2007 Chevrolet Aveo owner complaints

"passenger airbag is off" light comes on when adult is seated indicating airbag is disabled. Have had it in for service four times. Have been told we were not sitting in the seat properly. Gm replaced seat and sensor, but did not correct the problem. Last service date is 12/24/2008. Was told that the problem cannot be fixed. Reported at 8297 miles; current mileage is 53783. I was informed that the airbag may not deploy in an accident increasing chance of injury. *tr

Air bag deployed light came on approximately 12/3 and stays on. Will this cause the bag not to deploy if there is an accident? I have noticed on line this has been mentioned by others as well. Should this be a recall issue or should the vehicle owner be responsible for the correcting of the problem? *tr

2007 Chevrolet aveo passenger airbag light stays on when my wife who weights about 130 lbs. I have had the auto into the dealership 7 times since I purchased it in feb 2007 to repair this problem. They claim that they have contacted gm about this problem, but not come up with a fix for it. I called gm customer relations about this problem. They are no help either. They claim they replaced every thing connected with the air bag system, but it still don't work. My wife will not ride in the car the way it is, so I have a car that I can't take my wife with me when I go any place. Would you please look into this problem for me, and let me know what they have to say about it. *tr

"takata recall" I bought my car in 2009. About 6 months later the airbag light came on and the dealer went out of business. When I checked the VIN number it was not among the many, many aveos tagged for recall to replace faulty airbag systems. And I'm not alone. It was a car accident in which air bags failed to deploy. Suffered back and neck injuries. *tr

I would like to suggest the Chevrolet aveo only has frontal air bags and should have more air bags especially for side collisions.

The car is having electrical problems. Started with the headlight going out on the drivers side, then the shifter started getting stuck in park. Later the dash board lights went out, along with all the gauges. Now my tail and brake lights are no longer working and when I turn off the car, the key gets stuck in the ignition and cant be removed. All this happened over a 3 day period. I took it to Chevy and after 2 hours, they stated they could not identify the problem. They wanted to charge me eight additional hours of diagnostic fee at a rate of $109/hr to try and find what the problem is. I took it to another mechanic who diagnosed a problem with the fuse box. Been smelling something that similar to plastic but could not locate anything but now I have had multiple fuses blown for low beams and drl. Ultimately all dashboard lights have now gone out along with no tail lights or low beams or drls at all and no horn. Dealer is saying that the fuse block is going to have to be replaced but the car only has 83,000 and noticed that there was a recall out there for the drl module melting or catching on fire but low and behold my car is not on that recall but looks to me that it should be. Dt*: the contact stated while driving 70 MPH on a highway, the vehicle had lost all power on three separate occasions. The warning lights illuminated on and off and the engine idled as the vehicle coasted to a stop. The vehicle restarted, and then stalled after a few minutes. The vehicle was towed to the sales/service dealer, where the problem could not be recreated. The second time, the electronic ignition switch was replaced and the third time, the alternator was replaced. My ca r has excessive tire ware have 147000 miles purchased with 42000 I am on 6th set of tires have used three brands. Some tires as little as 15000 miles have had it checked for alignment which was at specs. This problem has resulted in sudden loss of air pressure with near collision. This to me is a huge safety problem and needs gm to back up this problem and make corrections. *tr

I have a 2007 Chevy aveo (only had it for six months) that pulls to the left whenever I let go of the wheel. Not just a slight pull but a serious pull. The service people told me that when they asked their main tech's they were told that's just the nature of smaller cars. Only thing they said to do was to change the tires from one side to another, that could fix it. Well it didn't. The service manager said they can do what's called an adjustment misalignment, won't that cause trouble with the other parts of the car? I have had smaller cars than this and they never did pull to one side or the other. Why does this one act different, and not since I bought it but it just started? I am not happy about the problem and the company not doing anything to correct it. *tr

Vehicle headlights failed. Car was parked in the driveway. An hour later when it was started again, the headlights failed to come on and remain inoperable. Bulbs, switch, and relay have all been checked and verified to be operable.

In july 2014, I received a recall notice #14093 from Chevrolet/gm advising of a fire hazard involving my daytime running headlights. The notice advised the parts are not currently available... I called their 800 number several times up through today to check on getting this hazard fixed. Unfortunately, today is 11-22-14, and they still are not ready to remedy the hazard. In addition, my interior light stopped working a few months ago, and it's not the light bulb because I replaced it. I would like this repaired too. I do not feel safe in my car, and in light of the fact that four months have now gone by since the recall notice, I strongly feel that Chevrolet/gm should offer/pay for a safe loaner vehicle until they remove the fire hazard. Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that the gear shifter would not release from park and caused the brake light switch to fail. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. Spark plug cables rubbing on engine bolt which caused cable to arc and burn additional cable. Has first told the vibration of the engine caused cable to wear. Car misfired and spurted while in traffic, which caused serious traffic backup. Took directly to dealership, cables were ordered & replace at owners expense. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated a recall letter #06v398000 was received regarding the fuel system, gasoline. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the remedy repair however the parts were not available. The dealer stated that they will alert the contact when the parts are available. The manufacturer has not been contacted.

Have now replaced front wheel bearings twice on my aveo. *tr
