PCM. The car stayed longer in the dealership than with me
The car jump in low speed and you have to apply the brakes, this was in direct drive or reverse. *tr
I purchased my 2005 Ford freestyle new in january 2006. After two years I started to experience various unintended accelerations. I took the vehicle to a Ford authorized dealership and had it checked out. Their work order indicated they had performed an "eec test code p2106 (throttle position sensor), it also indicated a pin point test qe1, qe9, and they proceeded to replace the throttle body". The problem went away for some time and after a few months the vehicle started to do the same thing again (acceleration). The problem really gets worse with the a/c on and while I try to maneuver into parking spaces or while I'm at a full stop waiting to turn. I have since used less my vehicle. This issue causes a great burden on me and my family since this is our daily driver and we are trying to a
The vehicle began to surge on the hwy. The rpms would surge forward and relax to normal RPM speed. I received a recall letter a few day's ago. My worry is that I have taken it to repair facilities and they found nothing wrong. I am worried that I will have transmission problems because of the recall defect. I have read many posts about CVT transmission failure, it would appear that Ford is doing nothing about the transmission problems. I have owned fords for over thirty years and if the CVT problems are not addressed. I will not buy another, my family will not buy again either. *tr
This happened again today. First noticed summer 2010. Have around 80,000 miles now. Vehicle surges forward. RPM spikes during driving every day no matter what speed driving to 3k-4k. Vehicle lurches forward at slow speeds as well. Have hit the side of my garage when I took my foot off the brake while parking and banged up the bumper pretty bad as well as garage. Vehicle lurched forward during summer when ac was on, almost hit another car, but seems to happen regardless of ac or heat on or off. Ford dealer reported no problem during last check up. Could it be the CVT. This is a serious issue and should be addressed! I don't feel safe and I'm planning to give vehicle to my son next year. Please help! *ln

Throttle body is giving me trouble. When I am at a light or stopped my car accelerates by itself. Is a safety issue as sometimes I am at a pedestrian crosswalk or just at a light. Very concerned about this issue. *kb
Purchased used Ford freestyle december 2010. Ran fine until warm weather and use of air conditioner. With a/c on, the electronic throttle control seems to often greatly overshoot the correct setting when shifting from neutral to drive or reverse, which causes a significant engine RPM increase and a momentary "lunge" if the brake is not applied very firmly. Many vehicles do this to a minor extent but the freestyle is far and away the worst I've ever seen. This does cause unanticipated vehicle movement and could injure a child, passerby etc or cause a vehicle to enter an intersection. My wife is certainly unnerved by it. Effect is in fact sometimes there in cool weather but to a much lesser extent. Reading forums and thinking about this (I'm an engineer and SAE member) it may very w
2005 Ford freestyle-the ac compressor and drier was replaced at about 93,000 miles through the extended warranty. It only cost me 75.00 . No big deal right. The total bill was nearly 1600.00 for the warranty company. Now at 125,000 miles, it has gone out again. No warranty. I've to pay. It is going to cost about 1600.00. Now they can't find a compressor and are back ordered until april of 2011. I have never had a compressor go out on any other car I have owned. Approximately 20 cars in thirty five years of driving. Several with over 250,000 miles. If ac compr. Are on back order, many must be having the same problem. I need help. This is a rip off. *tr

Took 2005 Ford freestyle in for oil change and courtesy check. Upon inspection, it was noticed that the front tires had significant interior wear, and that the right rear brake was rubbing metal to metal. Vehicle only had 24554 miles on it. Took to local Ford dealership, rear brakes and right rotor replaced, and two tires replaced. *jb
Rear brakes replaced at 15,000 miles and then again at 32,000 we had to replace rear brakes and rotors. Factory paid for first replacement at 15,000. *jb
I have a 2005 Ford freestyle at 22,299 miles had to have rear brakes place on my car. Now at 36,450 12-26-2006 have the same rear brakes replace and head for a class action law suit against Ford & Ford dealer ship if they don't do something to correct this problem at there cost. A car does not wear brakes that fast with even a person with normal brake usage. If any person would like to be included in suite email at rlbrasfield@bellsouth.net. I have it. I have heard the same explanations dealership put up. I am engineer out of auto industry and know when car is miss designed, hope no one get killed. *nm

2005 Ford freestyle sel. 76,000 miles. Right rear lower control arm sheered off from frame at mounting point while traveling at ~20 MPH on residential street. The failure point was the sheet metal on the frame where the control arm attaches to, not the actual control arm. *tr
During safety inspection, front engine subframe rusted beyond repair where steering gear is attached. Dick masheter Ford in columbus ohio provided diagnosis when performing other repairs. Replacement frame is unavailable from Ford directly; the only alternatives are getting a used subframe or having a new piece of steel welded in. Vehicle was stationary at the time of inspection.
