The contact owns a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer. The contact stated that her husband informed her that the vehicle had experienced an unknown radiator failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the radiator was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was repaired for a second time by an independent mechanic; however, the failure persisted. The local dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 143,869.
The radiator coolant system is junk. Busted seals and hoses all the time. I am beginning to think this car is a lemon. I replaced my radiator less than 1 year ago, had the part replaced with the factory part Ford supplies and once again I have a busted seal and have to replace the radiator again. When are they going to recall this part? Seriously I've done my research and the radiators on these vehicles busting isn't an isolated incident. Is Ford going to pay $400.00 dollars every 6 or so months to replace my radiator. I wish someone would file a class action law suit or something. *tr
My 2006 mercury mountaineer was leaking coolant due to a crack in the radiator. After searching online forums, I have learned that has been a long standing issue with many of this vehicles owners. Unfortunately for owners, Ford issued a tbs in 2009 just in time for most of the affected vehicles' warranties to expire. Some owners are on their 3rd or more radiator replacement, I am only on my first. I petition that Ford recalls this issue before myself and others have to repeatedly pay for this clear design problem with their hard owned money. This problem also poses safety risk to the passengers operating these vehicles and to any animals attracted to the sweet smell of the coolant from affected vehicles whose owners who may not yet know this issue or cannot afford to fix it.
Radiator began leaking in my 2006 mercury mountaineer at 51,500 miles. *tr
"takata recall" engine always turns off while driving. I fixed it at 3 different workshops and still the same.
The radiator keeps leaking, first dealer said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle, I am always putting coolant in the vehicle. You can smell the coolant as soon as you open the hood. This has been an ongoing problem since I had 53,000 miles and now that I have 122,000 miles it is getting worse and has to be repaired again. *tr

My 2006 mercury mountaineer has intermittently jolted or lurched forward when stopping for lights and stop signs after speeds over 30 MPH. Hasn't gotten away from me but feels as if I am going to hit something or someone ahead of me. Extremely scary when people are in cross walk. I took my car to the Ford dealer shortly after buying it used. The dealer checked it out and denied it was happening. That was years ago and tonight I saw numerous complaints on another website about this problem. Was looking because now I am getting a grinding noise from my wheels which persists after a brake job that didn't fix it as I thought. Both problems are separate but I see a pattern of them on this vehicle now. *tr
I have just purchased a used 2006 mercury mountaineer AWD v8. When the vehicle is coming to a stop, the transmission lunges forward as it is downshifting. It feels just like another vehicle has hit my vehicle from behind. This is a dangerous situation since as the vehicle lunges forward, it could hit a pedestrian in a cross walk or hit another vehicle in front of me. *tr
When I stop my tranny kicks and it feels like I got hit in the rear. I took it too fm dealer and they adjusted the comp, but didn't fix the prob. It got worse. *tr
My truck has 115,000 miles on it, transmission is now gone. When I put it in reverse it would jerk back like the it was being hit, all of sudden it started dragging while driving, and having problems shifting into gear, and now its totally gone...only had the vehicle two years. *tr
V8 mountaineer jolts when you come to stop, feels like it has been rear ended, no accidents at this point, but there has been a few close calls. *tr
2006 mercury mountaineer transmission problems. Hesitation, funny shifting. Could get someone in trouble by the random shifting problem. Ford dealer I went to said they had never heard of the problem. When you google this it is a problem thanks *tr

My driver seat moves back and forth and the interior indicator light comes on when I am driving. I have to stop and turn off the car and restart it so it will stop.
My mercury mountainers 2006 third row right seat got jammed while my son was seated in the left seat next to it almost pinching him in the seat and I looked at a couple of websites and it states many people are having the same problem I think they should look into this problem before some one gets hurt. *tr

Bought used in wa state and live in nj now. After purchasse it rained one night and next morning entire center console, overhead lights were all wet inside. Upon further investigation determined leak was sunroof. Notified dealer and they had a glass specialist remove the entire assembly and thoroughly clean. Replaced seal with new one and claimed no more leakage. A few days later it rained again (wa well known for always raining) and again the leak was present. The dealer's response was now 'park your vehicle with the front end downhill. There are tiny slots that direct the water down the corner pillars and apparently clog easily. So parking with front end downhill will relieve the water before it can pool up to leak.
Shortly after purchasing my mountaineer the electric running board on the driver side began to make a grinding sound. Bought from a dealer in wa state and moved to wi state where the driver side stopped and the passenger side stopped extending/retracting. Moved to nj and we had purchased the vehicle extended warranty. Began to sound like a knocking sound with little power and had towed to dealer. There they found all 8 spark plugs fouled, driver side had 3 exhaust manifold bolts loose. Passenger side had same 3 loose, but also had 2 broken off in exhaust manifold plus the manifold itself had a hairline crack. In the end, I paid almost $2,000 to have driver and passenger running board and motors replaced. The rear windshield wiper motor had gone bad and was replaced, the spark plugs and al

Vehicle exhibited resistance in steering. Ford dealer found lower steering shaft u-joint frozen from corrosion. Ford dealer stated this condition was similar to that seen for vehicles recalled under Ford recall 13508 and even though it is not currently included, felt this vehicle should be included in the recall. Dealer had to replace the lower steering shaft assembly to return the vehicle to a safe operating condition. *tr

Mountaineer premier AWD with just over 150,000 miles. Went to raise rear (third row) electrical seat on driver/left side. Makes a slight clicking sound and will raise up about 1 inch, then just stops going up with sounds still heard. Further investigation shows a motor in the center along a gear shaft which must raise the seat. The motor is whirring like it is functioning but the shaft doesn't move. There is no way to manually fully raise the seat.
