I was recently contacted via phone that my Nissan altima may be part of a national recall from Nissan motors usa. [how come I did not receive any mail notification?] I brought my car in november/ 2006. Thus, I called and brought my car to the nearest Nissan dealer [wondries Nissan]. The service manager assured me that the service department would run a series of test and it shouldn't take longer than a day to finish. As a result I brought my car in on a monday morning, and guess what? It's still there. It's been three days. End of the first day, he told me it's a huge recall and a lot of test needs to be run. [he couldn't told me that during the time I brought it in so Nissan can give me rental car for my trouble.] since the timing was bad, I couldn't get a rental car. At the end

The crank shaft sensor went out last evening. I was driving the 2006 Nissan altima at 35mph when the power seemed to slow, I pushed the gas and nothing was happening, and immediately it returned to normal power, though this occurrence turned on the check engine light. After arriving at my first destination all was fine and the check engine light was still on. When I went to start the car to leave it would not immediately start. I had to crank it two times to start and the check engine light was on. After extensive research and a trip to autozone, I learned it was the crank sensor and it was a problem for numerous owners. Also it was a recall on only certain models. Which mine is not one of. If the problem is in many vehicles and not just the one recalled then the recall should be for every

I have been losing oil for a couple of years now and I just kept putting it in about once a month. Nobody could find out where it was coming from. I kept asking at oil changes. I just recently had it in to replace the valve cover gasket and tune up ($1200.00) because valve cover was leaking oil into the spark plugs and all over.. Well, they fixed it and I noticed it sounded like it was out of oil again. So I took it right back and asked if they had put oil in it and why it was sounding the way it is. I thought it was using oil because it was in need of a tune up. They took it back in and it was already down a quart. He lifted it and found the oil cool had a hole in it. He said it was not the gasket and it was the oil cooler. These cars are apparently known for that and he doesn't kn

2006 Nissan altima - car has been kept in very good condition - exterior is in flawless condition with no rust visible. Do not be fooled - the floor boards under the drivers side and passengers side are extremely rusted out. Took in car to Nissan dealership for service to replace water pump and was informed about rotted out floor boards. Despite multiple services at same location this was the first time this was mentioned to me. Conveniently after my 7 year / 100,000 warranty has expired. Something does not seem right - the outside of the car is in exceptional shape yet the underbody is completely corroded? *tr

Driving on dry road at speed engine suddenly stopped. Pulled over to side and before car fully stopped put into neutral and engine restarted. Then placed back in drive and continued 50 miles with no further problem that day. On 12/15 while on interstate the engine stopped again with much more danger as traffic was coming up on our rear. Managed to get into breakdown lane and while going 15/20 MPH placed the transmission into neutral and engine restarted and proceeded 50 miles to home. Brought into Nissan dealer on 12/18 and they claimed they checked it out and could find no problems. Nissan customer service opened a case #[xxx] but has not returned calls after the Nissan dealer diagnostics. The car is a danger to ourselves and others but it is our only vehicle. I have had my engine replaced as a recall but windsor Nissan has no record when I asked for the report. I went in to the dealer on 12/16/10 at 5:30 pm because I was having problems as the gear shift was getting stuck in park and couldn't move at all. I read the book which says to push the shift lock release button which will let me move the gear shift temporarily. I then contacted the dealer who in turn told me to bring the car in to check it out. They wanted to charge me $110 just to see it until I disputed that. Afterwards, he told me that the shift lock control unit needs to be replaced, he couldn't explain to me why the car just up and started to act up or what leads to that. I have an older model Nissan altima and it runs better than the 2006. I have had more problems with the ne

While driving in a small street, gas peddle just stops working. Car just keeps moving at speed of 5miles like in neutral mode but checked being in drive mode. Then all lights start flashing and stops after some distance). Towed to dealer-states battery suddenly died. Bring it home. Then same thing happened - again just stops working at redlight with flashing all lights but clearly battery ok as powered drive seat can be moved. Again towed and dealer stating that they are changing alternator. Appears recall of 2007 - crankshaft position sensor/engine stall or similar nature problem happening again. Very dangerous to suddenly stop on road. Called Nissan- opened case #[xxx]. Waiting for their assessment. Car has been repaired so many times since bought new in 2006 , even engine changed.
