2 times since sept. 2018 the cable under hood to accelerator came off while I was driving making it very difficult to stop. The first time I was driving on a state highway at 60 MPH. The most recent I was driving in a subdivision at 10 MPH.the RPM's increased drastically. I feel this is a major safety issue with this issue and Ford needs to fix it. I got this from my elderly mother and I am just thankful it did not happen while she was driving.
Vehicle started to accelerate and kept going faster. Brakes would not stop the vehicle and ended up in a cotton field. This is the third time the acceleration stuck. Tapping the gas peddle worked the first two but not the last time. It knocked a hole in the transmission pan and did something to the brake line. *tr
My car continued to accelerate on its own. *tr
Car accelerates on its own while driving.
I was on the interstate going about 70. I put on the cruise control but it wouldn't engage. I tried several times then gave up. Not 5 minutes later I tried to go slower, about 65, and the car sped up to 70 on its own. I was confused because the cruise control light was not lit, whereas it was lit when it wouldn't work. I pressed the off button many times but it kept trying to accelerate. My friend was trying to make me pull over but I was scared because the engine was racing and it seemed like the brakes were sluggish. I finally stopped on the shoulder & turned off the car. I was freaking scared because I was in the middle of nowhere. When I turned the car back on it immediately began to race, way up over the 3000 rpms. When I put it into drive it lurched forward. We had to get somewhere,
I was driving down a very busy intersection when I notice that the car was accelerating without my foot on the gas pedal. I tried to place my foot on the gas pedal but the car kept going. My husband and I were terrified. I pulled to the side and placed the car in park. Once I did that the rpms raised to about 4. I was so scared that the engine was going to blow I quickly cut the car off. I sat for 5 minutes and tried to restart the car again the rpms shot up to 4 again. Fearing that I could kill myself or someone I just left the car on the side of the road. Please someone help get fords attention before someone dies!!!!!! *tr
1. Sudden unintended acceleration caused by speed control cable detaching from shaft on throttle body due to wear, 2. Occurs every few days, can cause crash 3. Temporary fix is to drill a hole and place a cotter pin thru the speed control cable end to retain the cable end to the shaft. *tr
While driving with my some in the car on an interstate, I tried to set my cruise control. The cruise would register that it was set but it would not hold the speed that was set. After a little while my car accelerated on its own. After trying to apply the brakes, which just sounded like it was grinding the brakes because it didn't want to idle down. Put the car in neutral, the rpms revved over 4000 and the same when I switched to drive. I shut the car off and upon turning the car back on the rpms went over 4000 RPM again. I talked to Ford and they said since there was no recall that there was lot bing they could do for me. I think that something needs to be done. *tr
Car accelerates on its own. I have to put the card in neutral and kick the accelerator to get it to decelerate. I googled it and it sounds like the frayed accelerator problem that has been reported on the internet. *tr

The contact waited several minutes and was able to restart the vehicle, as it proceeded to drive normally. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where they advised him that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired for the transmission. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were approximately 100,000.
On the 1st start of the day (every day), for one-two minutes, when I push down on the brake, the car will move slightly forward. There is a clunking noise from the engine area, and the rpms decrease when the brake pedal is pressed. This occurs in park or neutral. The dealer had an engineer from Ford look at it said he did not know what is causing it, but tried other taurus and saw the same problem. *jb

After it rains, the passenger side floorboard is soaked. There is also rust on the metal parts in the glove box as well as drip stains. I have reported this several times to the dealer since I purchased the car and was told it is just moisture causing the rust (such a lie). They said the smell in the vents was caused by a small build up of water in the air vent reservoir. I have only 17,000 miles on my 2005 taurus (which I purchased in september, 2006 with only 247 miles on it) but the manufacturers warranty just expired this month. I do have a 6 year extended warranty. I called the dealership where I purchased the car and was treated very rudely by the service manager. He said I would have to pay $100.00 to "investigate" the problem and that it is most likely not under warranty. T

The car was started then it was being shifted from park to drive, the driver side air bag went off, before getting it in to drive (made it to neutral).this happened in the driveway.
Dt: the contact stated a garbage truck pulled out in front of the contact's son's vehicle causing a rear end collision at 50 MPH. Upon impact, the air bags did not deploy. All occupants were wearing seat belts. The contact hit the steering wheel and sustained minor injuries. The vehicle was totaled, and a police report was a taken. There has been no inspection to determine why the airbags did not deploy. *ak updated 3/3/2006 - *nm

This vehicle was in motion on a busy street. It slowed down, sputtered, and would not move.it was in gear (d) drive. I was able to coast it off the main street to safety.the engine light and the check transmission alerts were on. Accelerator seemed stuck as well. There are only 77,000 miles. I am told that the transmission is gone. There are more that 170 complaints concerning this car. Ford needs to take responsibility and repair these transmissions. Some owners have been on the highway. I was fortunate,I was only on a busy street. Turning was also difficult. NHTSA please do something before someone is killed.
