Power steering light pops on and power steering goes out. Car is under three years old. This is a known very common problem with these cars. Completely unacceptable. Happens over and over, once you turn the car off and back on it will work again until the next occurrence which could be two minutes later or fifteen minutes later. I cannot afford to replace this so nothing has been done about it the quote to get it repaired was around $2000. These should be recalled!!! *tr

Power steering fails on 2007 Chevy cobalt researched to find out what to do to fix, Chevy dealers want $2000.00 to replace as now I find over 275 people on a "how to repair it" website having same problem & wondering when is this going to be recalled, after so many deaths? *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet cobalt. While driving approximately 40 MPH, there was a loss of power steering without warning. The engine was turned off and, after restarting, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The failure recurred on a separate occasion. In 2010, the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 10v073000 (steering); however, the failure recurred recently. The vehicle was not repaired for the second time. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
2007 Chevrolet cobalt with power steering system failure. The car currently has 67,000 miles and had not had any issues with it until this randomly happened on the street. A "power steering" message came up on the dashboard of the car and seemingly the steering column locked up. This was with my 2 year old nephew in the car. I am glad I was not on the freeway when this happened. After that occurrence it has continually happened over the last 2 weeks every time the car is used. It is random and there is no pattern to what sets it off. The power steering fails and it is dangerous to drive that way. I cannot afford to take it back to the dealership to pay the $2000 they want to fix this dangerous issue, so this is still occurring. I am trying to find another way to get this fixed but thi
While driving my car , the dash will ding three times, flash "power steering" and then the steering wheel will lock up. I will have to pull over, turn the engine off, and restart the car. Upon restarting the car, it will work fine. This will happen several times in a row. It is a hassle while driving, I've had to stop in the middle of the road to turn my car off at times when there isn't a shoulder to pull off on. From what I have read, this is something that happens a lot with 2006-2007 model cobalts, cost upward t $1000-$2000 to fix and obviously needs to be recalled. *tr

Please do something before someone is seriously injured. *tr

Vehicle reeks of fuel and has a fuel leak. Gm offered a recall in several states stopping at the one right below mine because the heat is the problem. Vehicle isn't driven nearly as much as others due to short distance to work, but they will not repair the problem. *tr
Around Dec. 22, 2021, I started smelling gas outside and inside of my car (particularly the right back seat near the gas tank). I took it to a local mechanic and he urged me to take it to the dealership for service and to not drive the car a lot because it could be dangerous. He said it was the gas tank pump and that there was a recall that I should look into. I took my car to a local dealership for service and upon inspection, they removed and replaced the fuel pump and plastic lines - they confirmed there was an issue with the gas pumps.
A severe fuel leak detected on the ground after encountering gasoline vapor smell. This was determined to be defective fuel lines. I was notified by servicing dealer that the entire fuel delivery lines would need replaced at a cost of $700 plus. I believe these lines are located close to the exhaust / emissions systems. This is described and seen as an explosion/ fire hazard. *js

Tl* the contact owns 2007 Chevrolet cobalt. The contact stated that the key became stuck in the ignition while the vehicle was shut off. The contact was unable to lock the doors to the vehicle when the failure occurred. The dealer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnosis. The manufacturer was contacted and attempted to walk the contact through manually releases the key but to no avail. The key remained stuck in the ignition. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileage was 50,058.
On the 2007 Chevy cobalt, the key gets stuck in the accessory position and cannot be removed. You must either jump the car or push the switch under the steering column to remove the key. With the key in the accessory position, the battery drains and renders the radio inactive. This adds to an additional safety concern because the seatbelt chime and blinker sound go through the radio and cannot be heard when the radio is inactive. Chevy stated that you must bring in the car to have the radio reprogrammed for $130 each time the battery goes dead. *tr

Connection to the fuel pump broke. Strong smell of gasoline in the cab alerted the driver to the problem. Gasoline was found leaking from the car. No accident, bump, or other event leading up to the failure noticed. Very unsafe. Part was immediately replaced. Fuel tank had to be taken off to get at the part, which was time intensive, and part was expensive. *tr

2007 Chevy has rattling noise and sounds like front end is falling off. Took to dealer and was told the front end bushing(s) has to be replaced at a cost near 400.00. How many complaints do we need to make before a recall is in order. *tr
