My 2005 Nissan altima has the same problem with the crankshaft position sensor. My car is not on the recall list. I was just wondering why my car is not on the recall list? Is Nissan waiting for an accident to happen first? I went out today to start my car and now it won't start at all. My check engine light came on and it was reading the troubleshooting # p0335 which is the crankshaft sensor. I spoke to a Nissan rep. Yesterday and she refused to help me out if did not go to a Nissan dealer to have my car checked by them. Sorry, I don't have that kind of money. There are places that do it for nothing now. I think you should look into this problem. I do fear driving my car now. Please look into this problem for all of the Nissan owners. *tr

We have 2005 Nissan altima with the 2.5 motor, cars engine light came on and we took it to our mechanic and he said it was the crankshaft sensor, and told me about the recall. I took my car to the nearest Nissan dealer, and all they told me there was a recall on the ECM, and that was all., nothing about the crankshaft sensor. I told them about it and they said my car was not under that recall. How can that be when there is a recall for that year, that model, and that motor. I even called a Nissan rep; and he told me the same thing. I had to had to have my car that weekend so I took it back to my mechanic and he replaced the sensor and we haven't had any problems since. I think I got '!@#$% by Nissan. *tr

The car failed to start after owning the car for 13 months. The car acted as if it was flooded, cranking but not firing. To start the car I had to hold the gas pedal down until the car fired and started. The failure occurred after recently purchasing gasoline. We only use 2-3 different gas stations with good reputations. It seemed to happen the first cold spell of november 2005. The dealer said these circumstances shouldn't cause flooding and if the check engine light didn't come on they couldn't do anything to help us. The problem has not recurred but as a precaution, I ran the gas tank almost empty and put in a bottle of gas treatment. I also plan, if possible, on buying my gas from only one source from here on out. *nm

The car failed to start only two weeks after buying it, and the problem has recurred. The car acts as if it's flooded, cranking but not firing. Both failures occurred after recently purchasing gasoline (the same gasoline retailer is used fairly consistently) and driving the car immediately home in cold, but not severely cold, temperatures. The dealer said these circumstances shouldn't cause flooding, but has been unable to find any problems and now refuses to research it further. Nissan consumer affairs has advised of a recall that may be applicable, but the dealer doesn't seem to be aware of it and I'm in the process of following up on this point. *nm

I had no problems with my car until this recall was repaired - NHTSA campaign #07v527000 engine and engine cooling - 2005 Nissan altima -- on certain passenger vehicles equipped with a 2.5l engine, the crankshaft position sensor can overheat causing a brief interruption in the signal output from the sensor. If the interruption in the signal from the crankshaft position sensor is so brief that the electronic control module (ECM) logic does not have time to diagnose the condition, the engine may stop running without warning while the vehicle is driven at a low speed increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will reprogram the ECM free of charge. My car was part of this recall. Since the reprogramming was completed my car started having slow acceleration and jerks while engine tries to upshif

Dt: the contact stated the fuel system and cluster module had to be replaced with less than 800 miles on the vehicle. There was a pinging noise coming from under the mid section. The vehicle was taken to the dealership, and they stated this noise was normal. A local mechanic determined it was a broken catalytic converter. Based on complaints on a website she felt that a clamp nut may be loose. This has not been addressed by the dealership. After 90 minutes in the vehicle the contact became dizzy by what she felt may be related to the exhaust system. The transmission jerked, and hesitated in low gears. The dealership has not been able to diagnose the problem with the transmission. The front windshield defroster partially defrosts the driver's side, but did not work at on the

I am original owner of a 2005 altima. We recently discovered both the driver and passenger side floorboards are rusted out/through. This car has been well cared for and this is a major concern and safety issue. I have researched this and seen numerous on-line blogs and formal complaints filed to NHTSA on the same issue for Nissan owners. I did personally contact Nissan consumer affairs and filed a claim with them on this matter. They very politely turned me down on any support for the structural issue and said the car is too old (7 yrs) and not under warranty anymore. The quote to fix this issue is $1,100.00 that I don't have and I am very disappointed in Nissan to not stand behind this structural issue. I hope the NHTSA can help me in this matter and other owners facing the same pr

My car would act like it was skipping a gear and jerk. It would also sometimes not start. The ultimate failure is that my car stalls while I'm driving it. It used to be every so often and has now become a daily thing. I am replacing the crank position sensor myself as this is the cause of the problem. Nissan knows this but has done nothing to remedy the situation. My car is out of warranty so it wasn't worth my while to even check with Nissan to have this fixed. *tr

I was driving about 30 miles/per hour through an intersection and a driver drives to make a left hand turn I front of me. My car was struck mostly in the front towards the driver side. My airbag (driver side) did not deploy, but the other driver's did. After the accident my car was in-drivable and had to be towed. *tr

"takata air bag" - Nissan's VIN server has been "down" for over 2 weeks, and do not answer their phone to check if our vehicle is effected by the takata air bag recall. Also, this sites NHTSA VIN search also crashes when searching for Nissan VIN numbers. Nissan should be answering their phone, and fix their website so VIN can be researched on this serious - life threatening issue!

I have had nothing but problems from my 2005 altima that I purchased new in sept 05. The first week I owned the vehicle my engine light came on and the vehicle was very sluggish from takeoff, I then called the dealership where I purchased the vehicle and was told that all Nissan are sluggish and need to be driven to get the "newness from the vehicle" what kind of crap is that. About 6 months ago, I noticed that my brakes are squealing and my tires needed to be replaced, I don't even have 20k miles on my vehicle so this is very mysterious to me. Nissan in my opinion does not listen to its customers and claims to be the very best towards their customers on the commercials but in reality they are just another big company making money at the expense of "use to be loyal" customers". At first we thought it was the belt because the belt from coming off you change the serpentine belt and then it would run for a little bit then it started to stop and not be able to get enough fuel to the gas pedal and I'd have to rev it up. We opened it up where the spark plugs were on the valve covers and it was halfway full of oil we got all the oil out when we ordered a new valve cover and spark plugs the car run fine for one day now it will not start again. The fan turns on like it is running but there is no power to the car at all. I read that after the oil gets into the valve covers there's really no fixing it after that. And every time that we fix it only last for one day and so it's very dangerous for me and my daughter to be driving around in that unreliable car what can I do abo

I recently experienced my vehicle stalling as I was driving. It took several minutes for me to restart leaving me venerable to a vehicle crash. The same evening I learned of recall# 07v527000. The following day I brought my vehicle to a Nissan dealership to have the recall resolved. They advised the recall only covers reprogramming computer not replacing defective crank sensor. I feel that reprogramming computer will not resolve safety issue as the sensor is defective and could fail even with reprogramming computer. I was charged 96.00 dollars to have problem diagnosed. Dealer refused to replace defective part. To my understanding many other altima owners experience this same problem and are forced to pay for defective parts that fail.dealer did not offer to reprogram computer they insiste
