Rented 2006 Jeep cherokee at airport. During two stops at intersections I reached to switch radio stations and accidentally and lightly brushed the keys in the ignition. They switched to "acc" and the vehicle turned off. When I say "lightly brushed" I mean just that. I wasn't even aware of what had happened until the second incident. Two things appear defective: the placement of the ignition and the fact that just a light touch turns the key off. Had I done that while driving, the car would have immediately been inoperable and a dangerous situation would have occurred. *nm

The unit will cut off for no reason while sitting stopped. It has happened several times. I took the unit into the c/d/j dealer and was told that they could not find a fault code. Said that I needed to pay for the 30k service. I refused, unless they put in writing that the such said service would stop the engine failure. They refused and I advised that this issue is not the only one that they heard about. Needless to say, they called the police on me! Jeep....the new name needs to be "joke". *tr

I have experienced 2 incidents of my vehicle engine turning off while driving as described in the recall letter I received 4 months ago. To date, each time I call the dealership, I'm told the parts are not in, yet the recall letter states that if I have the car fixed, I can submit a receipt, which infers that there is a part available. Why has Chrysler not been pushed to resolve this issue? Please press them to do so. *tr

Brakes "exploded". No prior warning, squeal, nothing. Have had them checked at dealership only a few months ago. Same size tires. Going down city street, loud popping sound, then short grinding sound. Sounded like back right rear tire. Had car towed to mechanic who stated that spring had broken, caught brake cable, and everything came off in pieces "shards of metal"

We purchased in oct. 2006,a 2006 Jeep grand cherokee 4x4, v6 with 5 speed auto transmission, VIN [xxx]. There is a safety problem related to this vehicle and transmission. Problem: the vehicle has no hill holding capabilities. In other words, when stopped on a hill, the brake must be held on with your left foot and your right foot on the gas pedal in order to move forward with out the vehicle drifting backward. In all the automatic vehicles that I have owned since 1958, including 1993 and 1996 Jeep grand cherokees, none pf them were without hill holding capabilities. The first time I stopped on a hill with this vehicle, I drifted backwards and almost hit the vehicle behind me before I realized what was happening. This to me is a very unsafe condition and something damiler Chrysler should
