HID light on left side flickers then can fail and go to a dipped status displaying in the console. Turning off the lights and back on will restore them. Forums cannot isolate the issue to bulb-flash update for headlights-or ballast. Just google Audi dipped or HID flicker. My concern is that the light make other drivers think your flashing them. Its a distraction to other drivers. Failure in a corner is dangerous. *tr

2006 Audi a4 headlights intermittently shut off while driving. This very dangerous condition occurs daily and sometimes three or four times during a 45 minute commute. The headlight switch has to be moved to the off position then back to on and usually that restores them, otherwise car must be stopped and shut off then turned back on. This is a very serious safety problem. *tr

Intermittent headlight malfunction. Over the course of a year and a half of ownership, both the left and right headlights have malfunctioned (flickered and then turned off), with no consistent cause apparent. The specific error message that appears in the driver information screen is "left/right headlight dipped". This condition is both unsafe, and illegal - as many states will issue a traffic violation for driving with a non-functioning headlight. It has happened over 10 times, the headlight flickers, then goes out, but will come back on when the car is restarted, then be fine for weeks or months at a time. The dealership has been notified of the problem on at least 2 visits, and has claimed that everything is fine and they can not reproduce. They have suggested/guessed that it is the xe

The xenon headlights of my 2006 Audi a4 quattro has this annoying -- and dangerous -- problem: 1. The left or right headlights flicker (the left one was recently fixed) 2. After flickering the headlight will shut off 3. The message "left dipped headlight" or "right dipped headlight" appears 4. The message is changed to a sign indicating that the lightbulb has failed. If I turn the light control switch to off (note: we're talking about driving at night here) and turn it back on again, the light will become normal again, for about a few minutes and then the cycle repeats itself. The problem occurs more in colder temperatures. The dealership has replaced one of these very expensive bulbs, but will not replace the one that is currently causing problems. The car is still under w

While driving with headlights on auto a warning light for left dipped headlights came on. I turned the light switch off and back on again and the warning went away. This happened every once in a while for quite some time and turning lights off and back on made the warning go away. Now the problem has progressed to the point that I lose both left or right headlight almost every time I drive the car. The failure has been one light or the other never both at the same time so far. This necessitates turning off the lights for about five seconds and then turning them on again to get both lights working again, very dangerous and disconcerting at night especially at highway speeds. The lights fail in this manner one to three times per trip before staying on the remainder of the trip. So far I have

The left headlight flickers and turns off. Changing the bulb did not fix the problem and neither did changing the ballast. I found that there was a settled class action lawsuit however they said that the lawsuit extended the warranty for headlights to 5 years. The lawsuit was settled in 2013 and my car is a 2006 model so I am not sure how it could ever help me.

Left and right dipped light indicator even after having them reviewed and adjusted and ultimately replaced. Audi warranty would not cover the repair cost due as we were slightly over the 50000 mileage allowance. Ended up paying almost $300 for the repair. We continue to have "dipped light" problems. *tr

It has happened since I first got the car implying that this is a manufacturer defect. Constantly while driving at night as soon as I turn on one of my headlights I get a "right dipped headlight" error and my headlight flickers and goes out. The bulb fires and ignites just fine, but immediately after seems to flicker and go out, always get the error as soon as they turn on. The dealers won't fix this problem as they say it's most often replicate. The times they've attempted to fix other vehicles by switching the ballast and the bulb almost never works implying that it could be a software or design issue. This is a major concern for people that own this car. A simple online survey poll of 83 owners of this vehicle, 68% of them have had this issue. Out of 83 voters, 49% of them still

The headlights will flicker on and off, and have to be manually turned off and turned back on. Repairs and replacements of lights did not solve the problem. Complete removal of the xenon ballast and sealing the ballast seemed to correct the problem, and seems to be a defect in the manufacture of the ballast that causes moisture to invade, and short the headlights out.

Shortly after purchasing my certified pre-owned 2006 Audi a4 2.0 the left headlight flickered and turned off, resulting in a dashboard error message "left headlight dipped". This continued and frequently continues to occur to this day. When it does occur I have to turn off the headlights and then turn them back on; leaving me in the dark while driving at night. I had the Audi service center check out the issue. They said the HID bulb needs to be changed and it would be $400. I could not afford this and did not have it changed. I've read hundreds of complaints online describing this very same issue. Many stating that replacing the bulbs do not always solve the problem and much more costly repairs are needed. Audi of america has let its' customers down on this one. This is a serious sa

Intermittent headlight malfunction. The left headlight has malfunctioned (turned off), with no consistent cause apparent. The specific error message that appears in the driver information screen is "left headlight dipped". This condition is both unsafe, and illegal - as many states will issue a traffic violation for driving with a non-functioning headlight. It has happened about 12-15 times, the headlight flickers, then goes out, but will come back on when the car is restarted. The dealership has been notified of the problem, and has claimed that everything is fine and they can not reproduce. They have suggested/guessed that it is the xenon light bulb itself, however it has checked out fine each time, and as mentioned, has functioned flawlessly after each occurrence with merely a restart

Intermittent headlight failure (headlight dipped): regarding my 2006 Audi a4 quattro, the left and right headlights will often go out while driving. This is more frequent on the left headlight. The error displayed is "left headlight dipped" or "right headlight dipped". It has also occurred on both headlights at the same time. The problem is temporarily corrected by manually switching off the headlights, and then turning them back on. This is an obvious safety concern due to the reduction in visibility while driving at night. I was unable to convince my authorized Audi service center to correct the problem while the car was under manufacturer warranty because they could not duplicate it on site. Calls to Audi of america also did not result in any action being taken to correct the pr

Audi headlight shutters and shuts down. Indicator states 'left headlight dipped'. Failure started as intermittent and is now as often as everyday when headlights are on. Nothing has been done to correct the failure. When the light is turned off then on again, the light will work and then will shutter/shut down again. Consequence is a missing headlight at night which can cause other vehicles not to see me or lack of lighting in the driving pathway which could result in an accident (pedestrian, other vehicles, bikes, animals, etc..). Car was taken into the dealer several times but dealer has claimed that no issue is bulb related and will cost over $400us to replace at my expense. *tr

This is not a complaint about [xxx], my Audi dealer. (my wife has an a6 under recall same problem). Your web site says 12 million air bags have been replaced. But Audi tells me that they have not received any indication of when they will receive replacements from takata and I feel at risk driving my car. Why has Audi not received replacements and 12 million others have? Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 Audi a4. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v382000 (air bags) however, the parts to do the repair was unavailable. The manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Part distribution disconnect.

Takata recall- recall initiated in may 2016. It is december 2016, and dealer says no fix is available yet. This is unacceptable. They recommended that no one sit in passenger seat, this is unacceptable and puts myself and my passengers at risk every time I drive.

Takata recall- my life is in danger everyday. Why Audi ignoring the safety of my life by not replacing the bags quickly? It has been too long, and what is taking so long. This is unacceptable.

Headlamp has "dipped" multiple times while driving (day and night) since I have owned the vehicle (now at 77k). There is an Audi tsb out for this issue but can never get a certified Audi dealership to fix this issue as they cannot make it happen on command when they inspect it. Not only is this a known issue but it is an issue that is a safety problem that Audi and it's affiliates do not take seriously or show determined interest in fixing. *tr
