Brake line failure due to excessive corrosion as the lines lay on the frame. Luckily, the break was at home and I was able to get it into the shop for repair. Less than a month later, another line broke as I was pulling into my drive.

Brake failure when stepping on brakes on highway. Steel brake line from front to rear brakes ruptured and pedal went to floor with no warning. From reading on web this is a commend problem with corrosion on brake lines due to poor quality materials used in manufacturing. *tr

12/20/2015 20,000 mi ODI #10811313.0

Lost brakes while driving in residential neighborhood due to rusted brake line. Had it towed to my mechanic who did an inspection and said all the brake lines were rusted at the brackets holding the lines. My mechanic is in the process of replacing the brake lines. I talked to several other people with the same year truck and both had also experienced brake line failure from rust. Truck has only 20k miles and has only been in the salt twice as I had an older vehicle I used when it snowed. Gm needs to correct this safety defect.

2006 Chevy silverado 2500hd has developed a transmission cooler line leak at the metallic coupler. Vehicle only has less than 50k miles under light load conditions. Never towed anything over 3klbs. I understand this is a very high fail item and even their improved lines are leaking as well. This should be a recall item and replaced at no cost to the customer. *tr

12/27/2006 ODI #10177138.0

The vehicle makes a high pitch noise while lightly accelerating. It strongly appears to be coming from the transmission. The dealers to date has refused to acknowledge this problem with my vehicle. I have had this complaint since the first week of purchasing the vehicle. I presently have 2200 miles. *jb

2006 Chevy silverado hd diesel with allison trans-- transmission cooler lines leaking, dealer said there has been no known problem. I searched online and found hundreds of similar complaints. So I was forced to pay $700 to have the lines replaced, which will probably end up leaking again. This is obviously a defect, as I have 3 other Chevy trucks, none of which have ever leaked from the trans lines, and some are over 10yrs old. *tr

The auxiliary transmission fuel pump system is prone to failure. This makes it so the start/stop feature will not work, as the vehicle will stall when stopped (causing an unsafe situation), and it cannot pass state inspection. The part is entirely unavailable from Chevy, and results in the vehicle being scrapped. There is no way to permanently bypass this system.

Randomly my truck will go in engine power reduced and top speed is 35 MPH. It happened a couple of time on the interstate. The code that pops up is p2135 and I looked it up on line. The internet is full of forms and videos about this problem. Everything on the internet points to the throttle position sensor. I've replaced it twice and replaced the throttle body twice and wiring twice. I put truck in the shop three times. Spent a good $1500 trying to fix the problem and it still pops up every couple of months.

At first #5 on heater quit working. Some times it worked other times it would not. I noticed a glow under the dash and smelled burnt plastic. I checked things out the connector had melted and glowed when the heater was on. It threw sparks when I switched to the 5 position. The blower still worked even though it was about to catch fire, why doesn't it blow a fuse? This is not safe. Lucky I keep my truck clean and don't have carpet, it would have probably caught fire. *tr
