The 2006 mazda5 causes excessive wear on tires quite frequently. I purchased my mazda5 new in august 2006, and since then, I've had to purchase 2 sets of tires for this car due to the tires wearing on the inside edge. The 2nd set of tires that were replaced were so bad, that the service person at the dealership recommend that I do not drive the car off the lot because the tires hard worn so badly and could blow out at any moment. Those tires had only about 26000 miles on them! The last set of tires that was purchased in february 2008 are now beginning to show the same wear on the inside edges of all tires. These tires have only about 18000 miles on them. The tire wear occurred even after I had the recommended maintenance (rotation, balance, alignment) performed. I've read forums onl

I have a 2006 Mazda 5. I have gone through 4 sets of tires because they wear on the inside. I am about to replace my 5th set. This is a very costly issue and needs to be addressed. Mazda says its driving habits that is causing this, I drive mostly highway miles. *tr

Tires-premature wear. Tires become cupped. I have driven the vehicle for 26,000 miles and had to replace all tires at 21,000 due to noise. Problem was first reported at 17,000 miles. I have 5,000 on the new tires and the noise is back. Noise sounds just like bad bearings. Dealer said there is nothing wrong with the vehicle and can not explain the reason for the abnormal tire wear. *jb

I bought a 2006 Mazda 5 in july 2007, in november had to buy all new tires($618). In may, had a flat. In july 2008 , the under guard screws fell out and had to pay $180 for a new guard, and the front struts were leaking. September2008 rotated the tires because of the noise, which made the noises worse. The tires had uneven wear and cupping. Also, in september 2008, compressor and clutch failed because of the compressor. R&r compressor assembly, clutch and belt cost me $1397.40. October 2008, the under guard was coming off again and the found the bearings need replacing. They had to order them because everyone is getting them replaced. I'm ready to sell this car!. I did so love it. I can't afford car payments and all the repairs. *tr

Just took ownership of a 2006 mazda5 touring from my brother-in-law. He just replaced the tires recently due to excessive tire wear on the inside wall. If you look from the back of the car, the tires are tilted in at the top. Tire store says according to Mazda, the alignment are in spec. I checked the forums and found multiple owners with the same problem and to fix it, they have to install an aftermarket camber kit. There is a negative camber issue on these cars. I don't want to ruin these new tires as they are expensive. Why does Mazda not realize this as a safety issue? There should be a recall to fix this instead of having the owners spend money to fix it on their own. Can you get Mazda to put out a recall??? *tr

I recently noticed severe wear on the inside shoulders of both rear tires on my 2006 Mazda 5. Looking from the rear of the vehicle, the rear tires appear to lean in at the top. I believe the failure of the tires to correctly contact the road contributes to poor handling, and the severe tire wear will lead to unexpected blow-outs. The vehicle was purchased in nov. 2005 and currently has 23,000 miles. It has not been wrecked or otherwise abused in a manner which would affect the rear alignment. The dealer has refused to repair or align the vehicle under warranty when presented this problem on oct. 30, 2007. I have seen similar issues logged under suspension and tires on this site. *tr

I'm driving a 2006 mazda5 that has been the subject of two previous recalls for engine overheating and catching fire due to exhaust and shoddy locks that do not work well under colder weather. This morning the car has smoke coming out of the engine compartment due to a faulty manufacturer ac compressor as diagnosed by sutherlin Mazda in buford ga. The smoke and heat from the engine prompted and immediate shut down of the vehicle for fear of fire as the smoke was entering the cabin. After doing research, the only possible points of failure are faulty component, improper installation (eg moisture or air in valves, too much or two less oil --oil for the compressor and engine are not the same). Unfortunately the mazda5 is slightly out of warranty and Mazda corporate reclaims the ac compr

1. Event leading up to failure: engine light on. Brought in to Mazda 5 for service. Engine mount appears to have broken. Believe weight of engine on temperature sensor and vibration related to engine mount resulted in breakage of temperature sensor. 2. The failure, how often it occurs, its consequences engine mounts in 2006 Mazda 5 are made of plastic and rubber engine mount that has a significantly high failure rate. See http://repairpal.com/defective-engine-mount-may-cause-excessive-vibrationnoise-460 for summary and http://www.finishlineperformance.com/pdf/mazda5/bulletin/03-001-07-1823.pdf for technical service bulletin. From research. Defective engine mounts can cause significantly expensive damage to engine making it a safety hazard as it will impact drivability of vehicle.

Purchased a new mazda5 car from browning Mazda in cerritos, california. Shortly thereafter, we received a voluntary recall notice from Mazda, requesting that we bring our car back to the dealership and park it "for up to 30 days" while Mazda figured out how to take care of this problem. Cars were catching on fire when driven at 60 MPH in 2nd gear for extended periods of time, with the problem being with the rear muffler overheating and catching fire. We took our car in, and got a free loaner from enterprise rental cars. But as no more info was received from the dealer regarding how much longer we would be without our car, after a month and some weeks we retrieved our car and drove it home. This was two weeks ago, and we have yet to receive notification from Mazda, as we were promised, to

While driving down the highway my driver side sliding door flew open with my 5 and 3 year old in the car. When I pulled over and tried to close it I could see that the latch was frozen open. I could not get it to latch again until the temperature had been warmer for half the day. It has been colder that 25 degrees for the last 3 days.

I own a 2006 mazda5 and the seatbelt base connector fell apart, literally collapsed and all the pieces of hard plastic came off leaving an unlatchable metal plate. I cannot afford to fix the thing because it is too expensive for my single mom fixed budget of 3 kids and no work because I attend school full time. *tr

While driving, the vehicle would suddenly stall. It happened at low speeds up to speeds near 50mph. Everything would be fine, but then it was like there was a stumble and the engine would shift to idle, causing the vehicle to a stop. The engine would not cut out, but would only idle. If we turned the car off, waited a minute, then restarted the car, it would drive fine (until the problem repeated itself at another random time). The dealer made several attempts to repair. They first changed the throttle body, but then it happened again to us within 30 minutes of the repair. They next changed the accel pedal, but it again happened as we pulled out of the dealer across traffic leaving us vulnerable to a severe accident. Finally, they replaced a ground wire for the accel pedal and the probl

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling 25 MPH on dry road conditions, the power steering failed without warning, and the steering wheel was difficult to turn. The check engine light illuminated intermittently prior to the incident. This occurred on two occasions. The first time, the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who performed a diagnostic and determined that the power steering pump needed to be replaced. On 08/16/06, the stabilizer bar bushings were replaced. On 10/21/06, while making a right turn at 20 MPH, the steering wheel locked up, and the vehicle went down an embankment. The contact sustained injuries to the back, arm and head. The contact expressed that the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The insurance company was contacted, and deemed the vehicle tota
