Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Jeep liberty diesel engine purchased new april 2005. While attempting to park the vehicle he could smell a burning odor. Upon exiting the vehicle, he noticed smoke coming from both the driver's and passenger's side rear wheels. He then attempted to move the vehicle , but it would not engage into drive mode. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and he was awaiting the diagnosis of the vehicle. He speculated that his failures are identical to the description referenced in recall campaign id number 06v341000 (power train:automatic transmission). No repairs were made to the vehicle to date. The failure and current mileages were under 40,000. The VIN was not available.

Jeep announced a recall on 2005 Jeep liberty's, recall #05v460000. The vehicle is being driven by my daughter who is a student at john's hopkins in baltimore. Due to her work load, I flew from novi to baltimore md, to have the recall service completed and an appoint ment made on 12/9 when the notice was received. I arrived at the dealer , antwerpen and the time assigned and after hour I am informed that the part is not available. I politely asked that when my daughter returns the car to be repaired the next time that they provide her with transportation, since we made an appointment and I flew out to get it done. Granted I was there to help her with other issues, but this was the main reason for the trip. They informed me that this was not possible. I the contacted daimler Chrysler (case n

Received re-call notice, contacted dealership as instructed in notice and was told they didn't have parts. Contacted daimler Chrysler at the number provided and they said they could not/would not do anything. Now my car is not fixed and the dealership and daimler Chrysler are both telling me it is not their job, fault, problem. *nm

I bought a new 2005 Jeep liberty from Chrysler. It has less than 30,000 miles on it (warranty is for 36,0000/3years). I have always kept it in good condition, and have done all maintenance (oil changes, tire rotation, etc.) .a few of my oil changes were done at an oil shop, even at the dealer. So, out of the blue (no warning lights, or "strange" sounds previous to this) as soon as I started it, I heard a funny "clanking" sound. I got in, figured I''d be cautious, and take it around the block.when I put my foot on the gas, the "clanking" noise increased. So, I parked it and had it towed to the original dealership. First, they looked at and said they weren't sure what the problem was, but would have the engine tech. Look at it. He finally did (after 3 days of hearing nothing) and said tha

Was stopped at a red light waiting to turn left. When the stop light turned green I attempted to proceed with the vehicle. Initially when I depressed the accelerator nothing happened. After about 15 seconds the vehicle lurched dramatically forward into opposing traffic. We were very lucky that the oncoming cars were able to swerve to avoid the vehicle. I took it in to a repair facility and the inspection showed that it was a transmission failure.the vehicle has been previously repaired on 5 separate occasions for similar transmission problems. In speaking with the mechanic performing the repair he indicated that Chrysler had severe problems with the 42rle transmissions. I'm filing this complaint as I am very concerned that manufacturer has been allowed to produce a vehicle with an I

Two years ago my Jeep started making metallic grinding sounds and violently shaking uncontrollably. I looked under my car at the front drive shaft to see it breaking apart from the inside out. I notified Chrysler and after a long conversation they agreed to fix it admitting it was a faulty part. Yesterday the noises and shaking came back with the newly replaced front drive shaft. Chrysler admits its a unfair situation but refuses to replace there faulty part once again. This will cause a accident as it will happen unexpectedly. Thank you for taking my complaint. *tr

I have a 2005 Jeep liberty sport. Major snow storm and trying to get home from work. Put the car into 4 wheel drive, shaft broke from internal connector and now it is permanently stuck in four wheel drive. 4wheel drive is horrible, spun out going 10 miles per hour while going up hill, almost got struck by a truck. After some research I've found that it is widely known among the industry that the Jeep liberty has a poorly designed and faulty 4 wheel drive system but Jeep refuses to recall to fix the problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Jeep liberty. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted a squeaking noise while driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized mechanic for inspection who located that the front lower ball joint fractured. Because there was no corrosion, the dealer stated that the front ball joint would not be replaced under the manufacturer's warranty. My wife and I were returning from vacation when without warning the car acted like it was going over a wash board surface for a few seconds and then came a loud bang and then no power. The vehicle pulled hard to the left briefly (we were in the passing lane). I struggled to get the car over to the right shoulder and shut it down. There was a trail of oil on the highway and it continued pour oi out of the engine after I stopped. Prior to the incident, the car was running correctly and none of the warning lights on the instrument panel came on until after the event. The temperature gauge was at its usual twelve o'clock position. Once off the road I opened the hood. There was oil all over the bottom of the engine. The serpentine belt and the tensioner pulley had been ripped off th

I had my vehicle in for an oil change at the dealer who sold me my 2005 Jeep liberty and was informed at that time that there was a recall on my vehicle. I was not notified previous to that. That is not my major complaint. My area of concern is that I had to put my name on a list and wait until parts are available. The recall is for ball joint and while it could lead to a very serious accident Chrysler seems unconcerned. My dealer told me that Chrysler sends out 20,000 letters per week to notify customers of the problem but only produces 1,000 units that will rectify the problem and make the vehicle safe to drive. I feel that Chrysler should be doing everything that they can to protect their customers. I feel very unsafe in my own vehicle. *nm

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Jeep liberty. During fueling gasoline would spray out of the fuel tank, which caused the surrounding area to be submerged with fuel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the technician stated that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. A representative from the manufacturer stated that they do not have any reports referencing the failure. They would not assume responsibility for the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.

When pumping gas into my car, when it approaches full, gas spills out of the tank. It does not recognize when the car is full with gas, and gas spillage occurs. I contacted Chrysler and brought the vehicle for a diagnosis into a Jeep dealership. The stated that the fuel tank needs replacement which would cost approximately 1600 dollars. They would only cover 50 percent, which I cannot afford, and will not take any other responsibility with helping with this repair. *tr

I own a 2005 Jeep liberty, every time I fill the car up with gas, it spits out at me. Not just a little, it gets on my clothes, runs down my car and quite a bit ends up on the ground. This has been happening for a long time. I thought this was unique to my vehicle, but I have found out a lot Jeep liberty owners have the same problem I do. When I took my car in to get fixed they said it cost $2100. The people at Chrysler that I have talked to admit they have seen a lot of this and were willing to work with me, but it would still cost me $500. I believe this is extremely unsafe to me and the environment and these vehicle should be recalled because of this problem. This is not just unique to Jeep liberty, but to other Jeep products. *tr

The fuel filter head unit on my 2005 Jeep liberty crd diesel has a defective design. It is a well documented issue with owners of these vehicles. The fuel heater in the filter head appears to overheat and cause a fuel leak. This causes a dangerous situation to occur as fuel leaks onto wires which are used to power the fuel heater. Once this leak begins, it introduces air into the fuel system which can damage the injector pump or cause a sudden loss of power which may cause a traffic hazard. I have taken pictures of the effected parts. They can be viewed here: this is the burnt connector: http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g222/chadhargis/webpics/p1010031.jpg this is after priming the fuel head, you can see the fuel bubbling out: http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g222/chadhargis/web
