airbags 7 complaints shown
Dt*: the contact stated the airbags did not deploy in a crash. At approximately 30-40 MPH the vehicle exited the road and hit numerous trees, landing in a ditch. Everything on the vehicle was damaged except the driver's side door. The vehicle was totaled, and a police report was taken at the scene. The insurance company determined the airbags did not deploy because of the angle at which the vehicle collided with both the trees and ditch. *ak

Takata recall - recently my airbag light has appeared lit on my dashboard. I was parked and noticed it as I pulled out of the parking space. I have not received a recall notice yet. I would like to receive a recall so I can have this taken care of.

My mother's 2005 Honda civic airbag warning light came on and stayed on,she took it to a mechanic she trust and he said that it was probably the seatbelt tensioner but to be sure he hooked the car to the computer and sure enough it was. He said that he sees a lot of hondas with problems with the seatbelt that cause the warning light to come on and was wonder why there wasn't a recall on this problem. The fix cost my mom about $600.00 between the computer dignostic , labor and parts. He car only has 27000 miles on it and hasn't been in any accidents. She is 84 years old. I went online to look up this problem and there are a number of people that have this problem in fact the lady I work with has this problem with her Honda crv that's about the same year as my mother's civic..just wonder if
Takata recall - I am having difficulty getting the necessary paperwork from Honda america to have the airbags replaced in my Honda civic and Honda crv. I am stationed with the military in germany. The Honda dealer in stuttgart, germany will not order parts or replace the airbags until they have paperwork from Honda america. To complicate matters I will move back to america in 3 months, and plan to ship both vehicles. The u.s. Government transportation command states it will not ship my vehicles with open recall or safety issues. I need to have this resolved as soon as possible. Without the recall repaired I will be forced to leave my cars here in germany. I submitted my initial request to Honda on 26 oct. *tr

Yellow warning light on dash. Diagnostic reports from autozone indicated misfire codes of 1, 3, 4, and random misfire. Radiator fluid started to go down in engine without drawing radiator fluid from the reservoir following a routine changing of the engine belt in june 2020. Mechanic failed to refill the radiator reservoir, but mechanic and Honda dealership report this would not have caused a head gasket failure. A similar problem occurred when the car had 88,000 miles on it, and a mechanic in silicon valley failed to rehook up the radiator reservoir while working on the SRS. After driving 699 miles to portland, or, the car overheated on a city street, was immediately stopped, and towed to a garage. The garage found radiator fluid to be low in the radiator, refilled it, let it idl
Overheating lead to cracked block and eventually complete engine failure. Starting 2006-? There has been a recall on these engines. After looking at many Honda civics for sale this seems to be common problem spanning more years. I believe the recall should be expanded.
K20a3 camshaft lobes have pits/galling on them. They make a loud ticking/tapping noise. Possible decrease in gas mileage, poor performance, and reliability issue. If left unintended could cause further damage to engine. Common problem with the k20a3 engines manufacture defect. Honda should address this.

I use to have to push the button in on the gear shift to get it to go into gear. Now you can just freely push it back and forth.
1) since I bought the car in 2005 (new), periodically the anti-lock brake system kicks in for no apparent reason (while I am braking, of course). 2) under the above situation, as well as at other times when the antilock brakes kick in, I cannot get the ABS to disengage no matter what I do, until the car has reached a complete stop. 3) intermittently, the antilock brake system, when it kicks in, the car will take an exceedingly long, very very exceedingly long time to stop. Very exceeding long. At almost all these times, I was already going very slowly toward a stop sign, stoplight or approaching an intersection to turn. It seems that the wheels lock up and the car just slides. As a result of #3, I have run innumerable stop signs, a few stop lights, the other night I almo

I first noticed the problem with the head lights dim from regular brightness to really low while driving. Then I noticed the lights inside the car doing the same dim while the engine is off. And today, on my dashboard I noticed the SRS indicator light turned on red, and stays on red as I drive it. Everything is original on the vehicle, no after market. Vehicle has never been in an accident and no repairs have been made, minor or major. *tr
I had common wealth motors in lawrence massachusetts replace my air bag in on 08/05/2015 due to many post card warnings I kept receiving by mail. Soon after, a light indicating my seat belt connected to my airbag continues to stay on. I went back to common wealth motors because of an inspection sticker issue with this light problem and they tried to get me to pay over 500.00 dollars to fix the issue as well as shut the light off. It is 12/8/17 and the light is still on.

Tag and rear running lights failed 11/28/2012. Rick case Honda dealer said the entire rear tail light harness was brittle due to age and required replacement at a cost of $ 228 labor and $186 for the parts. In my mind this main harness is poorly designed for the life time of the vehicle and should have connectors that allow repair for less cost to consumer since tail lights are safety issue and I observe a number of Honda civics on the highway with failed or failing tail lights. I think the wiring harness should be higher grade wire due to safety concerns or have connectors added to insure repairs are easy to conduct for the do it yourself repairs or improve the design so failures due not occur with age of the vehicle. *tr
