The steering completely locked up multiple times while commuting to work on I-95, south, in maine. One time in particular, noted above, in which it was absolutely frightening. The entire dash would light up and all gauges would drop, the power steering would completely lock, and you would have to slowly make your way to the side of road. There were always steering, shifting, locking, braking, concerns with this car. We were constantly bringing it in to be looked at for transmission and steering issues. After multiple recalls, I thought it best to state that this car is truly unsafe. At this point we have had the car for so long, it is more of just a reassurance that someone is seriously looking into the manufacturing of these vehicles. We cant seem to get much luck with repairs, and even

Upon turning on my vehicle, I was unable to steer the steering wheel. It has happened several times. When the vehicle is stationary, the steering wheel shakes and the only way to stop it is to firmly hold it. Temporary fix has been to restart the vehicle.

My 2006 Chevy malibu has had electric power steering malfunction. I was driving on a very dangerous city highway. With my three children in car. I looked up and saw there are recalls on the year and make of my car but the dealership says they don't see a recall under my specific vehichle. I don't think it makes since and I don't know anyone to fix it. Because most cars have a normal power steering pump.

Purchased vehicle in july 2006. Certified used. Kept hearing noise, knocking from left front. Took vehicle to dealer 2-3 times until they replaced a part. Noise returned some weeks later. Now the electronic steering is malfunctioning. When the steering is turned to make a right turn the "power steering " warning light comes on and the wheel stiffens making it difficult to turn and very dangerous to drive. Dealer says car need power steering column and module which is very expensive. I have also been informed that it is not covered under warranty or the very expensive extended warranty they sold me. *tr

I was working on my mother-in-laws malibu out in the front yard and crank it after looking into some other issues this car has, and the steering wheel turns itself all the way to the left on it's own.I then try to turn it back and notice there is no power assist. I ask her about it and she said it has done that a few times recently, where she is driving down the road and all of a sudden, as explained by others, a lot of dinging and there is no power steering. Thank god this hasn't happened while she was in a turn or anything like that yet, however if it does, she is 66 years old with neck injuries and back problems, and if I had to guess will not be able to overpower the steering without the power assist operating properly. In looking over this website, I notice others have paid upwar

Driving at a local grocery store and lost steering and almost crashed into car while pulling into a parking spot. This needs to get fixed and I'm not paying for something that is a well documented problem before someone dies because gm doesn't want to fix a problem that they know about. Average cost of repair $700. Average cost of a life, priceless. Make a recall happen now. *tr

When driving and turning to the right..the steering gets stiff and the power steering alarm comes on. Once stopped I can turn the vehicle off and crank it again...the power steering resets. As you can imagine this is what I have to do each and everytime. The dealer finds nothing wrong with it when I take it in..so please advise. The fluid is good and there is no leaks. *tr

As I was driving, my steering wheel would just shake. Especially when I try to turn the steering wheel left. There'll be a clicking sound then it stiffens up and I'm unable to turn, then it stops. Yesterday, 12.20.2020, I was driving with my 2yr old in the car and my steering completely stopped altogether in the middle of me turning the corner off the highway. I had to struggle to turn the wheel to get all the way home to safety. Someone please help me 😭 thanks!

At random times during heavy acceleration (getting on freeway or hitting passing gear) the steering locks up and pulls hard to the right and you have to fight to keep it under control, after 3 to 5 seconds steering comes back to normal. I have had this happen during a u-turn as well. I have checked recall's and even called gm and there are no recalls. I have had the car check by a local shop and everything seem to be in good working order. I was told by gm to take the car to a certified gm dealer and checked and fixed, my only problem is if one mechanic could not find it will paying a gm mechanic find it? Or will I be out my time and cash as this problem happens when ever it wants to and is not consistent at all.

Using my mother's 2006 malibu maxx on 12/24/08, the back liftgate came crashing down on my wife's head while she was loading the trunk. The next morning we saw that the driver's side lift cylinder snapped off its metal ball joint. Unfortunately, this cylinder is attached to the metal ball joint via a plastic cap. Where this cap is asked to not only secure the cylinder to the liftgate frame, but also rotate and pitch the cylinder. Anyone shorter than my wife's height would have been injured severely, such as a broken neck and/or crushed skull. The Chevrolet dealer - jim o'brien Chevrolet snapped the cylinder back on its ball joint and refused to repair, fix, and/or offer an alternative to prevent this situation from happening again. *tr

I recently sent my car over to global auto mall in north plainfield, nj. It was there for a week without anyone calling me informing me if the car was finished when they were supposed to fix the recall. I came from the car mechanic today because my car was not working properly and the same items that were supposed to be fixed were not fixed and now I have to spend more money trying to fix it.I would like to be reimbursed for the work that I have done for my car immediately. I don't have money to keep fixing this car and I am willing to go to the media and other legal options that I have. I have kids and a wife to support and this recall did not help the situation. *tr

On 11/15/2011 the usa today reported that federal safety regulators were investigating problems with the automatic shift levers on several general motors cars. The national highway traffic safety administration says on its website that it's looking into the same problem on other gm cars like the 2004-2008 Chevrolet malibu. I am the original owner of a 2006 Chevrolet malibu which has been meticulously maintained and can be verified through carfax or maintenance records. I had to replace the transmission at gordon Chevrolet in tampa, florida. The cost of the transmission replacement was $3,086.01. The symptoms of the transmission problem were the exact same thing as reported in the usa today article. The vehicle wasn't finding the right gear. The shift lever would feel like it was in-b
