2007 Cadillac STS owner complaints

I have a 2007 Cadillac sts - top of the line car. At 800 miles, I had to have a new engine put in the car and now at 4,000 miles, the electrical systems fail, with out any warning. The car's electrical system totally shuts down, the hydraulic sytems fails and the engine is obviously off. There was no indication of any failure or any warning, the car's electrical system simply shuts off - completely. Emergency flashers do not work, there is no access to the trunk for safety material. Therefore, if this occurs on a highway at a reasonable speed, there clearly will be an accident - potential fatal accident by a car simply shutting down, with no indication of same. *tr

Vehicle failed to start three times since purchased new and had complete shut off at highway speeds once. Since this is an intermittent problem, Cadillac dealer advised me that they cannot diagnose without reproducing problem. This is an unsafe condition and an unacceptable response from Cadillac. *jb

Engine randomly stops running while car is going at high speeds or low speeds. Engine will restart and travel for various distances before occurring again. This problem has been reported on many 2007 Cadillac and gm has made a recall on all 2007 Cadillac except the sts model ! It uses the same ignition switch as the other models. Very dangerous situation if another car is behind. *tr

Air bag on the steering wheel has oozing glue that oozed/leaked out of the airbag and has hardened on outer cover! Lights and radio don’t disconnect or turn off when car is turned off and drain battery.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Cadillac sts. While driving 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was unable to restart. The contact observed an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the vehicle had a new starter and alternator. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 105,000.

On many occasions, my 2007 Cadillac sts experienced the exact same ignition problem as other more popular models of the 2007 Cadillac. This problem causes the engine to suddenly quit while driving causing serious danger to being hit by the car behind me. It does not matter whether you are driving at 20 MPH or 65 MPH. It randomly causes the engine to die. An ignition recall has been issued on many (or all) models of the 2007 Cadillac except this sts model. Passenger air bag warning light - dealer will not fix for less than $800.00. Same issue as 2007 Cadillac cts. See below. This was a company car built early for employee evaluation. I am sure it was the same seat system general motors is recalling certain model year 2005-2007 Cadillac cts vehicles. Some of these vehicles have a condition in which repeated flexing of the passenger sensing system mat in the front passenger seat may cause the mat to kink, bend, or fold. This flexing can break the connections in the mat. If this occurs, the sensor may not detect the presence of a front seat passenger and will disable the air bag.

The service airbags warning appeared on my car. It was just parked for 2 days and when I got in it turned on. This is a common issue that has occurred with multiple people.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 Cadillac sts. While driving approximately 45 MPH and when a when a passenger was in the seat the passenger side air bag light was off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times. Once the dealer calibrated the sensor, a second time they advised him that they could not duplicated the failure. After leaving the dealership the failure happened again. He took the vehicle back to the dealer who stated that he performed a diagnostic test but the vehicle showed no failures. He called the manufacturer and they referred him back to the dealer. The failure had occurred since last month. The vehicle was at the dealer when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 26,025 and the current mileage was 26,900.

2007 Cadillac sts. Consumer writes in regards to airbag sensor indicator light repair/cost issues. *smd the consumer was informed the air bag sensor which was causing the air bag light to illuminate was not covered and it would cost $ 850.00. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 Cadillac sts. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag works intermittently when someone of a heavier weight sits in the passenger seat. He also stated that because the air bag was not activated, the seat belt chime that indicates the seat belts were not in use, would not work either. The contact notified the dealer of the failure at least six times and took the vehicle there as well. The current mileage was 3,500 and failure mileage was 10.

About 30% of the time I am making a hard right turn, the vehicle stability system kicks in on my car. This happens on dry pavement. The car slows and there is no acceleration for about 2 seconds. *tr

NHTSA campaign #14v542000, recall id #226957 - fuel system issues, effective 03/12/2015. Notified by credit karma on sunday, 11/04/2018. I purchased this vehicle in 2011. Within the first month, the vehicle would not start after filling the gas tank the night before. Initially I thought perhaps it was a bad batch of gasoline. I filed a claim again my warranty, requested information from thomas petroleum who confirmed there was no issue with gasoline, warranty covered repair. Then again in 2016, I have experienced the same issue with fueling system. Please see attached diagnostics from autozone. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 MPH, the stability system active warning light illuminated and the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. In addition, the vehicle independently decelerated. The failure occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the rear passenger side wheel speed sensor and various wires needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

The headlights have a major fogging issue which leads to impaired visibility both for the driver of the car and for other drivers on the road. This issue is being reported in sts and cts Cadillac forums at least as far back as 2008. I believe this is a defect in either the design or manufacturing of these components. *tr

The rear window of my Cadillac sts shattered while it was parked in my garage. Nothing struck the window; it shattered of its own accord. *tr

This Cadillac make & model does not have an american engine, a fact that was not disclosed to me upon purchase. The engine light has came on several times in the past and dealership would mess with wires under seat and somehow get the light to go off and tell me it was the airbags that would make the sensor go off. Then when I pay my last note and get to 100,000 they decide to reveal to me that the same engine light defect means real engine problems. So after letting two more highly recommended mechanics diagnose the problem I was told by both that this was not an american engine but a very cheap german engine and that they had a large number of people having the same problem, with some having to sell their car for scrap metal. My wife went to the local gas station and as she was pulling in she made a right hand turn past the pumps to park. She hit the brakes and the car sped up. She slammed them harder and it slightly slowed down but she hit 2 guard rails and then crashed into the cinderblock wall destroying the front bumper, both front fenders, headlights and the internal aluminum bumper was crushed as it was designed to do. The air bags did not go off but she was not hurt. She said the car sped up while the brakes were deployed. Also, after she hit the wall she tried to put the card in reverse but she had to put it in neutral to actually go in reverse. The car is at the mechanic being fixed at this time but I am concerned about this speeding up instead of stopping when the brakes are applied... This is not a g
