2006 Hyundai Tiburon owner complaints

Vehicle had premature clutch failure. Repair cost 2700. Thousands of complaints on identical failures. Hyundai refuses to admit there is a problem, despite 2006 lawsuit in california concerning the 2003 models. Updated 05/12/11 *bf

I just recently purchased my vehicle. I'm in the military so I put a lot of miles on it driving home all the time. After a month and a half and 5000 miles roughly, my clutch started slipping and then gave out. It was sudden and complete. The tech's at the dealership I took it to stated that my clutch had been severely fried like I was racing it. Fortunately they didn't remove my warranty but they did charge me $900 for it. *jb

I have 2006 Hyundai tiburon and at 9440 miles I started having clutch problems and was told that this is normal and now the car is not even a year old and has 17000 miles on it and it is in the shop to get a new clutch witch is about 900.00 dollars. This seems to be something that is happening a lot. The warranty is 5 years bumper to bumper. Or the clutch is 12000 miles but I see why they just brushed me off at 9440 miles so the could get the money in 2500 more miles. *jb

After I shifted from 1st to 2nd gear, I tried to accelerate but the clutch slipped. When I completely took my foot off the accelerator I felt and heard a mild clunk as it was finally engaged. The rpms were at about 2000 and I was only traveling 5 MPH when this first occurred. I continued to shift through the gears with the same symptoms. Once engaged after a while, in each gear, I pressed down on the accelerator pedal approximately halfway to see what it would do. The rpms shot up and no power got to the wheels. Car started to have a clutch pedal problem around 5000 miles, so I took it to the dealer and they said it was normal nothing to worry about. Then at about 10,000 miles the clutch began slipping so I took it once again to the dealer. They said "yep the clutch is pretty worn out it should be replaced but we aren't sure if it will be covered under warranty" so they told me I need to authorize the payment for the clutch repair which was $1100. I have a 2006 tiburon and have already had to have it in the shop four times. For the sunroof, which still does not work right and the transmission. Now it is starting to be sluggish again. If one person can find other people with different year vehicles of the same problem. Do we have to have people killed before you take action on any situation. 2006 Hyundai tiburon seems like a high performance sports car. And it looks slick, but something about its manual clutch, fly wheel, master cylinder, presser plate, all that and more. On june 11, 2007 at 26,577 miles, I experienced on my way in to work while driving, a slight stick and a definite "click" sound from my clutch pedal. While at a traffic light I experienced complete clutch failure, the car would not go in to gear. The invoice from the dealership states "internal part on master clutch broken-remove and replace master clutch". I was stopped this pass weekend and told my brake lights are not working, was told by the state trooper that there was a recall on tiburon models between the yrs of 2006-2008 on stop lamps during brake don't illuminate and to get them checked out...sure enough I found the recall online, I called Hyundai and they explain that my car isn't on the list for recalls...but I see the recall notices all over the internet...please explain ??? Tl* the contact owns a 2006 Hyundai tiburon. The contact stated the tires would have to be replaced every 15,000 miles or the vehicle would not be able to have an alignment performed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for diagnosis but they were always unable to find a failure. The manufacturer was notified and asked for arbitration but offered no assistance. Brand new car and engine went out. Dealer said I didn't have the oil changed which caused critical failure with engine. After almost 2 years fighting with dealer I gave up. I saved 5k to have a new engine installed with an outside dealer with the same year make and mileage. Today car is overheating and acting like the original engine I had. Dt*: the contact stated while driving 70 MPH on the highway, the tread separated from the front driver tire causing damage to the wiring harness. The vehicle was maneuvered off the road. I was in fairly heavy traffic traveling 65-70 MPH and another car swerved in front after passing me (on the right) and when I went to apply brakes they went to the floor and the car started to accelerate. I again applied brakes and not only did they not work they also didn't disengage the cruise control. I started to panic and applied the clutch and tried to downshift.
