2005 tacoma failed inspection due to a hole in the frame from rust. Vehicle inspected by the dealer from which it was purchased. Had purchased vehicle just less than one year earlier, second owner. No accidents and well cared for. Ironically enough, we bought this tacoma to replace the 1998 tacoma we lost due to a frame rust problem in the Toyota buyback program. Dealer did fix at no cost under used car warranty. Reported issue to the Toyota used car salesman who sold us the truck and he stated he was not aware of any frame rust issues on 2005 tacomas. After a cursory investigation I find this hard to believe. Apparently Toyota has not thoroughly addressed frame rust issues that plagued earlier models. A complaint will be filed with Toyota customer relations. Very concerned about r

2005 Toyota tacoma has cracked frame. 05 is a new body/frame style b/c of the 99-04 tacoma defective frames. After taking it to the shop b/c my fan motor was about to fall off, that's when the discovery was made. Mechanic stated this vehicle was not safe to drive. It has been reported to Toyota hq. My local Toyota dealer has also contacted Toyota. There are no recalls for 2005. Mechanic/body shop owner states it cannot be repaired. Frame must be replaced, and he stated most people are not qualified to replace a frame, which may present further safety issues. *tr

I purchased my 2005 Toyota tacoma used with 108,000 miles on it on 12/8/2016. It failed virginia inspection on 12/20/2016 due to rust in the frame. The truck is not safe or legal to drive. Toyota will not cover the damage under lsc e0d, which expired in march 2016, despite that the vehicle was in a Toyota dealer twice during the service campaign.

Toyota sent me a recall notice (that was not listed on your site) for rust on the frame. I had the dealership inspect it and they said that it is bad and Toyota will replace the frame. The dealership is telling me that specific parts (the power steering rack and lines) that are rusty will not be able to be put back when the frame is replaced (and the truck assembled again) but I have to pay the cost. I had those specific parts looked at by my mechanic and although a portion (the lines are bad and I am having replaced) the ps rack is not in bad condition. I contacted Toyota to see what they will cover and was told they will not cover parts that are not the frame. My truck is 10 years old. It is in great condition and runs great and I planned to keep it for a long time. My concern is t

Over normal use of the vehicle, it has sustained several paint chips. The paint has been chipped on the front side of the bed, from debris being thrown up by the front tires, and on the rocker panels. Toyota obviously thought of the issue by placing a thicker coat along the bottom of the vehicle. It did not work. The rear springs are also squeaking already. Usually not an issue as the bushings wear out, but a little concerned after only 4600 miles have been put on the vehicle. *nm

Pulled into my driveway to park my 2005 tacoma and all of a sudden my tacoma accelerates forward and plunges into the rear end of my 2000 corvette which was parked in my garage, and does $1321.22 in damage. The force from the tacoma knocked my corvette about 3 feet forward into a freezer in the garage. I was approximately 6 feet behind the corvette, and the corvette was in gear and the emergency brake was applied, when the tacoma suddenly accelerated forward. I have been parking in same location or 9 years and this has never occurred before. I have had all recalls done concerning the sudden acceleration problem with the tacoma. This was not a pedal problem, it is a Toyota problem. If his had happened at a intersection who knows what may have happened. Someone needs to "fix" this problem.

Started truck and when pulling out of driveway steering become extremely stiff. No unusual sounds. Stiffness is not always there, it pulsates. Fluid level and color all within specs. Belt within specs. I plan on putting it on a lift when I return home and preform an inspection. Suspect u joint failure.

When turning the steering wheel in either direction I have extremely stiff steering. It seems to stick and is not fluid when turning. I am concerned that this can cause an accident while driving. I have checked the steering power fluid level and it is at the correct level.

2005 Toyota tacoma sr5 dbl cab, 6 cyl, 4.0 eng. 50k miles, 4 wheel drive, manual transmission: driver side airbag light turned on and stays on. I have searched the internet for info. On it and have found a lot of people have been having this problem. Going by the info. Found on line, from google to newsgroups it seems that the spiral cable in the steering column is failing at a alarming rate. The Toyota dealers are just charging for diagnostics and not admitting a product defect. I am taking mine to the dealer and is $117.00 just to diagnose it.. And I know this takes them 10 min or less to hook it up to the computer and get the error codes printed. This dealers are charging $90 to $120 just for the diagnostic.. And it seems the repairs can go from $300 up to $800.00. SRS (air bag) issues

On two occasions the brakes have failed in wet conditions. The first occurred when going through standing water of about 5" under normal temperature. The second occurred after going through a car wash in temperature of 39 degrees. After going through the car was I was traveling about 5 MPH through a parking lot to park in front of a convenience store, the truck stuck the curb, and nearly struck propane tanks stored in front of store. After drying the vehicle and waiting about 15 minutes I proceeded to the intersection in front of business and brakes failed again. *nm
