Air bag light on. I call Cadillac and they advised me to take it immediately to the dealer. I ask the representative if they have received complaints on the same problem and he said a few. I asked him if its under warranty and he said that he will forward it to the warranty person who will handle my case. However, they will need a report from the dealer on the problem and if the dealer finds the part defective they will replace it at no cost to me. He connected me to the healey brothers the nearest dealer to my home. I made the appointment and before I made the appointment the dealer representative tried to informed me that if the car was not in a crash the part may be defective. The gm representative was still on the line and immediately cut off the dealer and stated you are to check the

2006 Cadillac cts passenger side air bag sensor . Original problem was the service air bag light came on the dash approximate mileage 68700. My new Cadillac cts (purchased in 3/06) was t-boned. No air bags deployed...I have been experiencing major back and leg pains of which the doctor said could be related to failure of air bag to deploy. My car was fixed by a local Cadillac dealership and they have failed repeatedly to answer our concerns. We contacted Cadillac and have had no ones attention. *jb

Airbag light illuminates due to defective module beneath passenger seat. Car has not been involved in an accident and only has 42,000 miles. Gm has already issued a recall on select model years for the same issue. Unfortunately the 2006 model is not yet included in the recall. It should be. *tr

I am the owner of a 2006 Cadillac cts 3.6l v6 with a broken timing chain which is a $1,500 repair. I was traveling 70 MPH down the highway when the timing chain went out and almost had an accident trying to pull onto the side of the road. I contacted gm and was told that even though my vehicle has the same engine as the 2007 model, it was not covered by the extended warranty. Upon researching this is a known issue with the Cadillac cts from the very beginning of its appearance in 2003. The number of complaints from 2003 to 2006 for the timing chain on the nhtfs website was the same as the number of complaints in the years covered by gm's special extended warranty (gm subject 10287 concerning timing chain issue) for the 2007-2009 cts. Gm realized the timing belts were an issue and

The car will not stop when turning into parking spaces, coming up to stop lights or going down hills. When this started happening, I thought I just needed new brakes. I went to the mechanic and replaced my brakes and got new tires, but the issue continued. In order to stop, I have to put the car in park while it is rolling. I pump the brakes, but that does not help. I have almost rear-ended vehicles while coming to stop lights. I have almost ran into light poles while parking my car. I have rolled out into the street on numerous occasions because the vehicle will not stop. All of these examples happen sporadically but often. My traction light and ABS light come on and I receive a warning on my dash stating "service brake assist". I have been very lucky so far that I have not
This has been a recurring intermittent problem when making a right braking turn at less than 5mph. The ABS light comes on and the brake pedal goes to the floor and I have to pump the brakes very hard and press down very hard to stop the car otherwise I hit the parking space stop. Many people have posted the same experience with the 2006 cts and they are told the same thing from the dealer that I was. They were not able to recreate the problem. I was told by the dealer that I had to replace the brake pads which another mechanic told me was not necessary since the pads still had 50% left on them. This is a big issue on this car and someone is going to get hurt. *tr
Dt*: the contact stated while applying slight brake pressure at 55 MPH in stop and go traffic on the highway, all four wheels locked, and the brake pedal went all the way to the floorboard without warning. The contact attempted to disengage the brakes by pumping the pedal up and down. Afterwards, the vehicle operated at a reduced speed, and hesitated to accelerate as though brake pressure was being applied. The dealer was alerted.
