I started the vehicle, proceeded forward in a strait line, reached +/- 15 MPH and the side curtain airbags deployed. I did not hit anything, was not hit and did not roll the vehicle. The ground was very smooth/flat. I received neck injuries and have had headaches ever since. My passenger received whip lash and has lost most of his hearing in his right ear permanently. It took 43 days for a response from Toyota (corporate). There position is that there airbag deployment system can not fail. There are 2 additional witnesses beside the driver/passenger who were standing just outside the vehicle when it happened. Toyota has not talked to any witnesses nor asked any questions. They have simply maintained that their system can't fail and are refusing to fix the vehicle. I will have to

The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that he was made aware of the vehicle's frame corrosion by an independent mechanic. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
The driver's side front frame has rotted out disconnecting the mount for the anti-roll bar. This has happened despite several reports to the dealership going back many years that the frame was rusting rapidly which, upon examination, they said that it was OK. They did apply a coating which might have delayed the process a bit but ultimately resolved nothing. For trucks that had perforated frames during the first few years, they replaced the frame. I tried to take care of mine, but it has finally failed and they say the replacement program is over. They are unwilling to provide even the necessary frame section and mounting bracket for the sway bar (~$545) for the frame shop to install %(2120).This vehicle has less than 98,000 miles on it and is used for short trips performing farmette dutie

the frame has rotted to the point the vehicle cannot be driven. rusted with holes all in it unsafe
I have a 2005 Toyota tundra, which has the entire frame all rusted. I already replaced all brake lines and differential because of the rust. The mechanic said it is rusted so bad that it could fall apart. There was a limited campaign for a recall on our tundra and the spray was done in 2015. Obviously it didn't take because of all the continuous issues we are having. I called the corporate office of Toyota and opened an claim and the manager I spoke to really could care less and told me that once the warranties are over its no longer their (Toyota) problem. I requested a field inspection technician to look at the truck . That request was denied by the manager who stated that he was speaking for Toyota. I asked for my claim to be reviewed by some one above him and he stated th

I was heading up my close friends snow covered driveway in my 2005 Toyota tundra double cab 4wd. I had the truck engaged in 4h mode because of the slight snow cover. As I was 2/3 the way up I heard a pop and loud bang and the truck came to a stop with the rear wheels spinning I let off of the gas then started to slide backwards into a tree and then into a ditch causing contact with the r/f door and r/f fender removing the mirror in the process. Upon removal of the truck form the ditch I found that the r/f (pass side)wheel was locked up. At this time we were moving the truck off of the road way and then the wheel began to move after going forward and back a few times. I took the truck to the local Toyota dealer where they said that the truck had a broken r/f cv joint. They have refuse
I own a 2005 Toyota tundra with just 60,000 miles. In 2014 Toyota was allowed to put a band-aid on a problem that needed a tourniquet - applying a rust converter coating to a frame that, because of their failure to manufacturer it properly, deserved replacing. I was told by Toyota (case number [xxx]) that because the previous owner took the band-aid they were no longer liable until the government forced them via further government safety recall actions to do more. My hope is by writing this that the government can be proactive and solve this safety concern before they have to collect enough death and accident statistics to take notice of this issue. Not only that, I see that Toyota is being offered the same band-aid solution on a number of new models with the same issue - proving that t

Toyota has extended its warranty for the air injection pump and air switching valves on 2007-2010 tundras. The extension is for 10 years or 150,000 miles from first use. I have a 2005 tundra that has a failing air injection system. I am within 10 years of first use. The truck has the same air injection system as the tundras within the warranty extension, but Toyota refuses to honor the warranty extension on my truck. This is a $4000 fix and the truck is unsafe to drive in the current state. *tr

tires 2 complaints shown
Driving on 81 n (mile marker 160) in pa at 7:10 am when front passenger tire blows out. This caused me to swerve across both lanes come back hit the guard rail. Truck flips over onto guard rail, slides for a ways on guard rail, then rolls over as it descends a hill. The blowout was in my lane (gauge in pavement) without any object in the road. Tire lost pressure instantaneously. Both tow driver & insurance adjuster pointed out tire as cause of accident. The tire was a michelin ltx m/s2 with 33000 miles on it, but it had a 70000 mile warranty. Shape & direction of tear in tire is in the opposite direction of the tire rotation, so I take this as additional evidence that I didn't run over an object in the road. *tr
Morning drive from fredericksburg, va to syracuse ny along route 81n. Roads are empty, dry, & sun is up. I had just decided to stop at next exit for breakfast when my 2005 tundra pickup is violently jerk to the right. I try to fight it back straight when it suddenly takes of to the left, then jerks back to the right. I hit the guard rail & the truck flips over. The next thing I remember I'm hanging upside down & I'm hearing a strange noise. I turn the keys off & the noise stops. I think I smell gas and fight my way out of the seat belt & crawl out what is left of the passenger side window since the drivers side is blocked. When I get out there is someone yelling from road. I tell him I'm ok & a trooper stops. I start collecting some silver coins that are scattered when I hear the trooper

Windshield wiper motor failed to work. 6 month old truck and the windshield wiper motor assembly failed. Toyota fixed it under warranty. Had to wait 2 days for the parts. 10 month later the windshield wiper motor failed again. This is a truck with less then 20k miles. In both cases I had to drive home in the rain without any wipers. 1st incident 2/22/06, 2nd 12/25/06. *nm
