At any given time the lights just go out and I can only see by manually using the high beam lights. The lights will come on for a few moments then out they go again. You can hear a clicking sound when it is goes out and back on. This is extremely dangerous especially since I have 3 children in my vehicle and any given time. *tr

The headlights on the vehicle went out while driving on the highway. Parking lights stayed on and flashers worked allowing to get the car to the break down line. This has happen about 8-10 times since the first. In checking for a fix, I found there are a number of companies offering a repair solution and this looks like a common and dangerous problem that occurs often. I noticed this has been investigated before but nothing done. Having your headlights go out seems dangerous enough to me. The repair part to do it yourself is sold for about $10. $125 + to purchase a repaired lighting control module. My Ford dealer will replace the lcm for $650. *tr

Nighttime, turned car off in drive through line at fast food place 185 miles from home. Have light switch on automatic. Turned car on and drove off only to realize that my headlights were not on. Stopped in adjacent parking lot and began playing with the switch, turning car off and on, trying to figure out how to drive three hours with no lights... High beam flash mode would function, but would be very unsafe on two lane highway. Suddenly began working on own. Stopped one time in route home but again played with it till it came on again. Fear this is a big safety issue. *tr

Started vehicle to move it in my driveway. Put it in drive and throttle stuck open and vehicle slammed my garage corner. Tried putting it in park and it went into reverse (brake override did not work) instead and crossed street, went across neighbors landscaping stones and slammed into the house next door's front porch at which time the ignition shut down and the car came to a stop. Many thousands of dollars in damages to all three homes. *js

I was driving on I-81 at night, I operated my left turn signal while accelerating to about 75 MPH to pass a truck and my headlights went out. I accidently forced the high beam on by flipping the turn/high beam lever and I held the lever in that position until I could return to the right lane behind the truck and stop on the roadside. To say I thought I was going to die is not simply drama. The worst part was not knowing if my brake lights were working. While off the road, I could not duplicate the failure. I put on the low beam and proceeded on I-81. After some miles, I again tried the left turn signal and again the lights went out. This time I was ready, and used the high beam lever to get to the roadside. Again I could not duplicate the failure. I exited as soon as possible, run

12/31/2007 30,000 mi Fire ODI #10213247.0

I purchased a 2005 grand marques from this company. I was driving one day (11/5/07) when the vehicle caught on fire, I was lucky enough to be in front of firestone service station. As soon as I exit the vehicle the engine burst into flames. Firestone along with the assistant of the charlotte fire dept came to my rescue siding that it was an electrical fire. The car was towed back to the dealer for repair. After admitting that it was a malfunction of the sensor in the heating element, insurance company was off the hook. But I'm left to fight of not wanting to repair a burnt engine and repainting the car. What I'masking for is a car of equal value. My argument is that if list on car facts, the vehicle is no longer worst what I owe. Plus six weeks prior to the fire I had just paid 15

The low beam headlights failed while driving at various speeds without warning. I was forced to drive with the high beams illuminated. This happens very frequently. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. I called the dealer. They said it was not covered under warranty. He said the part would be about $600, and with labor all cost would run about $800!the vehicle was not repaired the current mileage was 71,100. Remanufactured lcm is about $300 or new about $500 from an independent auto parts store. *tr

On three occasions when shifting from park to reverse the engine sped up (accelerated drastically) causing the wheels to spin and only by quick application of the brake was an incident avoided. I drove into a parking space, put the car in park, then not satisfied with the position I attempted to back up, that's when the car accelerated. *jb

Rough engine idle, dealer reps say "all the new ones do it", "it's normal". I have asked them about it on several occasions since purchasing the car. My 2005 marquis does not get nearly the good gas mileage the 2001 marquis did with the same engine. The dealer told me "you can't compare cars". *nm
