Recently experienced loss of steering power in my vehicle more than once while driving at a low speed. It has happened with my teenage son behind the wheel. Turned the car off and restarted to clear out the warning on the radio display. The steering wheel is also shaking/vibrating while the car is sitting idle. I did an online chat with Chevy. Of course my vehicle was not on the recall list. I have ~146,400 miles on my car. Just found out there was some type of special assist in place. Of course that option expired for me on 9-1-2017. From what I'm hearing, this will be a costly repair. The repair will probably cost more than what the car is worth. A case number was assigned to me. I have an official diagnosis from the dealer in order to determine if there's any type of assistance for this

Chevy malibu recall. My power steering goes out in the middle of me driving. It is a real safety hazzard when I never know when it will go out! My VIN # is not on the list to get fixed but fits the recall description! I even had this problem before the recall accrued and had the problem confirmed by a gm specialist. Please add my VIN to the list so my safety is not in danger when I drive! *js

I was in a crowded parking lot and suddenly lost power steering. I nearly hit a pedestrian because I was in the middle of a turn. The power steering continues to fail without warning. When doing some research online about this I found hundreds of entries of the same problem. There are recalls on other models and other years, just not the 2007 malibu that I have. This electric power steering can fail at any time and is a very dangerous issue. The repair is expensive ($1300.00) and will not prevent additional failures.

My son was driving the 2007 Chevy malibu I bought for him for work/school when the electrical power steering system went out. He was driving down a busy three lane road, and as he began to change lanes, the steering became very stiff. He heard a chime and then saw the dash flash "power steering". Since he wasn't expecting this, he couldn't control the steering right away, and the malibu continued to drift toward the outer lane in which another vehicle was in. He barely avoided hitting the side of this other vehicle by turning the steering wheel of the malibu the other way by using a lot of force. Since then, the power steering goes out intermittently. This is very unsafe and needs to be repaired as soon as possible, before someone is injured or killed, and it should be repaired by th

I have a 2007 Chevrolet malibu that the power steering keeps cutting out. The last time this happened I was traveling 35 miles per hour when a deer ran out in front of me. I almost hit a tree. I am very grateful that my children were not in the car. I have researched the issue and it appeared gm has already recalled some models for the 2006 and 2008 with the same power steering issue. I was wondering if you would take this issue into consideration and look into possibly recalling the 2007 model as well. During my research, I discovered that other people have had problems with the same issue. Thank you. Looking forward to hearing from you. *tr
