2006 Kia Amanti owner complaints

2006 Kia amanti speed control problem at minimal throttle the car would lurch or move very slow and then would buck mostly in cold weather. Never know when this will happen. Started at 4900 miles and still having problem at 94000. Dealer never can recreate problem. We have had the car in many times and its in today still no fix. I believe this car will get us killed. If you pull out in traffic and it only goes 10 miles an hour guess what's going to happen. Does anyone care NHTSA or Kia. I think not! *tr

Tl* - the contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop the vehicle would not accelerate. This was an intermittent problem. If the vehicle did accelerate, it would do so very slowly and the rpms were running as though the consumer was traveling at an accelerated speed. Car would not pick up speed as we were leaving from a complete stop took car in 2008 and found the ignition sensor was bad, it was replace car ran good, 2012 car starting with slow speed at acceleration, changed spark plugs, throttle sensor, 2 ignition sensor. Nothing helped. Took car to dealer, Kia kept car for 3 days and could not find the trouble. Kia dealer called and notified me it was best to trade in car because it was not worth fixing. As I read reports from other Kia car owners it seems everyone has this problem with the amanti but as I was told and many other car owner are informed Kia dealers can not find the problem. Kia needs to find a fix to this problem as a Kia owner when I need to pick up speed and can't makes you wonder it someone going to hit me. *tr

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced a computer board and the failure was remedied; however, the failure recurred six months later. No further information was available. After driving the car slowly lost power, my foot was on the gas, but it would not go any faster. I noticed this problem seems to happen after the car has idled for long periods. Then it gets power back after car has left to set 30 minutes to an hour. This has happened 3 or 4 times this year. On the interstate and city. Leaving me and my family stranded each time. So far this has just happened in the hotter months. Once it sits it doesn't happen again. Making it hard to take any where to get it checked out. The car stereo also is cold natured for some reason. The slightest touch of the gas will cause it to lurch forward, but also it lags, you can push the acceleration deep and still not much response. Usually this is what happens I'll back out of the driveway, put into drive, touch the gas, and it will lurch. Back off the gas lurch again. Full stop and then the car will run just fine. I have had the car into the dealer they say they can not find a problem. *tr

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that they could not find the failure. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 82,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.

When pushing the gas pedal after stopping for a light, engine is sluggish and will not accelerate, almost causing an accident. Had it in the repair shop several times, cleaning the accelerator position switch contacts, and various other wiring checks. The last repair replaced the computer control module at a cost of more then $2,000. This problem has been reported many times by other owners on the repairpal web site. So far, no recall notice has been issued. Kia is reaping the benefits of all the problems we all have been having.

Cv axle separated from transmission..updated 11/03/11 *bf the consumer stated she lost control of the vehicle, and it skidded to a stop, crossing into the next lane. The front control arm on her tires, which is the suspension on her vehicle, is clicking. The cause of the failure is unknown. The vehicle is unable to be driven and was towed to the dealer for repair. The dealer has replaced the control arm more than once, but the failure persists. The failure mileage was 37,000.

This Kia amante is a 2006. I have 132633 miles on it. Last month, I got an "air bag" light on the dash. I took it in to the local Kia dealership, they charged me $100 to tell me the the air bag is no longer operable. The part needed to repair is no longer available. If I get in an accident, the air bags will not work. As the car still looks and runs like new, I do not want to get rid of it. Shouldn't a vehicle manufacturer have parts at least for 13 years?

3 different times the vehicle was stationary with the engine on and the a/c was on. Then I would put it in drive and after about 1-15 minutes of driving, the car lost power, and when you pressed the accelerator, the engine would not rev, the car kept on slowing to a full stop. Put the transmission in park, let engine run for a few minutes, then the car would drive forward. The first time it did this, june 10 2016, we had to call a tow truck and take it to nalley Kia in lithonia, ga. They fixed it, or so we thought. The drivers seat goes forward by itself it cannot be stopped by control switches. This has happened several times, twice while the car was being driven, once injuries were inflicted to the driver,the car has been taken in for repairs 3 times the service dept. At the dealership kept the car 20+ days for this problem the second time it was taken in, we picked it up on friday and the last incident happened on the following sunday evening. *jb

I purchased a 2006 Kia amanti approximately 18 months ago from the Kia dealer in cherry hill, nj. Shortly after driving the car on numerous occasions when I stepped on the gas the car did not move, then what seemed to be an hour it revved up to normal power. I brought it back at least 3 times and they thought I was crazy because they could not reproduce the events. Eventually I almost got hit on a major road. Eventually they put a updated software change that seems to have fixed the problem. I am lucky I was not in a serious accident or killed. I think this problem needs to be fixed in other Kia before someone is killed or hurt.tom *tr

I got two tires from wal mart on 1/28/2008. Couple of months later, I found a tire has bump on sidewall. I let walmart inspect it. They said it should be ok. While our family (my wife, 5years and 6 months boy's and me) are on vacation driving from austin tx to yellowstone wyoming, we stayed over a night in fort collins and my wife drove in the morning on 8/11/2009 to yellowstone. Just passed exit 54 and curved road on hw25 nb, the car was lost its balance and shaken alot with bad small. My wife was so embarrassed and pulled out the car on the side road. If there was any car beside or behind us, we would be in very dangerous situation. I checked the tire and sidewall was blown out which previously has a bump. I called towing company for replacing it with spare one and reported this issue
