Was driving to work and was accelerating to about 55mph, when my 2006 Jeep commander stopped accelerating and had apparently jumped into neutral. The check engine light also came on at that time. I had to pull over put the vehicle in park and then back into drive, and then it was fine. This exact same thing has occurred about 3-4 times. Always with the check engine light going off soon after. *tr

My 2006 Jeep commander stalls. I purchased the vehicle 2 months ago and the Jeep has stalled around 10 times to date. I took the commander to barton Jeep here in spokane...they said they "flashed" the computer. They said this should fix the problem. Nope! Stalled 3 times in the last week (which is when we got the Jeep back from barton Jeep). My concern is that my wife could get into a serious accident if the vehicle decides to stall on the freeway or somewhere else. Please help me! *tr

While driving down the road, the entire cluster of instrument warning lights begins to flash intermittently, creating a distraction and safety hazard while driving. In addition, the fuel gauge drops to "e", the speedometer drops to zero and then goes up and down and all gauges go up and down erratically. Also, the heated seats turn off as does the fan for the heater/ac unit. Verified with local mechanic that this is not related to the ignition switch and is most likely an ECM and/or PCM issue. Replaced battery but problem still exists. Engine malfunction indicator light comes on for several cycles, computer reboots itself and then the trouble starts again shortly after. This appears to be an ongoing issue with the 06 commander but my VIN was not included in the ECM/PCM recall (08v20300

First annoyance was the inside door handle on the drivers side. It failed to open the door at around 45,000 miles. Then the rear passenger inside door handle just crumbled out of nowhere around 47,000 miles. Then around 50,000 miles the brakes 'felt different' when braking and it felt to hard to press down on the pedal to stop the vehicle. The brake pedal felt hard as a rock then the ABS warning lights came on and after a diagnosis I was told that it had to be replaced. Whenever we went through a puddle of water on a turn the jeeps steering would lock up and just kept moving forward & not turning.

I filed a previous complaint regarding my 2006 Jeep commander 5.7 l hemi regarding the engine light coming on and the hesitation you get when you are driving. I was told that the PCM sensor needed replaced and it has been but the problem is still there. We have had the o2 sensor replaced twice, the gas filter replaced, transmission fluid and filter changed, my Jeep has been in the shop many times for this same problem and they cannot duplicate the problem on some visits. This is a huge safety concern if my Jeep were to stall from hesitation this could cause a deadly accident. I have no idea where to go from here but I will keep on going until I get someone to listen and correct this problem or take these vehicles off the road. *kb

The driver and passenger side door handles have gradually cracked and fallen apart so that it is almost impossible to open the door from the inside of the car. This problem has only occurred on the front doors, not the back-seat doors and began gradually back in 2009 - 2010. It has gotten to the point where both handles are falling behind the panel and we are very careful when opening the door now and prohibit us from being able to easily open the front door(s). My family and I have used care when opening the doors and have never used excessive force over the past 4-5 years so there is no logical reason why they have broken the same way on both sides.` *kb
