(2005 envoy) about 1 month ago I noticed that my headlights were dimming while driving at night . This happened sporadically. When the lights dim, the heat slows down as well. The interior lights occasionally dim when this happens, too. My husband and I thought it might be the battery and started to look at the battery gage, while one of us kept an eye on the lights. This problem has happened about 7 times over the last month. Last week it happened about every 2 minutes while driving down the road. Very scary, as I thought the truck was just going to shut down. I took the truck to my gm dealer and the mechanic said that there is nothing wrong with the truck. The battery, alternator and wires were fine. He stated that with new vehicles and everything that is run in them this is normal. Alt

At various speeds including at rest, instrument panel has failed and then come back up after cutting truck off and restarting it. Now the speedometer and temperature gauges are greatly inaccurate. The speedometer works intermittently and the temperature gauge is always showing hot. Concerning!!! *tr
Speedometer stuck at 60mph while traveling. Didn't matter if stopped, accelerating, decelerating, or turning vehicle off. Turning off the car and restarting it seemed to cause the speedometer to decrease, some, finally getting it to register 20mph. Upon restarting the vehicle in the morning the speedometer still registered 20 MPH and upon acceleration the speedometer fluctuated finally settling at 80mph. We were unable to tell how fast we really are traveling because the speedometer is wacko. Stopping and turning off the vehicle does not help. The speedometer does not reset to zero it is now stuck at 80mph. Our local gm dealer advised that no recall has been issued but an extended warranty to 75,000 miles was offered on the vehicle for this particular problem. Our vehicle is over the mi
The speedometer constantly shows different speeds. Will be driving down expressway at 65mph and next thing you know it shows 90mph so you slow down 65 again and realize that everyone flies by. The best I can figure is it will suddenly show a different speed than one is actually going from 20mph less to 40mph more. Different every time. *tr
Fuel light stays on constantly & fuel gauge always showing empty when vehicle running in motion or stationary
Speedometer stopped working correctly. *tr
My window controls on driver side will not roll down any window; however, you can roll down any window from specific door control. When I put down the passenger side window, while parked, the indoor lights started flashing, there were clicking noises and the passenger window went up all by itself. Totally freaked me out! It only stopped when I opened the driver side door. A couple hours later I was able to drive to another destination. When I took the keyof out, the lights flashed and again the clicking noises. It stopped when I opened the door. Of course, right before christmas and I am unable to contact dealer. I did leave a message and hopefully get fixed soon. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 GMC envoy. The contact stated that the automatic door locks failed to lock and unlock the vehicle. In addition, the rear hatch door failed to unlock when initiated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.
I had trouble with the gauge that shows overheating.I took the car in to put in a thermostat thinking it was the problem, but when I took it in they said that my cluster was bad and the gauges were messed up.I paid $392.00 for the cluster and $100.00 for labor.I bought this vehicle used with 119,000 miles on it on 6/20/2011 and on 2/23/2013 I had the cluster replaced with mileage of 132,356. I put on new brakes at this time since the had a habit of grabbing and making me slide and jerk to a stop.the only problem I have now is the the door locks mess up once in awhile but other than that I take my envoy in every 4000 miles for an oil change and a check up it is now 12/15/2015 and I only have 142,000 miles on it and it is still running ok.I keep checking once a month for recalls on my vehicle

The fuel sensor on this vehicle fails prematurely. *tr
My 2005 GMC envoy's fuel gauge has failed. It now reads as "empty", no matter how much fuel is in the tank. To my knowledge, there is no easy or inexpensive fix for this problem. *tr
Gasoline and oil pressure gauges stop working suddenly on a GMC envoy 2005. *tr
Same problem everybody else is having with there envoys, floating fuel needle, now my check engine light is on which occasionally will go off, but now I can't pass emission inspection because my check engine happens to be on, and now I am forced to get the problem fixed in order to pass inspection. Thanks gm, just what I need a week before christmas. Only 60,00 miles on car and I have to deal with this. Could possibly be last gm car bought in this house. *tr

The rear windshield of my 2005 GMC envoy xl exploded for no apparent reason today. I lifted the full hatch (not just the window section) to place items in the back that I had purchased at home depot. I placed a can of paint, one bag, and a bag of sand in the back - nothing that was near the glass of the hatch. I then closed the hatch with enough force for it to close securely, but not with excessive force. As I walked to the driver side door to enter the car, I heard a loud pop that I thought was someone hitting the back of my car with their vehicle. As I walked around to the back, my rear window was shattered into a million tiny pieces. There were no objects or people around the window close enough to break it - it just shattered for no reason at all! The dealership says they have
Rear windshield/back window shattered on it's own while parked in parking lot. Couldn't figure out why or what had caused this to happen. Took the vehicle to shop for windshield to be replaced, and when I got in the car to leave the shop the rear windshield shattered again. My daughter was in the back seat at the time and this scared the crap out of both of us. The shop could not believe this and replaced the window for a 2nd time. When I got home I googled 'GMC envoy, rear window' and see this has happened to many others with envoys of different year models. Something needs to be looked into here for the safety of those of us driving these vehicles. *tr

Lights go off and won't come back on for 2 hours. You can smell something burning but cannot find where it is coming from. I have replaced all bulbs 3 times. And nothing changes.

I have had a problem in the past with the fuel gauge reading empty continuously as I have read from many other complaints. Recently I experienced a problem with the oil pressure gauge. At first the check engine light appeared intermittently and then the oil pressure gauge dropped to zero, at which time the message in on the lcd reading said "stop engine" and "oil pressure low". I immediately went to my gas station and checked the oil, which was only down a 1/4 tank. My mechanic stopped the car and started it again and the oil pressure gauge reset itself but once I started to drive the car again, the oil pressure dropped. My mechanic believes it is another sensor problem like the fuel sensor but is not completely sure. I only started with this issue today but it is more worrisome

Left and right rear door locks will not remain latched, whether locked or unlocked. These latches were replaced in july 2006 and the replacement locks are now defective as well. Van devere dealership in akron, ohio charged $100.15 to determine locks will not work; advised me to call gm customer service. Called gm customer service 866-790-5600 x 32380 complaint file 71-585106455; robert johnson stated that the service manager of the repairing dealer in july 2006, premier in rittman, ohio would not replace locks because parts beyond 12 month warranty. I explained that this was a safety issue, and explained the danger of defective locks; robert johnson stated there was nothing else he would do. Aside from the poor quality, locks are crucial to vehicle safety, and locks on a 2005 vehicle

I purchased my envoy from a used car lot with no warning lights and no apparent safety concerns about 2 yrs ago other then what appeared to be a replaced front bumper cover and the vehicle was repainted the same color white, since then the brakes have intermittently not disengaged on one side or the other I believe it's the front brakes and seems to be worse after a longer drives and after bleeding the system the pedal would be firm and next day spongy feeling and going down rather far. Air bags did not deploy apon impact. It is available for inspiration although I am attempting to repair it after my accident the brakes are still as they were. I have tried both on as well as performance pads and rotors booster check valve and fluid replacement with no change. I was coming back from my daug
