2006 Suzuki Forenza owner complaints

When I was driving on the road my airbag from behind on the driver seat busted and my head hit the steering wheel and I stopped in the middle of the road , not knowing what was going on and my I seen smoke coming from the side of my driver seat, and I seen my air bag had busted on it own. *tr

Airbag light came on in january 2010. My mechanic reset the sensor and checked out the wiring. Airbag light came back on after about 1 mouth and has no matter what we do'stayed on--- additional lights come on periodically including the engine light, seatbelt and driving light. What a bunch of garbage. After looking online----there are so many people having the same problems'recall this car for electrical and certainly airbags 'it is a safety issue. This car should be recalled and airbags repaired free of charge. *tr

Air bag light has been on since I purchased the car. I have contacted Suzuki several times regarding it and they say it is normal. Or I can pay to have it diagnosed. It is a safety issue. Suzuki customer service is horrible. I have signed myself up for a class action law suit. *tr

I was driving my car through a gravel street, I hit a man hole and the seal to my airbags broke, the air bags did not come out or deploy fully. I was not involved in an accident nor was anyone hurt or injured or any properly damage done, the front or rear side of my car was not hit nor damaged, this lead me to believe that there must be some sort of defect on the car, I had the dealership look at it and they told me there was no defect, but why didn't my airbags fully deploy or inflate? Had I not been wearing my seatbelt, I could have been seriously injured. I did some research online and I found that there was other owners of the same make and model with almost the same issues, dealing with the front and passenger air bags. *tr

Dt: the contact stated the air bags:on and off switch assembly was not working properly. A light would come on when the air bags were not working. The air bag will turnoff when hitting a bump in the road. The vehicle has been checked at a dealership. The parts to repair the switch were on order. Also contacted the manufacturer. The vehicle is still under warranty.*ak

My 06 forenza would not shift into drive and the check engine light would come on then it would get better and the check engine light would turn off. Then I started getting the periodic clunk and scrambled display, usually while in a parking lot or when just starting a trip and driving slow. I finally took it to advance auto and they told me it was the transmission sensor. They sent me to the dealer who made me take the car back home because the check engine light had turned back off and they couldn't read the codes. It's still not fixed because when the check engine light comes on it never at the shop. I have researched online and find that a lot of consumers are having the exact same problem with this car. 2006 Suzuki forenza, brake sensor went out and car would not go out of park and into drive. I fixed that and then on december 19, 2009 I was drving down the highway and the car went out of drive and into neutral. I almost wrecked because I couldn't get the car back into drive to keep up with the flow of traffic. In a panic I put the car in 3rd gear and I was able to make it home. The mechanic has had the car for over a week trying to figure out what the problem is. This could have caused a serious accident. *tr

The check engine light keeps coming on. While driving approximately 30 MPH the vehicle stopped accelerating. The vehicle was stopped and shifted into park. Upon shifting it back into drive the vehicle operated as normal. Also, as I move the gear into park, drive or reverse, the car jerks through each gear and drives real slow before picking up the speed that can be very dangerous especially at the intersections with oncoming traffic. Previously, I had taken the car to dealership for same reason who told me to replace the transmission range sensor. Since it was not covered under warranty I spent over $300 to get it replaced. Four months later, engine light came back again and the car has same problems as before. Please help. *tr

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the transmission range sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 32,000 and the current mileage was 37,000.

2006 Suzuki forenza which I bought in february 2008. The interior handle on the passenger and driver side broke off within 4 months of each other a year after I had the vehicle. Normal use of handles (trying to exit vehicle). Never experienced anything like that. After reading through your complaints, I see others have the same problem. I went to dealer who had no information about a recall. He informed me of the cost of $120+ to repair the two plus the cost of the handles. *tr

The interior door handle of my 2006 Suzuki forenza has fallen off of the driver's and passenger's door. After some research I see that other people are having the same problem and that there has been a recall on some vehicles. When is the recall coming out for the 2006 model? The possibility of being trapped in my car is definitely a safety hazard.

I slowed down to turn off of a busy street onto a side street. As I went to speed up to about 15-20 MPH the car slammed on the brakes itself, my foot was on the gas. I put my foot on the brake for 20 seconds and then put my foot on the gas to try to drive again. The car again slammed on the brakes. I put my foot on the brake, put car in park and turned off the car. I turned it back on and was able to drive to a safe spot. I am terrified to drive it again. What if I had still been on the main road? *tr

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.

The vehicle is under a recall campaign (xa-xc) for drl module/ignition switch replacement. The owner is physically unable to get the vehicle to the nearest dealership for the repairs to be performed (he is prohibited by his physician to drive such long distances). Suzuki will not allow any other facility, no matter how well qualified, to perform the repairs. Suzuki offers no solution - like offering to tow the vehicle - aside from an offer to reimburse for fuel. I am a neighbor and can attest to the owner's physical limitations (he had a stroke). He is also elderly and from another country - so his comprehension of the issue is limited. The contact has applied pressure to the hood several times, but it would not remain completely shut. He believes the hood latch is defective because it is not connecting properly to the locking mechanism. The dealer and manufacturer have not been notified. The contact stated that he experienced several electrical failures with the windows opening independently, failed headlights, flickering instrument panel lights and a failed battery. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where it was diagnosed. The mechanic advised the contact that the electrical failures caused the battery to fail. The dealer was contacted and advised the contact that the warranty was expired therefore; he would be responsible for the diagnosis and repair costs. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer previously for the failures and the dealer cleared the computer codes but the failures persisted. The brake calipers stuck on the front and rear of the car catching the front wheels on fire. This all caused the car to stop suddenly on a major highway. I was able to get off the roadway safely. It turns out the brake hose lines collapsed inside causing the calipers to lock up. I had to replace the entire brake system. *tr
