Fuel tank leak of unknown origin considered to be a hazardous condition but with no plans for repair. Consumers have not been informed by company. Company knows about problem. *jb
Car was parked in garage & gasoline spilled under the car damaging garage floor & smelling up the whole house & garage. Car was taken to dealer after we cleaned up the gas & got car out of garage. Dealer advised us that they checked with factory & there was a problem with gas tank and that they would have to order tank from a new manufacturer as the one on the auto had a problem. Still waiting 2 weeks later for car and dealer still cannot assure us that the new gas tank is from a different manufacturer. Jaguar knows that there are a lot of these tanks out there & they have not recalled them, they are waiting for something to happen so that the customer makes a complaint. This smacks of the way that Ford company (which now owns Jaguar) handled the pinto gas tank problem in the 60's. So
On may 5, 2006, when my new 2006 Jaguar xj8 was in the garage of my residence, with mileage of 1,634, the automobile experienced a massive fuel leak literally flooding the floor of the garage. The car was taken into the dealership where the service department replaced a flange seal, performed an overnight test drive, and stated that the vehicle "operates as designed". Thereafter, on june 4, 2006, with mileage of 2,581, another massive fuel leak occurred and again the automobile was returned to the dealership for service. At this time the flange seal was again found to be leaking and the gas tank was found to be warped. On this occasion the flange was again replaced and the fuel tank was "renewed". When I first contacted Jaguar toll-free roadside assistance number and advised them of
Car was driving on highway then went into limp mode and started slowing down dangerously with cars behind me blowing horns and going round. *tr

On two separate occasions in 2006 and 2007, OEM continental touring tires 225/45r17 on my 2006 Jaguar x-type sport sedan suffered spontaneous, catastrophic blow out failure under what should have been nominal operating conditions. {I-95, I-495, clear dry pavement, speed below 80 MPH]. Since those events, remaining tires have exhibited sidewall bulging and other evidence of cord separation. Today (12/26/2008) while visiting safety website, learned of at least 50 similar spontaneous failures of same product, which is also oe tire on Mercedes c300 and BMW 3 series sedans. This seems to be more than coincidence. *tr
Continental conti procontact tire - left front 2006 Jaguar sportwagon x type-failed on masspike. Aaa rep observed that tread separated .no road hazard. Replacement purchased and tire described as failure in "workmanship" 20k . Left front failure was identical to right front tire failure 5 weeks b/4.thus 2 failure s at 20k miles and 19k miles. In the latest incident I was parking the vehicle in a fast-food restaurant when it happened, thankfully no other cars where affected by the incident. I would like to know if there has been a recall related with this type of occurrence. *tr

Upon entering garage of home, while pressing on brakes preparing to park, engine accelerated forcing car to crash into a ladder in front of concrete wall; although husband pushed full force on brakes, the car seemed to race forward. No one was hurt, front right bumper plastic panel popped off. Earlier on same day, while slowing down for traffic, although I pushed on brakes, car did not seem to respond. I was able to maintain control of car since I was traveling at low rate of speed. *tr

2006 Jaguar vdp l wb would not exceed over 10 MPH and warning lights illuminated on the dash. Experienced two massive fuel leaks. *kb the dealer claimed they replaced a seal to fix the fuel leak, however 2 weeks later the fuel leak resurfaced. The dealer then stated the left fuel pump flange was still leaking and the fuel tank was warped. The problem with the vehicle not accelerating over 10 MPH was due to a loose mass air flow sensor connector. The tire monitor was faulty. *jb

steering 1 complaint shown
Dt*: the contact stated while stopped at a traffic light, there was a rattling and grumbling noise coming from under the hood. Shortly thereafter, the power steering failed, and heat was felt coming from the dashboard and under the floor on the driver side of the vehicle. The vehicle was able to be coasted near a parking lot, and driven into a parking space. Excessive force was required to turn the steering wheel, which was accompanied by grinding noises. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who determined that the mounting holes in the side of the engine block used for mounting the brackets that held the power steering pump onto the engine were not drilled properly. This caused the power steering pump to detach, which, while floating around under the hood, caused other componen

I was traveling on the freeway at 55 MPH, as I exited and touched the brakes the car would not slow down, the car gained speed, I pumped the brakes and the car continued to go faster, the car was out of control and crashed into a wall. I was seriously injured and fortunately no one else or other vehicle was involved. I am lucky to be alive. Just prior to impact I turned the wheel to the left causing the car to hit the right front first then the car flipped over. Only the passenger side air bag deployed. The brakes were fairly new with 70% brake lining remaining and the brakes had been inspected one week prior to the accident. It appears to be a combination speed acceleration and brake failure. *tr
